vickyday

Love my O Family!
CHEERY O
Quick in and out......heading to a women's church function so won't be back until later today!
Have a wonderful Saturday, my sweet O friends!

Good morning, @vickyday
I am so glad you opened the thread!

I lost track of days when I woke up this and thought I needed to be up for work. Not today but I have my busiest week coming up starting tomorrow. I woke up at 5 but fell back asleep until 6.

So are ya wondering how the field trip went? I hope everyone is nodding yes, because I am gonna tell ya anyway :p
It went great! A few blips and hiccups but it was a fun time. And what would a field trip be without a few blips and hiccups?
The biggest downside was the pollen. These kids were having such a tough time, several of them needed to put ice packs on their eyes because they were so swollen. I've never seen anything like it. I led both of the geology rotations and pretty much threw the original lesson plan out the window. :giggle4:
I touched on the main themes about the age and formation of the rocks in the NJ highlands, the three main types of rocks, and then we went right into the "find a rock" bit. IMHO-- I think the kids really had fun with that. I had them work in groups to find a rock, use magnifying glasses to examine it. Then they had to name it (We had several "Crystals" and two Dwayne The Rock Johnsons hehehe!) and give it a backstory based on its characteristics. As they shared, I was able to use my very limited knowledge to ask more questions about the type of rock/minerals in them.
If any of you are rockhounds, please point me in the right direction for ways I can improve, refine, etc.

I have strict orders from the Director to stay off my feet today so I don't hurt myself tomorrow at Earth Day. Should be easy enough, I have to link all of my color play LOs today and then work on my HS Pod field trip on Monday and the new afternoon session on Tuesday. I have 5 kids signed up so far, hoping for a few more. dance3

Have a fab weekend!! ♥

The snow yesterday disappeared in just a couple of hours, and we're back to spring again. The birds are back to singing, and all is well with the world. We have a "blackbird singing in the dead of night". He's looking for love, hope his lady will arrive soon. I love the blackbird's singing, it's so beautiful. There's another bird, I'm not sure but I think it's the tit, who has the most annoying mating call. Drives me nuts.
So glad the snow is gone and spring is back. I have a wren outside my window that calls nonstop every morning. Good thing I love animals because there are times I really wish it would take a break. YKWIM?
And some great news: I just signed the contract for working at the library again! It might not really start until the summer. Unless someone get's sick or something. But at least - I'm back.
I am so happy for you!!

Me too, and we haven't even really gotten spring yet. I used my inhaler 3 times yesterday, all the rain is wonderful, but the mold & pollen, oh my, paired with humidity wreaks havoc on my breathing.
Are you feeling any better? The pollen levels here are reading "Moderate" which I am not buying, unless it is that everything bloomed at once and no one is semi-desensitized?? The lack of rain isn't helping either. It's supposed to rain all day but nothing so far. Send your rain this way, please!
Side note: We do a One-Match Challenge during our Survival Showdown rotation. I think almost everyone's fires lit with one match, and it wasn't b/c the fires were built spectacularly, everything is just soooo dry. So yeah, we could use the rain today.
Hope you stayed warm at the games last night.
BTW-- I *LOVE* your siggie. Love. It. ♥

Mark and I slept in until about 9 this morning! He went to bed at 11 but I went to bed at 2:30! So I got my usual 6 hours.
Nothing on the docket today. It's rainy and gloomy, so Mark isn't even going to the woods. Right now he is waiting for his phone to charge. He didn't plug it in correctly or something last night as he only had 4% power this morning so he is doing puzzles right now. I'm going to try to do some more challenges today!
Sorry to hear about the rain and gloom. Hope you got lots of scrapping done. Have fun at the church group today!
The decks turned out wonderful, we couldn’t be happier with them! They will be getting a 5 star rating from us on their website. The railings on the top front deck will be installed on Wednesday, so that is good news and I will take photos of the after when they are done.
Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They must look awesome! Were you able to get some time in for scrapping? You must be reveling in the quiet.
The right shoulder is very sore this morning - even though I rubbed it down with AsperCreme before I went to sleep last night. So today will have to be a 'do nothing' day... and let it recover. Will do some 'wall walking' gentle stretches with it this afternoon.
Did you sleep on it funny? Hope the wall walking is doing its trick and you are all better today.

