The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
Ahhh! My brain got up and left my body for (more than) a second just now! I swore that today was the 27th. I *need* it to be the 27th. Not the 29th. I am slightly behind on my end of the month Cheery-O duties and I will not have a free second at all.

Yesterday I got home at 5 pm, took a shower and then didn't move from the couch until bedtime. And I will place any amount of money that I do the exact same today.
The field trip was awesome, even the one part that didn't work out as I had planned. I'm not crazy about the 12- 4pm slot. I feel like I've already put in a full day when the kids get dropped off. Meanwhile, the kids-- they are raring to go at noon way more than at the 10 am drop off. They loved the compost in a bag activity so much that I had to flip the 2nd activity to after lunch instead of before. The BioBlitz was the last thing we did and they were happier counting the number of spruce cones than finding different species. But they were having fun, learning how to use the binoculars and sketch a map. Allll good!

One of the smartest decisions I have made recently is to piggyback yesterday's curriculum for today's. I have my Spring HS afternoon group coming in. Three of the kids I had in the Fall and the three I had for the Winter session. I am doing two of the same activities and instead of the bioblitz we are going to make a worm jar.

That is my afternoon. First I have to get through the morning. Gary is supposed to be picking up my grocery order but he is really feeling awful, so I might need to do that if he can't leave the house. My parents, Scott, and Sam are coming here at 10 for bagels. Tom is off and Cait works remote today. It is one of the few times we can all get together. It's not ideal for me, but I'll make it work. I told my parents that I have to leave at 12 and really, as long as I leave by 12.20 at the latest, I should have plenty of time to get prepped before the kids come at 1.30.

I'd better post this and then start the busy day with all the energy I have. :D

@taxed4ever I know what you mean about the rain forcing you to slow down a bit. I hope the weather is perfect for your hike tomorrow.
Did you survive voting and Costco?

snowmen!!! LOL For me it has to be versatile and fit the theme. If its "winter" I expect lots of snowflakes, snowmen, cold cool colors, trees, no flowers. If its car related, gears, wheels, mud, keys, etc not flowers. But I am a sucker for hearts. Snowmen and hearts make me look long and hard at a kit.
Snowmen and hearts do not belong in the same kit. No love for snow from me. :giggle4: OTOH, I will take snowman over buttons in a heartbeat.
Oh man if you want to see some wildlife, you need to hit Denali and take the tour bus back up in the mountain. We did it in 2000 and brown bears and moose. It was so much fun.
That was one of the things he was telling me about. He was also supposed to take a helicopter to a glacier, but the weather was bad and it was canceled. I was like Not a change in H*** would you get me on that! :hahano:
Despite the rain we will be opening the windows. We chopped, bagged and froze 40 lbs of onions Saturday and my house just smells of onion. The freezer smells of onion. Its everywhere. Need to air out the house. I love onion but I'm over my house smelling like onion
I hate cooking onions and garlic when it isn't a hair washing day and I feel like the smell is stuck in every starnd. I have never cooked 40 lbs atthe same time either.

Couldn't see the mountain due to all the dirt in the air!!! Had to keep the house closed up all day. Even had a small tornado in the far southwest of Albuquerque in the late afternoon... no damage to houses there, thank goodness. Today is suppose to be calmer. There is a haze this morning so plan on keeping the house closed up again today.
:wow2: I hope the winds calm down today and everything in the air settles.
Don't think the body is up to all the sitting on the floor cleaning the cabinet and moving DVDs yet
Ummmmm--- I sure hope you didn't do any of that yet. Can you wait until the next time DD#3 comes to visit??

Lauren played like her hair was on fire every game and the nicest complement came from the coach who creamed them in the first 2 games, he told our coach that his middle (Lauren) was a really great player.
And that is why you go even if the team loses ♥♥♥ Lauren sounds like a force of nature!
I hope that your allergies and the weather chill out for you too. Be safe!

Not sure I'm making sense, it's been a long day and I should be in bed, have to be at my neighbor's by 6:45am tomorrow to stay with the little guy and put him on the bus at 8:30 since Dad is away this week.... :sleeping2:
You made complete sense to me! (not sure if that is reassuring or frightening but it is what it is! LOL)
Good luck today with your neighbor's little one!

