Today we finally got it together to get pix for our passport renewals and mailed them in. Don't know that we'll go anywhere, but birding in Canada (at Niagara Falls in November) used to be a big treat we enjoyed. Also Iceland Air announced direct service to Reykjavik will start in May...
Not only do I see hibiscus, but giant varieties, everywhere.

Yesterday was beautiful and we did enjoy some birding. Didn't really see a lot, but a few shorebirds, an Osprey and two Bald Eagles were good. We didn't have any great expectations, so that was really nice. I made dinner with microwaved ears of corn, something I only learned about this summer...
With the meeting cancelled I was happy to be FREE today, so we are off shortly for some birding on a lovely sunny (though slightly chilly) day.
Chris, glad your day was fairly smooth and today sounds like more of the same. Sorry it is so cold though.
Nancy, welcome back! We've been eager...
It is chilly here but the sun is bright so I'm happy. DH did his bird survey this am and is napping now. Tomorrow's weather sounds ideal and maybe we'll go do something. I'm free as my friend had to cancel our meeting tomorrow. It's a family related thing so I know how it goes. The historical...
Good afternoon! Cooled off a lot here too and cloudy. Nothing much planned until Saturday when I'm meeting with another genealogist with whom I'm working on a project for the historical society. That will be good.
Chris, don't most days pass in a blur? Oh, guess that's just me. Know you'll...
The week began with a very fun time at a regional picnic for genealogists.

Where did the day go? Well, I'm finally here. DH's music group played (a sing-along) for a luncheon for Meals on Wheels volunteers yesterday and it was very fun. The group has been growing and three of the eight who played yesterday I had not met before. One turns out to be another retired COBOL...
We didn't see any animals during the (partial here) eclipse, so don't know what they did, but this human was very excited to watch the eclipse in leafy shadows. Here are some of my photos:
We didn't have special glasses to view the sun but did use a pinhole viewer and played with the image in the leaf shadows. We'll definitely get glasses seven years from now (hopefully) when we will be in the path of totality.

Have to hurry so we can go to DH's music group's gig today, but want to say how glad I am others noticed the leaf shadow eclipse images. We got to show them to a neighbor also. I'll be doing a LO of shadow pix.
Hope it's a good day for all.

Quick "Hi!" to all. Looking forward to the eclipse this afternoon. We'll get about 80% coverage, enough to be interesting I think. Hopefully it won't be cloudy.
Chris, the bees in the coneflowers sound great. Do try to get photos. Love them both (flowers and bees).
Hope everyone has a...
Afternoon Ozzies. Lovely day here. We're off to run errands like buying ink for the color printer so I can print the pages from DH's music group for tomorrow. Today's paper has a page on the solar eclipse (Everyone excited?) including methods of alternative viewing. DH has made a pinhole viewer...
Chris, the DNA tests at Ancestry are strictly for genealogical purposes and don't give any health related info. 23 and Me does health related testing, but I am not familiar with what they cover. Wish I could be more help, but that's all I know.
Spent the morning viewing a live webinar in two...
