That was me and everyone else at Earth Day yesterday. It was sooo cold and windy. We had wind gusts of 40+ mph. Everything was blowing away, even stuff that was underneath rocks and bricks. But it was fun and I got to spend some time chatting with Scott. The two scholarship interns always hear me talking (ahem, bragging TBH) about them so they got a kick out of meeting him. At the end of the day, they sat down at my table to do the self-portrait but instead of making their own, they had a competition to make the "best Chris." I was at Scott's table when they finished, so they came over and showed them to me and him. Scott took one look, pointed and said, "wheelchair mom!" I had to tell the interns the story of wheelchair mom. Years ago, I had my wisdom teeth out and I was in bad shape. The kids made a face out of cardboard, glued yarn to it, and then made a body out of kiddie golf clubs, propped it in a wheelchair. Ta-da! Wheelchair Mom who took care of them while I was recovering. (I still think she did d better job than me LOL)
Scott took pics of the "best Chris-es" and sent them to Caitlyn, who knows the one intern as her advisee. i was sharing the story with Caitlyn-- I didn't know that Scott sent her the pics at this point-- and she pulls the pics up on her phone. "You mean these Best Chris-es?" Bwuahah!

Now, everyone knows that my family is

I keep saying it, but it amazes me how bonded the Weis staff is to each other and to the place. Everyone who works there gets that connection and you can feel it. One of Scott's kids, when Scott was a camp counselor/intern there, went from camp-kid to volunteer to staff. He is 16 now and loves the place. Anne found pics of him and Lauren way back when, when he was 9 or 10. Just adorable.

Today is HS Pod Field Trip, and the weather looks to be cooperating. We are making compost in a bag, looking for decomposers, and will be doing a little BioBlitz to collect data on different types of animals we find.
Should be lots of fun!

HAGD!

BTW-- my friend across the street texted me that she has seen the hummingbirds at her feeders!
Nothing that my feeder/cam has picked up yet, other than the occasional finch sitting on the perch.

Belly button day, waiting for Wendell to finish his daily ablutions and then we are off for a full day of v bleacher butt. First game @ 8, then 2 hr. break - Games at 11,12 and I forget the rest. Possible championship game at 5. Personals will have to wait. Just started raining again. Hugs & love to you all my O-mazing friends.
How is your bleacher butt feeling today? Hope that the games and the weather were all good news!
Helps the budget for sure... :rotfl:
hahah!! That is a silver lining. What is your favorite element that makes a kit a Must Have?

Now my brain is spinning with what when, and where to get it all done. Off to take my shower and give it a rest for awhile. :lol23: :rotfl::floorlaugh:
Yes, tell your brain to chill out until your body is ready for the task again. :)
Think simmer. Spaghetti sauce. Soup. Stroganoff. Chili..... shoot, those are all meat dishes, sorry. Rice with teriyaki sauce and sautéed veggies.
See, that is my problem... In the IP thread, the spaghetti recipe looked delish, but you needed ground beef (that I can sub with Beyond Beef) and cream cheese. I don't think that vegan cream cheese will hold up in an IP.
Its easy LOL I see flowers how you see buttons. The flowers are beautiful! And I admit I have bought a kit or two because they were so beautiful but they just sit there and dont end up getting used.
yes, but do you viscerally shudder when you have to scrap a challenge LO with a flower? :floorlaugh:
It makes total sense though, if your photos don't fit with the floral-heavy kits.
Oh hey, I thought of you yesterday!! The camp-kid-turned-staff was telling me about a trip he took to AK last summer. 2 weeks of a land and sea cruise. He said AK is the most amazing place he's ever been and that if I get a chance, I have to go. I asked if he saw any moose-- he saw two from the tour bus-- so maybe they were part of the Moose-Lyft/Uber Team and I'll get to you someday
Cant believe April is almost over. The good news is that it means new challenges and AJ layouts are coming. Maybe I'll challenge myself to pull out all those flowers for the next set of challenges. Would be a challenge for sure.
Same here-- about the month being almost over. No more button challenges for me, thank you very much, but if you can do one with flowers, I will be impressed!

its been a super busy weekend for us
Color me shocked.
(Bwuahahah!! )
I hope that you are not too sore today, that is a ton of heavy work to do. Enjoy Costco. /s

That's our beloved childhood friend, Woody Woodpecker!
Yup!!
It was at the same place as the widows' meetings but different. It was something for all ladies in our area. A couple of the widows travel 2 hours for our monthly meeting and they were there yesterday, too. Our church took 6 ladies and we were the second furthest from the church hosting the event. The church has different programs each year. This is the first time they offered refreshments to go with the theme, My Cup Runneth Over. After the meeting our ladies always stop at Applebee's for lunch on the way home. I got home about 3:30. It was a good day.
It sounds very fulfilling and uplifting ♥

Enjoy the day, my friends!