We did well, he's very cute and just 8 years old. Yesterday he beat me in Junior Monopoly and today in Battleship, he's very smart!

Well I did it--I bought a new Canon camera with wifi and 24.2 megapixels( my other was only 18) that can still use my lens. I will be able to send pics through my phone...so excited i think this will really come in handy in Germany. I paid extra to get it on Thursday rather than next week. Ill be able to play with it before we leave on our summer trip North. Last night at the music night hubby bought a cake for me and everyone/band sang HBday, I was embarrassed it's fine for everyone else but I don't like it for me.
Now it's full speed ahead to get ready to leave on 12th.
This afternoon our neighbor is having a gathering so we will pop over for a little while. They have family here from NY so we will need to say hello cause we haven't seen them in a year.
We are smoking some salmon today so I can freeze it to take N to our son who loves it. I have so many homemade things to take N I think it will fill up under the sofa.
I finished the book I was readying- Girl Behind the Gates- Brenda Davies. based on true story of pregnant/unmarried girl sent to psych hospital and lived there over 40 years because of the horrible system. So sad.

@AK_Tracy and @MariJ I agree about the flowers...I love flowers but not so many in every collection, many times they just recolor and rename. Collections with themes and less flowers are my go to. There are not many masculine collections or just neutral colored collections either. I never pick a collection for the flowers but for some other embellishments in the collection.

@faerywings You write the most interesting info about your day. I hope you have some great weather for your upcoming events. How is that foot doing now that you are running around again.
Your student is right. A helicopter ride is amazing we took one to Mt Rushmore and loved it. Hubby flew in many in Army but this one was for fun...I would get in the helicopter to see the glacier too. Got to do everything you can when you have the chance cause you probably won't get the chance again.

@BrightEyes wow crazy weather you have been having so good thing to just stay in to get inside projects done. Those CD's are kickin your butt so don't over do it.

@AK_Tracy That's allot of onions...I used to do the same thing but now just the two of us I just get fresh ones when I need them. Burn some candles to take the smell out. Is it still too cold to leave windows open?

@JeanneMN so nice to have the star player in the family. I totally understand why you are so proud. I just cannot imagine sitting in the cold to watch the games. I went to all our son's baseball games but it wasn't cold or rainy. Kudos to you for being so dedicated.

Got to go to camper to take inventory and work on my lists.
Have a great day.

We made it through the nasty weather unscathed. Got about a half inch of rain a little bit of hail and we didn't get the straight line winds a lot of places had. Lots and lots of lightning . At one point we had rainbow with lightning going off all around it. I turned on the AC last night so I'm breathing better today. Only 42° this morning with a high of 57° for this afternoons track meet. I may take the camera along again. I have a couple loads of laundry to do yet today and I need to update the financial staff. I have one more volleyball page planned. The personals have been fermenting since the weekend.

Been a long day. 7 hours of driving. Beautiful drive. Pantry restocked, bank account zero again. Now to put my feet up and recover. Scrapping tomor........nope tomorrow we have to cut, pack and freeze all the onions, peppers, mushrooms etc we just bought. Lots and lots of chopping. Have a wonderful night!
I can't even imagine that many onions at one time, we may share weather, but boy, I am spoiled by having a huge grocery store 20 min away and a local grocery store 8 blocks from my house.
Quick in and out......heading to a women's church function so won't be back until later today!
Have a wonderful Saturday, my sweet O friends!
So happy to hear you had such a lovely time.
I have strict orders from the Director to stay off my feet today so I don't hurt myself tomorrow at Earth Day. Should be easy enough, I have to link all of my color play LOs today and then work on my HS Pod field trip on Monday and the new afternoon session on Tuesday. I have 5 kids signed up so far, hoping for a few more. dance3
you and orders ---- hmm ----- I don't know that I've ever met anyone as excited about their job as you are, that's the way it should be. Our two favorite servers at our favorite Key West haunt told us the exact same thing - They work like crazy, but are so darn good at it because they love doing it and it shows. Those kids are lucky to have you.
Hope you stayed warm at the games last night.
BTW-- I *LOVE* your siggie. Love. It. ♥
Thanks, it was time for a fresh siggy and that kit of Erin's speaks to me on so many levels.
Too much repetitive motion using the right shoulder (had rotator cuff surgery on it several years ago). << sigh >> It needs to be a PJ day, too... as can't stand the bra strap on it, either... :thud: Guess it will be a massager/recliner/reading day for me.
I hope that shoulder is improving, maybe you need to set a timer when doing those repetitive tasks, but if you're like me, you'll ignore it. Visit that massage chair often- .

