Good morning, O-zies!!!
I am back in reality. Boo!
What a nice time we had. The place we stayed in was beautiful, the weather (for October) was wonderful. Food- awesome, service- same.

We got down around 11.30, checked in but had to wait for the room to be ready (check-in isn't officially until 3 pm) so we grabbed sandwiches at the fab deli and ate them on the boardwalk. After we got into the room, we changed into "beach clothes" then sat on the beach for a couple of hours. We collected some shells. I found some really smooth broken pieces that I am wondering if I could make into a necklace or keychain for my mom for Christmas. Dinner was delicious and thankfully, the staff was super accommodating with her diet requests. Then we were in bed at 8.30. Wild and crazy, huh?

I woke up at 6.30 and threw on a sweatshirt, brushed my teeth and went to get coffee- one floor down. So convenient. The best part, I was able to take my coffee onto their porch that overlooks the ocean and I watched the sunrise. Heaven!!!! While my mom was getting ready, I took my DSLR onto the beach to get some pics. We had b-fast right there, went back upstairs to finish packing. After we checked out we went back to sit on the beach before we drove home in the afternoon. It was a really good decision to stay there. Perfect to stay at one place and to be right there on the ocean. My mom wants to go back in the spring so my fingers are crossed that we can pull it off. I told her that she better stay healthy b/c who else could I drag down with me? ;)

I feel really bad, I was kind of hard on her. I get so frustrated sometimes when she does the same s*** over and over, letting stupid things from years ago make her bitter or having things scattered all over that makes it hard to be organized. For ex. she forgot to pack a few shirts because she has some things in one room, other things in a second room and some things on the sofa. Then she berates herself for being "stupid." But if I suggest that she try the meditation app to help retrain her brain, give her ideas on how to let the little things or things she has no control over go, she says I am right but then ignores me. :frusty:

I apologized a bunch of times and she admits that she knows that I am trying to help but then she says she is too old to change. :(
I don't want to see her be bitter and anxious for the rest of her life. And I guess that is on me, my issue. So I am going to try and bite my tongue. For a while at least heh.

Today, I am off to clean, then I have laundry and unpacking to do. It is going to be very rainy so if I have time, I am going to download my photos- scrap maybe???

I am running very late so if I can't catch up on personals, I am sorry!
Missed you all! xoxo

Monday:

Nancy- How did the first rehab session go? Hoping the Devils won- I am sure when I get to Tuesday's thread I will have the answers.

Jean- the spot was perfect, our room had an ocean side view and before I went for coffee I took a quick photo of the sunrise to show my mom who didn't want to get out of bed yet. Her smile made it so worthwhile!

Tuesday:

Trudy- Yikes!! Did the heat pump get fixed? Was it super expensive? I really hope not. You deserve a warm getaway this winter. (Don't we all??? :D)
How happy you must be to hear that your kids had a wonderful holiday weekend together!
Good to hear that your ILs are feeling better.

Jean- yes, the weather was very nice yesterday. That makes me so angry to hear that the "tree butchers" were there at your house. I hope that didn't chop too much away.
Congrats on smaller size clothes!

Kay- enjoy your Indian Summer!
Oh my :( That dream must have been really hard to wake up from and then to have the memories and feelings lasting afterward. Hugs!!

Nancy- should I lecture you on not pushing yourself? (Pot meet kettle! So, I won't) I hope that your body isn't too sore today. Wow! You are using just a cane already, that seems fast!
Ugh, the Devils are really having a rough start.
I am "glad" that it is rainy today- if the sun were out, I think I would have tried to see if we could stay another day at the shore LOL

Good Morning everyone! It is another rainy day today and I get to go to the Dentist this morning :mmph: I am getting another crown on one of my teeth and will be happy to have this last one done and over with! This appt is the long one and then the crown will be applied on the 31st (Happy Halloween!!) Yesterday I called the Heat Pump repair guy and they could not come to look at it until today between 2-2:30 so DH decided to take the day off of work and be here to discuss things with them. I am glad to not have to deal with it as I would probably forget half of what they tell me LOL. I decided to get to the pool seeing as I did not have to wait for the repair guys and it was really nice and quiet and not many people there at all so that was nice!

Chris - I am so happy that you had such a great time with your Mom at the shore! Sounds like the perfect tranquil get away that you needed! I hope that you get to do it again this spring! Sorry that you find it so frustrating that you Mom won't listen to your good advice, my MIL is the same, but at 83 I suppose she is not about to change her ways LOL. I am sure that my DD feels the same way about me sometimes too, I will try to be a better listener! Hope you get your cleaning and laundry done today, good thing it is a rainy day!

Jean - The city does the same thing with our cherry trees downtown and it looks like they are butchering them for sure. However after a year of looking so horrible, they are doing very well and look more beautiful than ever! Guess they must have known what they were doing after all LOL. I am hoping that the heat pump repair will not be too costly too, keep crossing your fingers for me!

