Hello there everyone! Welcome to the Art Journaling Challenge for October!
I'm your Happy Host, Rhonda, here with another fun challenge!
Hope you will join me for a fun Halloween themed Challenge.
Art Journaling can have multiple meanings and interpretations, substituting pictures for words so it is a more visual page than using text journaling. Text can be used of course, perhaps you like to use multiple WA' s instead of traditional journaling, or combining the two together, it’s your choice. You may choose to tell an emotional or personal story or go for a more artistic style page instead. I think Art journaling is all about the visual impact, whatever kind of story you are trying to showcase.
I can't believe how quickly October has arrived and with Halloween just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to have a Halloween theme for this Art Journaling Challenge. I personally love everything about Halloween.
Challenge Option 2: But having said that, I know that not everyone either celebrates or likes Halloween so as an option, sticking to a similar theme, you might like to scrap about a scary story you know of or heard when you were a kid; or a scary/spooky experience (if it is not too traumatic to share that is!!); or even a short 'make believe' scary story that you can write and illustrate, or use lyrics from a song. So while not strictly Halloween, your layout still needs to be on a spooky/scary/witchy/ghostly/spectral type of theme and you still need to include the items listed below.
So let's see how this challenge should shape up:
I always think of pumpkins when I think of Halloween so there needs to be [at least] 1 pumpkin on your layout page.
Also, since #13 is my lucky number I have chosen 13 Halloween themed items that I will list below, you need to choose THREE (3) of these items to include in your layout.
You need to tell me which 3 items you have chosen when you upload your layout to this thread.
Your layout can contain a photo or it can be photo-less.
- Black Cat
- Bat
- Skeleton or skull
- Ghost(s) or Spector
- Grim Reaper
- Grave Stones, Markers or Headstones
- Vampire
- Coffin
- Werewolf
- Haunted House
- Witch or Warlock
- Cauldron
- The Number 13
This challenge has a special significance for me...The first layout I ever created here as a Cheery-O was a Halloween layout In October of 2021...Thus...the reason I wanted to host a Halloween Themed Challenge in October 2022..This challenge marks my 1 year anniversary as a Cheery-O!!!...Yeah!!!...Can't believe a whole year has gone by already!!!......
That being said...I had such fun creating my Art Journaling Halloween layout...I had the right photo to match the colors of the Haunted Halloween Collection & Gift By NLD Designs...that I chose for my layout...Such fun! & bright! Halloween pieces in more non-traditional Halloween colors...And red is my favorite color!!!...
As you can see I have filled up my page with those wonderful! pieces from NLD's beautiful collection!!!...I also used several WA pieces...I'm a fill-up her page kinda gal...By no means do you have to do so...As per the rules...You can see the pumpkins in my layout...& for my 3 items...I chose...

Although optional,I used an extracted Halloween photo to complete my layout...The only things that didn't come from NLD's Collection...are the green hand & the photo I used...

RULES
- Create an art journaling styled layout with a Halloween or Spectral type theme (as per Challenge Option 2 above).
- Your layout needs to have at least one (1) pumpkin on it
- Your layout needs to have a minimum of THREE (3) items from the list ABOVE
- Please tell me which three items you chose in this thread when you post your layout.
- Please use 80% Oscraps products that are currently in the store.
- Non-Oscraps products or retired O designer products can be used whether the designer is selling elsewhere or not.
- You need to credit all the products used on your layout.
- Your layout can not be used for more than one challenge.
- Your page must be posted in the Challenge 5 gallery by midnight PST October 31 2022 and linked back to this thread (see below on how to add your linked layout).
- And do not forget to update the CURRENT MONTH'S TRACKING THREAD to be eligible for your coupon.
Adding a linked layout from the Gallery to a thread:
1. Upload your layout to the gallery first. In your forum post click the Gallery Embed icon (little camera).
2. This will open your gallery, simply click on the layout you require, then scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click the Continue button.
3. Your linked layout is now in your post, the image will appear once you have clicked the Post Reply button.