Right now I am enjoying my coffee in my favorite mug from Yellowstone and remembering last years summer trip out there. I hope everyone has a great day.
That sounds like such a lovely way to start the morning.
I'm sending you gentle purple hugs from the purple lover here, Tracy
I'm a purple lover too, I lean more toward the jewel purples than the pastels though, but I also like something bold with my purples, I was sort of overwhelmed by all the flowers, mainly because I struggle with clusters.
I grabbed the old DSLR first but it's been so long since I used it, I forgot how.
That's the way I felt when I grabbed mine to go to the vb tourney. I still love using it though

How exciting! You will have fun getting to know your new camera!
I got a new camera last year....Nikon Coolpix P950....there are a whole bunch of numbers on it that I don't know what they mean! I got it because it has more zoom than the last Nikon I had, which hubby inherited! Mine stays on the bird setting which takes a burst of 10 images. That's twice what the last one does.

Good Morning!
I didn't even get in here yesterday and meant to get back in here on Monday evening, but that didn't happen either!
Been busy doing "stuff" and, right now, I don't even recall what all of the "stuff" was! :giggle4:
Today is Mark's 64th birthday. I have his favorite dinner ready to pop in the oven when I get back home this afternoon. Ilene and I are going to COSTCO as we need dog food and I need more hamburger because I just used my last pack fixing his Mac & Cheese casserole. Not sure why it is a favorite of his, but, whatever! It's an easy fix! So I like it, too! ;)
And since we are headed to COSTCO, we will eat lunch at Olive Garden first.
Afterwards I need to stop and get a birthday card for Mark and then will play a few games of Qwirkle with Ilene before heading for home.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Yes! I've loved purple since I was a little girl and no one else did and my favorite, too is the rich, darker jewel tone although I like any hue. Honestly? I love flowers but since my layouts are mostly all about the photos, I can't see overwhelming them with too many flowers that detract from them. And, I have a "thing" about flowers on snow pages, there are no flowers in snow! I understand the reasons and see many beautiful pages, but they are just not for me in those situations. I always leave a disclaimer when I talk about this, I'm not criticizing, it's just not for me.

I got the Canon t6i it will let me use all the lenses that I have so that is easier on the budget. I think I will keep my t5i so I can keep my long lens on it all the time. It's so exciting to get a new camera or lens. Let the fun begin.

EXACTLY, very often flowers are the same and I totally agree about themed collections and less flowers.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Debby! I'm sorry I missed it but glad you had a nice day.
I miss things here, so you are going up north, what fun. :heartpumppink:  :heartpumppink:
PS and congrats on the new camera! You take such wonderful photos, I'm looking forward to even more! :beatingheart:

Good Morning!!!

Snowmen and hearts do not belong in the same kit. No love for snow from me. :giggle4: OTOH, I will take snowman over buttons in a heartbeat.
They DO belong together!!!! :floorlaugh: Those are just two items that make me look closer at a kit. And cars.
I hate cooking onions and garlic when it isn't a hair washing day and I feel like the smell is stuck in every starnd. I have never cooked 40 lbs atthe same time either.
We didn't cook them. They are raw still. And man the punch of onion when you open the freezer is overwhelming. Need to put some baking soda in there and kill the smell.
Well I did it--I bought a new Canon camera with wifi and 24.2 megapixels
Congratulations Debby!!! What fun to get a new camera.
@AK_Tracy That's allot of onions...I used to do the same thing but now just the two of us I just get fresh ones when I need them. Burn some candles to take the smell out. Is it still too cold to leave windows open?
Yesterday turned out wonderful and with the wind, it really helped air out the house. The sun came up, the rain stopped for a couple hours and all the windows were open.
I cannot EVEN imagine chopping up 40# of onion! Do you wear gloves? I would think that much chopping would permeate your skin to the bone, LOL!
I used the food processor to help. I used it to slice the onions then quick couple chops to make them smaller, then the boys stuffed sandwich bags full of onion then into the freezer. So no gloves and its wasn't too bad.
Happy birthday to Mark!
Seems like this last couple weeks was Costco for so many of us. They must be rolling in the dough after all the scrap girls went. :floorlaugh:

Exactly!!!! Flowers and snow dont belong together. I love the designers and their work. So much talent. I admire every flower they create. I'm personally just not a big flower girl. Even IRL I dont have flowers around me. Like you, I scrap to the photos and they dont have flowers so its super hard to add them to a LO.