Kay - Oh my that dream must have been very upsetting after waking from it! But like Nancy says it just shows you how very much in love you two were and still are! Nice that he came for a visit with you in your dreams though!

Nancy - That is fantastic that you are already using a cane to get around! You are rocking your rehab!! WTG! Yes our Bruins are doing very well so far, hope that your Devils pull their socks up and start winning for you soon! I am hoping to get a page done very soon of a few pics that the kids sent from their weekend together! Take care of you and don't push yourself too hard!

Alright I need to hit the shower and get to the Dentist Uggh!! Have a great day everyone!

good morning - had my rehab session and he is proud of my progression so that is good. Otherwise not much going on. Luther seems to be enjoying his daycare so that is good. The boys are being very helpful. I am sleeping better. I have found a new author only because she said her books are banned because they look at subject matter that schools feel is inappropriate like abortions, gun violence etc. Well I started with a sample of the book Spark of Light by Jodi Picoult. It is amazing how it reads. Now I will have to read more of her books.

Chris I am so glad you had such a good time with your mom. It was a nice day! I am hoping this storm is not as bad as they are saying! Just some rain would be nice but no flooding or high winds.

Trudy hoping you have a great hike today!

Jean have you been watching baseball - shocked the Nationals swept. But good to see a new team in the World Series.

Waving to Kay and Felis and all!
Have a great day!

Yesterday was so beautiful, a perfect September day (on Oct. 15th) with sunshine, bright blue sky and nice temps. I'll keep remembering that today with rain and 50s all day. I did find a new plaid flannel shirt that is beautiful. Got one last year in different colors that I still love and will keep wearing even though it is too big. New one is a little small, but figure that I can wear it now and by Feb. it should be perfect. (But do realize these are still large sizes!) Didn't find anything else but had a lovely day out. And the trees really took a beating, but it doesn't look like any are goners this time. The paper today had an article about taking a break from all the heavy stories to think about the 20 newly discovered moons of Saturn. DH keeps up on things like that, so we were already aware, but it was lovely thing to have in the paper while everything else is so horrible.

Chris, thanks for the description of your getaway. It sounds so wonderful and uplifting. I too will be hoping you get to repeat in the spring. Wonder what your mom's reaction would be if you'd respond, that, yup, she's so stupid. OTOH, maybe you do need to chill. Ain't family fun!

Trudy, sorry today is the dentist, but getting a new crown will be a good thing. I'm waiting for my implant to finish healing so I can get one too, maybe by Dec. Good luck to your MG and the heat pump repair but how nice he'll be there to deal with it. I too would much rather DH do those things.

Nancy, how great that you're already at the cane when others home stage! Now if the Devils would just help out. I've read that the Yankees/Astros game tonight may be postponed to tomorrow because of heavy rain coming. Hope you don't get any nasty weather.

Kay, what a bittersweet awakening from that dream. Don't know whether you'd be better without it or the opposite. Hope you've recovered from that and are feeling healthy again.

Felis, hope you're doing things with your mom and enjoying time together.

Nancy, we too cross posted! Great news on your rehab. And yes, the Nationals sweep of St. Louis is quite a shock. Saw that first inning last night and thought it was all over, and it was.

It has been a very busy day. Had to move some small pieces of furniture out of the way so there was a clear path to the front door to move the recliners out. I remember it was a challenge getting them in when they were new. Even moved some of my breakable things away from the area in case the furniture they were on got bumped. The guys arrived just after noon... and it took all the cleared space to get the recliners from the family room to the front door. So glad I moved everything I did. Then I spent about 3 hours cleaning/mopping/vacuuming not only the family room but living room, kitchen and the carpet through out the house. I was smart and took breaks so I didn't get too tired. I ended up moving a chair and end table in front of the windows where the recliner were instead of the chord organ. The chair and table fit much better in that area. Now I can have the chair for the chord organ sitting next to it and just shift it around when I want to play the organ - instead of having to bring one in from the kitchen. I love how the the room looks so much larger now!!! I have been resting a bit... and now the back and knees are talking to me - so need to take some pain meds.

Yes, the dream about my hubby was bittersweet... it was wonderful to dream about him, hear his voice and feel him holding me... but it was so hard to wake and realize it was a dream. Brought back a lot of sadness again. I try to keep my mind busy but can't tackle anything too complicated. It is funny that scrapping seems okay but learning new techniques in it is too difficult right now.

Nancy, so glad you are doing okay with your PT and getting around with a cane when someone is there with you. Way to go, gal!!

Trudy... I hated getting crowns - hope all goes well with yours. Glad your DH was going to be there when the heat-pump techs come.

Jean, isn't it the pits when the size L is different from one manufacturer to another. I kept a couple of DH's flannel shirts to wear when I am cold. They also feel so soft and cozy. I know you will enjoy the ones you got.

Chris, sounds like a wonderful mini-vacation for you and your mom. Glad it all worked out so well.

Gonna get my pain meds and heat up an frozen dinner as I am too tired to cook. CYl