I really appreciate everyone sharing my happiness at being back to work with me ♥

HAHAHAHA I saw them last night and already downloaded two of them!!!! They were all so beautiful. I loved something about every one of them.
Which ones did you get-- so far?
Have fun scrapping today- hope you are relaxing after being in the car all day.
Again I should read the entire posts before I comment:
nope tomorrow we have to cut, pack and freeze all the onions, peppers, mushrooms etc we just bought. Lots and lots of chopping. Have a wonderful night!
boo!
Maybe tomorrow you can scrap.

HAGD!!

Good Morning!

Which ones did you get-- so far?
I instantly fell for FoxySquirrels purple dragon. Yes it was a heavy on purple kit (have issues with purple that I'm working on) but that dragon demanded I buy him. SO I did. I also got Carol W's kit. I want to buy them all because there was something about each one that drew me in but the heavy flower content held me back. They're beautiful, I just dont use flowers when I scrap.

Its raining again today so that helps with all the food prep we need to do. I wont mind since the desire to be outside wont be there.
Not much else happening.Have a wonderful day!

Morning, gals... This is going to be another "Do Nothing - Rest the shoulder" Day. The right shoulder and upper arm is still stiff and painful this morning. I guess I really did a number on it when I was taking the covers off the DVDs... had to use a dinner knife slid between the tape and the cover then push with knife to get the cover to slide loose on over a third of them. Too much repetitive motion using the right shoulder (had rotator cuff surgery on it several years ago). << sigh >> It needs to be a PJ day, too... as can't stand the bra strap on it, either... :thud: Guess it will be a massager/recliner/reading day for me.

I know many of you have made some LOs with the Color Play collections/kits. After adding them to the gallery, please add them to the April Color Play Collection Thread so we can oooh and ahhhh over them. And the Weekly Color Play Blog LOs are selected from from there. It is a wonderful thread to stir your mojo.

Need some pain meds and the massager... HAGD

I wondered if you would also see an abundance of flowers in the CPs. I was overwhelmed at first and wasn't too aligned with all the purple either. But I've seen wonderful LOs from the kits, so must be lots of other good stuff.

More rain off and on today. And we had a great time with the ladies today!

@faerywings I sure hope you are following your directors orders. You don't want a set-back. Your enthusiasm for work is wonderful I bet everyone just loves it. I'm glad your field trip went well and that you are happy. We took our boat to the Atlantic Highlands years ago...we were at sea level so didn't see many rocks--LOL- your field trip sounds very interesting.

@BrightEyes Ouch...I get the shoulder pain thing I feel sorry for you. Rest it, I hope it's better soon it's always a good day to read a book.

@AK_Tracy Wow wow wow all those pizza's. It's amazing that you fed that many people. Kudos to you are your partner in crime. I hope you got some rest after that marathon event. You sure had a low snow year but now you have rain to keep you slowed down.

Friday we finished repairing the shed. I put all the tools back in it so it looks so much better. Friday night our little dinner party was wonderful. My twice backed potatoes were a hit..good thing because they are a fair amount of work. I also made zucchini with mushrooms& onions with Italian spices and carrots with maple syrup from our son...gave the left over to my friend who loved them.
Dessert was cheesecake made by one of our friends. Jay's Smoked Cordon Blue were really good too. His smoker died at the very end so we had to finish off in the oven lucky they were smoky but need a few more degrees to be done. One of our friends taught me how to prune my fig trees so I plan to do that later when its cooler outside. There was a wildfire in our county park that burned for almost a day, they used 100 loads of water that the helicopter put on it. We could see the smoke from our house, it was kinda scary. I released my last monarch so the count total was 72, it's rewarding. I got a few more good bird pics so I plan to make a few more pages. I guess I need to get my act together to do a Color Play page.
Today is paint the shed day. I had the paint mixed to match house the roller and pan are ready as is my trim brush. I just need to wait for it to get light. Right now I am enjoying my coffee in my favorite mug from Yellowstone and remembering last years summer trip out there. I hope everyone has a great day.