Happy belated birthday Debby!
:birthday2::birthdaygreet::birthday2:

Today should be a little low key. We shall see. Its raining so we wont be outside. Hubs told me there is a porcupine in the yard this morning. Now we have to watch the dogs and make sure they dont find the porcupine. I hope he waddles off and leaves for good. They are destructive little buggers. Well, need coffee so off to refill the cup. Have a wonderful day!

My thoughts exactly, I scrap to get my photos into daylight so I can relive the memories, it's why I typically don't do a teeny tiny picture, even when my glasses are clean, which seems to be seldom, I want to see the pictures.

I slept in this morning until after 8AM!!! Woke up to bright sunshine...and only light winds. Nice change from the strong winds and dust storms!! I need to go to the grocery store before the sale prices on a few items ends tonight. And I will go over to look over the new Grocery Market that opened this past weekend. Didn't want to go during the rush of opening days. And figure out the traffic pattern of getting into the parking lot there... as I will have to turn left across a very busy street with no traffic light.... or drive a mile longer and come in from the south. Will also have to see if the street where our local mailboxes are is finally opened again... it was closed to traffic since last Thursday so the cracks in the street could be repaired. The detour send lots of traffic down my street. Not sure when they will get to my street to do the repairs. It will be a pain while the street is closed.

Got the last of the April LOs uploaded to the galleries this morning. Whew... Time enough to take a breath before I start gearing up for May's challenges. :floorlaugh: I really want to work on the Art Journaling challenges for May. Have an idea of what I want to do for them.

Be Back in a few...

I am enjoying the discussion on what draws each of us to the collections or not... I am with Chris in that I don't care for buttons (also goes for stitches, stapes and other 'attachment items'....) To me LOs are laying flat so items won't slip off of them so don't need to the fastened down... Of course there is an exception... I love zippers that are partially unzipped so I can tuck items/photos in them. :claphands: I love flowers and greenery and making clusters.... that goes back to my love of making floral arrangements and wreaths for years in Real Life. I am drawn to vintage and steampunk and fantasy as well as seasonal collections. As for colors... I love the rich jewel tones but also like the softer colors of spring. And love the winter ones with snowflakes and winter scenes. And the vibrant colors of autumn.

And, Jeanne, I am with you... I want to be able to see the photos easily... so white space LOs are a real challenge for me.
I don't take many photos since my hubby has passed away and the grands have moved away. So most of the LOs I make are for fun and CT work - rather than family memory albums. And in those and all of my LOs - the colors need to be complimentary in both the photo/s and the collection used. I find it jarring if the photos have a yellow undertone but the rest of the page has blue undertones. So glad that the software now allows us to change the undertone colors of photo easily.

Being on Creative Teams for almost 20 years has had me working with many different styles and themes and has expanded what draws me to a collection. So glad that OScraps has so many designers and so many different styles to chose from. I get excited each month to see all the challenges - from monthly ones to designer's to art journaling... and have learned so much.

I get excited for the challenges too for they stretch me and make me try different styles and things. The templates usually have flowers and that challenges me to try and incorporate flowers. Super hard but I try. I'm not a cluster person. I find it hard to make the cluster and make it appealing. I dont want to cover or overlap any item cause I love the item as it is and the work that went into creating it. Its so fun how and what we all do. Its been fun to see (read). I love the clusters you make and how you and Chris use so many flowers and its stunning. When I try it looks like I handed a toddler the bouquet and said here have fun :floorlaugh: I love staples cause its fun but I am not a button person or stitching. I dont like hand sewing so that is what I see when I see buttons. But gems, they can be fun.