Morning O friends! The weather is changing here today, looks like some rain moving in, but thats ok it will give these tired old bones and muscles a break :giggle4: . Still not done with the mulch yet, but got one load put in the backyard, it looks great! We are off to vote in the Federal Election here today and then hitting the highway to go to Costco. I need to check my list again to make sure I haven't forgotten anything and add the things that the In-Law's want us to get for them too. Looking forward to having the railings installed on the top front deck on Wednesday, if its a nice day, then I will go hike and DH will stay home to wait for the installer. I am hoping that the sun will be shining for our hike to Stocking Creek a beautiful and easy hike. We make it a few K's longer by starting in Chemainus and walking some of the Trans Canada Trail to get there, so it ends up being almost a 10k hike. Anyway I will get going and hit the :showering:I hope you all have a lovely day!

Now, everyone knows that my family is
I think we have known that for quite some time Chris!! LOL just kidding, we know that your family are a lot of fun and its so great how you all have such a good time together! Sounds like it was a blustery day for you yesterday, sure hope that its calmed down today! Maybe all that wind was blowing in some warmer sunny days for you? It warms my heart to hear how much you love your work!! :heartpumplove:

Good Morning!

What is your favorite element that makes a kit a Must Have?
Snowmen!!! LOL For me it has to be versatile and fit the theme. If its "winter" I expect lots of snowflakes, snowmen, cold cool colors, trees, no flowers. If its car related, gears, wheels, mud, keys, etc not flowers. But I am a sucker for hearts. Snowmen and hearts make me look long and hard at a kit.
yes, but do you viscerally shudder when you have to scrap a challenge LO with a flower? :floorlaugh:
Almost. I have avoided challenges because of flowers though.
he saw two from the tour bus-- so maybe they were part of the Moose-Lyft/Uber Team and I'll get to you someday
Oh man if you want to see some wildlife, you need to hit Denali and take the tour bus back up in the mountain. We did it in 2000 and brown bears and moose. It was so much fun.

Sounds like youre getting our weather. We've been having lots of rain and wind. Hubs looked online and there's a cloud from HI to us so I'm not planning on seeing the sun for a bit. Its raining again today. Makes it hard to air out the house.
hitting the highway to go to Costco
Have you been to a business Costco? We went for the first time last week. Really drains the bank account. But the prices were better as it was bigger bulk items. We were able to get sweet onions for less then $1 a pound.

Need to clean house today and do laundry. Despite the rain we will be opening the windows. We chopped, bagged and froze 40 lbs of onions Saturday and my house just smells of onion. The freezer smells of onion. Its everywhere. Need to air out the house. I love onion but I'm over my house smelling like onion :floorlaugh: Need more coffee. Have a wonderful day!

:windy1:

Yesterday was terrible with winds over 60mph most of the afternoon and into the night!!! So much dust/dirt in the air. Couldn't see the mountain due to all the dirt in the air!!! Had to keep the house closed up all day. Even had a small tornado in the far southwest of Albuquerque in the late afternoon... no damage to houses there, thank goodness. Today is suppose to be calmer. There is a haze this morning so plan on keeping the house closed up again today. Cooler weather - might make it to 71*F late this afternoon and lows around 40*F to 42*F at night.

I did manage to get the DVD inventory up-dated and printed out yesterday. And alphabetized the new ones so it will be easier to add them to the bookcase. Going to give it another day or so before I start moving the ones into the family room cabinet. Don't think the body is up to all the sitting on the floor cleaning the cabinet and moving DVDs yet. :(

Off to get my :showering:and dressed. BBL

I don't know why I always second & triple guess the spelling of bleacher in bleacher-butt, it always looks like something that is going to permanently remove the color from the undies when really only add temporary wrinkles to one thing and temporary wrinkles to something that already has a bunch of permanent wrinkles. The 8:00 a.m. game was UGH-ly, they spotted a team they've faced before 7 points right out of the starting gate and it didn't a whole lot better. There were a couple teams from their own club that they let get in their head, but long story short, the tournament was over for them at 1:30. Lauren played like her hair was on fire every game and the nicest complement came from the coach who creamed them in the first 2 games, he told our coach that his middle (Lauren) was a really great player. We stopped for groceries and came home and crashed and burned.

We've been in severe weather 4 out of 5 weather alert all day long. Now we're in a tornado warning until 6:30, the sirens just went off about 15 minutes ago. We haven't been in a weather 4 alert since 2011.

I had Wendell uncover the AC today and and change the air filter in the furnace . I could breathe so much easier at the volleyball center in the air conditioning yesterday, today I can't catch a full breath and I've had a headache all day. Allergy people, you know what I mean, funny how humidity in Key West doesn't bother me a bit.

Keeping an eye on weather now, I'll do personals later or tomorrow.

Hmmmmmm.. Hard to say, but first off - if a kit's theme is photography for instance, I like to see more then 1 or 2 relevant embellishments. I often see a themed kit with mostly flowers and one or two appropriate pieces..... Nope.
I guess if I thought about it, I like ribbons, fasteners and things like that, but no. When I really like of it, it's the relevance I look for.
Not sure I'm making sense, it's been a long day and I should be in bed, have to be at my neighbor's by 6:45am tomorrow to stay with the little guy and put him on the bus at 8:30 since Dad is away this week.... :sleeping2:

I cannot EVEN imagine chopping up 40# of onion! Do you wear gloves? I would think that much chopping would permeate your skin to the bone, LOL!