I'm sending you gentle purple hugs from the purple lover here, Tracy. And - sure do get it about the flowers, I looked.... and I didn't. We are so alike that way, my friend..... :heartpumppink:  :beatingheart:

Happy it went so well, Chris - that's great and must feel good... And for sure the NJ pollen is horrible this year and right now. It's true, with our crazy spring everything is blooming at once, but I'm worse then usual and friends who normally don't react are! Friday I looked at my friends' cars, they were totally green... And that all day rain? Barely anything here either until about 8-ish or so - a HUGE down pour... That didn't last very long. In the middle of the day the sun came out for awhile and it got very steamy!

Check it out!!
Gary, Caitlyn, and I spent so much time watching this guy from the LR window. I grabbed the old DSLR first but it's been so long since I used it, I forgot how. LOL Thankfully, I was able to get a bunch of pics from my phone.

Watching the pileated woodpecker was the highlight of my day, by far! He stripped off an entire section of bark in no time, flinging the bits of wood all over. I have no clue if this is the same one I have seen before, but usually I see them a few times each season. Rarely do I get to take any photos where you can tell what it is :p

Busy day yesterday. I think I am 85-90% ready for the next two days of lessons. Thurs and Friday are field trips and one of them is the Survival Showdown I just did, and the other I am leading is Forest Floor. I've never done that one, let alone lead it, but it should be an easy one. It's about biodiversity and ecosystems which I have taught the HS kids.

Before I head out this morning,I have to come up with some easy dinner ideas (does boxed mac and cheese 4 days in a row count?) and place my grocery order. I am not going to have time or energy when I get home today, and then tomorrow I'll be running around all day as well.
I made a vegan chorizo garlic cream pasta last night that was really good. But what to make Sun-Sat? No idea!

Before I post this, I have a request: If anyone reading can send better weather vibes, I'd love it! Thankfully, the rain stopped overnight but today is *cold* and very windy. All of that spring weather--- gone. It is 45* and with the wind, the real feel is 30!

xoxoxo!

I know I am biased since I am on FS's CT but I *love* that kit and had a blast making a LO with it. That purple mushroom and dragon are so dang pretty!
I don't know how you and @MariJ avoid flower-heavy kits. I can't scrap using buttons, but they are easy to ignore. Flowers are much harder.
How did food prep go, everything ready for the upcoming month?

@BrightEyes I didn;t realize how intensive it was taking apart the DVD/VHS covers were. Had I known, I would have scolded you earlier. :shakingsense: JK! Hope the shoulder is rested today and feeling great.

@scrap-genie hi, jean!! You are going to be so proud of me. I am officially obsessed with birds and now I can identify 20 species pretty confidently. I am still struggling with calls/songs but I have a few of those down too. I always think of you when I ID a bird ♥

@vickyday Was yesterday a widows' devotion or a regular meeting? I am not surprised you had a wonderful day.
We took our boat to the Atlantic Highlands years ago...we were at sea level so didn't see many rocks--LOL-
Nope, I guess you wouldn't, unless the water was choppy. Then you would have seen a rocky boat.

Friday night dinner party sounds incredible!
I hope the weather and everything cooperated while you were painting the shed. Hope you didn't overdo it. Relax today, just as I would if I were you. (*snorts*)

That is what my guess was too, it was so cold and then bam! Everything bloomed at once. Since I was wearing my boot and one sneaker on Friday, you could see how green the sneaker was when I wore both of them yesterday. I had to take paper towels to clean the boot off too, the pollen was stuck in all of the cutouts.
We had that downpour around 7 and that was about it. It drizzled a little during the day but not much more than that.

Hugs, my dear Ooos!

Belly button day, waiting for Wendell to finish his daily ablutions and then we are off for a full day of v bleacher butt. First game @ 8, then 2 hr. break - Games at 11,12 and I forget the rest. Possible championship game at 5. Personals will have to wait. Just started raining again. Hugs & love to you all my O-mazing friends.

When all I see are mostly flowers and very little embellishments related to the them of the kit, I just don't buy, actually I barely look. Helps the budget for sure... :rotfl:

Morning, all. Yes, I did spend yesterday in PJs - and read and relaxed most of the time. The shoulder is not quite as sore this morning but will take it easy again today. @faerywings - I couldn't believe how hard some of the covers were to get off... it was mainly 2 brands of VHS tapes. Took me awhile to figure out how to get them off after struggling with several of them. Thank goodness most of the ones that are left to do are not those brands. Won't be doing them until Thursday (after trash pick-up) or later..... I need to up-date the DVD inventory on the computer before I decide which DVDs to move into the family room cabinet. I am thinking that I will move all the series and multi-movies ones in there. Then it will be time to sort and put the 4 stacks of DVDs I have bought recently into the bookcase. Now my brain is spinning with what when, and where to get it all done. Off to take my shower and give it a rest for awhile. :lol23: :rotfl::floorlaugh:

Good Morning All!

I hope you got some rest after that marathon event. You sure had a low snow year but now you have rain to keep you slowed down.
Rest??? What's that???? Slow down? Rain? Nope, just means we are busy and wet. Have sat as much as possible but its still been busy. Tuesday I should be able to do nothing.
I'm sending you gentle purple hugs from the purple lover here, Tracy
I was thinking of you and all the others here who love purple. It helped that it was a vibrant purple and not pastel. The bold color helped me buy it for sure.
But what to make Sun-Sat? No idea!
Think simmer. Spaghetti sauce. Soup. Stroganoff. Chili..... shoot, those are all meat dishes, sorry. Rice with teriyaki sauce and sautéed veggies.
I don't know how you and @MariJ avoid flower-heavy kits. I can't scrap using buttons, but they are easy to ignore. Flowers are much harder.

Its easy LOL I see flowers how you see buttons. The flowers are beautiful! And I admit I have bought a kit or two because they were so beautiful but they just sit there and dont end up getting used. We dont have a lot of flowers IRL and so they just dont fit my photos. I love roses and they smell so good but they dont fit my photos when scrapping. I feel bad buying flowers (kits) and then never using them. I was a sticker/stamp heavy paper scrapper so I want/use things that fit my photos to add to them or add sass. When a kit says "name of kit" I am expecting lots of items that fit that theme. Like Marilyn, if its mostly flowers, I skip past without really looking. Makes me sad that I miss out on things but I also am saddened when I dont use kits that I bought.

Cant believe April is almost over. The good news is that it means new challenges and AJ layouts are coming. Maybe I'll challenge myself to pull out all those flowers for the next set of challenges. Would be a challenge for sure.
Well, need more coffee and dogs demanding breakfast. Have a great day.

Morning ladies... its been a super busy weekend for us as we have been getting truck loads of mulch for the In-Law's place across the street, it looks so much better now that its laid down! I can't believe that they have never had mulch on their gardens before:crazy:. We convinced them it was a good idea as none of us want to do all the weeding that needs done over there. We are getting too old to have more than one property to work on!! They refuse to hire gardeners . Anyway we are off to get a few more truck loads for our gardens and we will both be so stiff and sore after all this shovelling and raking!! It's our last nice day for a while so we thought we better get it done! Tomorrow we are off to Costco to drain the bank account :giggle4:. I hope you all have a lovely day, sorry no personals again today I gotta get outta here :eek3:

Hugs, my dear Ooos!
It was at the same place as the widows' meetings but different. It was something for all ladies in our area. A couple of the widows travel 2 hours for our monthly meeting and they were there yesterday, too. Our church took 6 ladies and we were the second furthest from the church hosting the event. The church has different programs each year. This is the first time they offered refreshments to go with the theme, My Cup Runneth Over. After the meeting our ladies always stop at Applebee's for lunch on the way home. I got home about 3:30. It was a good day.

Good afternoon,
Quick in and out as Mark and I will be leaving to meet our friends for a bike ride in 45 minutes.
Had a good day yesterday with the Ladies' Jubilee.
Been a busy Sunday. I'll update more later!
HAGAfternoon!