Good very late morning O friends! I have been face timing with my DD Heather and catching up with her as we haven't talked since Friday. Everyone is well and healthy and back to school thank goodness! Poor Hunter he sure had a bad stomach bug and missed a lot of school! Oh well that has cleared up and hopefully everyone stays healthy for quite some time! We had a good day of shopping at Costco and were hoping that it wouldn't be so crowded going on a Monday :hahano: it was even worse than going on the weekend!! Doesn't anyone work anymore??? It seemed they were all at Costco and must have run out of groceries over the weekend. Oh well we had all day and we took our time getting what we needed, hoping that maybe the lineups to the till would be shorter, but that never happened. It started to really rain on the way home, so we spent the rest of the afternoon just puttering around the house and putting groceries away. I cooked up the Asparagus stuffed chicken breasts that we got and my Gary took two over to the In-Laws for their supper, they were very happy to have them! Today my DH is driving his Dad to his eye appointment (needle in his eye ). it makes me cringe whenever I think about it! Hopefully my DH doesn't have to wait too long for him! It is very windy here today, guess we are getting that weather from you @faerywings and you @BrightEyes. Hope its nicer tomorrow for my hike and the railing install. I will work on some month end things here today and get some :laundry: going.

The BioBlitz was the last thing we did and they were happier counting the number of spruce cones than finding different species. But they were having fun, learning how to use the binoculars and sketch a map. Allll good!
You had such an interesting day yesterday and I don't blame you for not moving from the couch til bedtime!! It made me tired just reading about all that you did!! Hope your day today is just as fun!!
We did well, he's very cute and just 8 years old. Yesterday he beat me in Junior Monopoly and today in Battleship, he's very smart!
He sounds like a great little man! Mind you it wouldn't take much to beat me at Battleship, I am no strategist LOL
Congrats on the new Camera I have a Canon EOS but sadly haven't used in years! I love the photos from it but found it very cumbersome to pack around, we should probably sell it, but you never know we might get out and use it again if we go on a trip to Italy sometime in the future. Happy Be-lated birthday to you! How nice to have everyone sing to you, even if you did not like it. Your trip is coming up quickly, you must be getting excited to get going!
Today my daughter who lives in Ontario is supposed to have tornado watches :holysheep:they went from 41F to 84F in less than 24 hours, crazy weather for sure!
So I like it, too! ;)
I have many days like yours where I know I did a lot of things but for the life of me I can't remember just what it was that kept me so busy that I couldn't make in here . Happy Birthday to your Mark today! I think that its great that he loves something so simple to make, guys are like that!
Yes! I've loved purple since I was a little girl and no one else did and my favorite, too is the rich, darker jewel tone although I like any hue. Honestly? I love flowers but since my layouts are mostly all about the photos, I can't see overwhelming them with too many flowers that detract from them.
My Grandson Hunter has always loved purple! It makes his Dad nuts because he doesn't think boys should like a color that could be mistaken for pink LOL he needs to get over it!!
Today should be a little low key. We shall see. Its raining so we wont be outside. Hubs told me there is a porcupine in the yard this morning. Now we have to watch the dogs and make sure they dont find the porcupine. I hope he waddles off and leaves for good. They are destructive little buggers.
Hope your day is low key! Yikes a porcupine in your yard?? We don't have those here on the Island nor do we have skunks, we do have lots of racoons and they are very destructive too! Oh BTW we do not have any Business Costcos here either, seems the only place that does is in Ontario. Guess there just isn't the need for them here yet, but maybe soon with so many moving out this way.
I will go over to look over the new Grocery Market that opened this past weekend. Didn't want to go during the rush of opening days. And figure out the traffic pattern of getting into the parking lot there... as I will have to turn left across a very busy street with no traffic light.... or drive a mile longer and come in from the south.
I hope the new Grocery Market is nice! I love to check out the new places, but good to go when the rush has slowed down! I hate those intersections where you have to be worried about crossing the road!!! Hopefully they can get a light or something there to make it safer!

Well its getting late and I haven't eaten yet, so better get myself something and get busy with the laundry and the rest of the day! Have a great one ladies!! :waving3:

Exactly!!!! Flowers and snow dont belong together. I love the designers and their work. So much talent. I admire every flower they create. I'm personally just not a big flower girl. Even IRL I dont have flowers around me. Like you, I scrap to the photos and they dont have flowers so its super hard to add them to a LO.
Love it, love it, LOVE IT Tracy! I agree with all you said. Especially about snow, you know how I dislike it and cold and it is not FLOWERY to me! :rotfl: :beatingheart: :rotfl:
