We can't believe what bold little critters they are and how many are here, maybe for our bumper crop of acorns.

My nephew recently shared this photo of my parents and his daughter taken so long ago. I'm really glad to have it.

I'm feeling the cold today! What an autumn feel. Class yesterday was good. I finished the drawing started last week (it's on my blog) and started another, both on 12 x 12" papers. Tomorrow it the annual open house for the genealogy group at the historical society, so I've got to get something to...
This shorebird was particularly cooperative on a visit to the marsh on Sept. 24.

I've got my mixed media class this afternoon, so need to be getting ready soon. It has cooled off here and that may be it for heat this year as it really is October now. Hard to believe. Here is a shot of the pumpkins. I did not crochet the doily, that is my DH's aunt.
Chris, that sounds...
We really got heat yesterday too. Official high was 93, a record high not just for Oct. 1st, but the whole month. Previous Oct. high was 90 set on Oct. 6, 1946! It wasn't unpleasant though. Today is warm but not that hot.
Chris, you really inspired me with the pumpkins! I had to make a set...
I've been slowly working up pages for New Mexico, but this story has not been told until now.

It did warm up inside and out yesterday, so all was good. Today is supposed to be warmish and humid, but was only 68 outside when I got up. Boring day doing laundry :washing: and DH watching college football, but artwork calls too.
Chris, I know the party will be fun and everyone will enjoy...
Not much to add other than I'm COLD. Our old indoor/outdoor thermometer conked out a while back and DH got a new one yesterday. Thus we know it is warmer outside than in this morning, not yet up to 70 inside. It is sunny and getting warmer out, so I think I need to stand in the sun.
Chris...
Yesterday we were a little tired (or joints creaky) and didn't bird as much but partly because it was windy and not very birdy. Still we had a good time and saw nice things. This afternoon I had my art class again. I had no ideas going in but found a great paper to work on and just went at it...
We had a lovely day yesterday and the new marsh is coming along very well. Of course, before it was ever a farm, the whole area was marshland. There are other parks and wildlife areas in the vicinity and we visited two of them. Saw lots of birds, but not much in the way of land birds. But before...
Just a quick HI before we head out to the marsh.
Chris, definitely a good sign mom is going alone. Good luck with grocery and those pumpkins, they sound like they'll be so cute.
We've had some lovely days. Yesterday got hot but today is cooler following some rain. Next week they promise some more heat. Last Thursday H&S did a singalong at the library nearby for the third time. It was again very good. This time I took a video of one song and part of another. First time...
I recently learned that this house in on the National Register of Historic Places, quite a thrill since I know my family lived there for many years. Sadly it's not in very good shape, but my photos from 2014 still look pretty good.

Once long ago we found a nest of Green Herons here and hope this sighting means they are nesting here again. A fun find in any event.

Felis, love that you got those photos of your bird buddies. I'm not sure what they are, but my best guess is that they are juvenile starlings. Take a look at these photos for comparison: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=juvenile+starling&t=seamonkey&iax=images&ia=images. Starlings love fruit and strut...
Felis, not to worry, I'm fine. Just back to my normal non-talkative self. I scrapped lots last month but this month zero ideas. Started a page for a challenge but didn't really like it and haven't looked at it since. I'm giving a talk on our lineage groups tomorrow evening and Saturday the...
