You only see two here, but there were really three deer in the middle of the afternoon.

Bright oak leaves contrasted a lot with our garage roof's snow on Nov. 1st to show the trick played on us Halloween night.

Yikes, I feel like I must have passed on our cold. Can that happen in the forum? Halloween night sure played a trick as this morning things had turned white. It's mostly gone now, but it is still cold even if above freezing. We finally got serious and filled out our ballots today and...
Yesterday we both felt a lot better, even cleaned up and went out to dinner. I was eager to have my favorite salad. Today I'm going to the meeting and should be fine. Just hope I'm past spreading it around.
Chris that sounds like an awful lot of work doing the spackling. Not familiar with...
Really gray here but rain and wind seem to be subsiding. And it really is fall as the poinsettia is now putting out reddish leaves, a certain sign that the days are shorter. DH is feeling a bit better, at least his temp is normal. I'm not doing so well but still a milder version than his cold...
Not a nice weekend here with DH sick and me still feeling like it's about to hit me too. At least he had Ohio State's noon game to get up for and we're watching that now. If you want to see my goofy beetle drawing, I used it in a LO...
This particular beetle is all dark but I've given it a fictitious bright coloration. My drawing isn't that accurate either, but I like the way it looks. The background has a photo blended in of a small oak branch with acorn caps still attached but the acorns all fallen earlier.

Wednesday evening I did some sketching at the natural history museum with the little group there again. I partly worked with a display of beetles that are fascinating. Yesterday was class again and I finished the current piece which is now on my blog. The teacher brought her new pearlescent...
Felis, hope you see this reply about the chipmunk. It was a very real animal. I'm sure it wanted some water just like the birds and other animals. At the time there wasn't much water but we have a little overhead pipe that drips in water and some birds use it as a drinking fountain. And it froze...
We've been having some wonderful, sunny weather and not even that chilly. This morning started dark and gloomy with some rain but is sunny again. Friday DH didn't feel up to a bird survey when the alarm went off so early but in the afternoon we spent two hours birding nearby and were so glad we...
Friday we saw many Blue Jays. They're out gathering acorns and this one let me get a few photos.

We found this big paper wasp nest Friday while birding. It has such wonderful shapes and swirls, but in autumn, no wasps.

Good evening, all. Just today I'm seeing that the trees are suddenly showing a lot of color. Class was today and I have a new drawing done and on my blog.
Turns out my teacher is the president of the Guild of Nature Artists at the natural history museum. Turns out that is a fancy name for a...
Nancy, we too cross posted! Great news on your rehab. And yes, the Nationals sweep of St. Louis is quite a shock. Saw that first inning last night and thought it was all over, and it was.
Yesterday was so beautiful, a perfect September day (on Oct. 15th) with sunshine, bright blue sky and nice temps. I'll keep remembering that today with rain and 50s all day. I did find a new plaid flannel shirt that is beautiful. Got one last year in different colors that I still love and will...
