What's everyone doing for Thanksgiving? (In the US, at least..)

I thought I'd skirt by having to cook a Thanksgiving meal this year on account of my sister moving further away and choosing to come up for Christmas, instead. But somehow my parents didn't subscribe to the same philosophy. Haha.

So I'll be whipping up food all day tomorrow - maybe even tonight. Having an early meal (noon-ish?) so I can be in my stretchy pants on the couch before the sun even goes down. I'm awesome like that. :hat:

We celebrates in Oct. up in the Great White (wet) North. DH did the turkey. I'll be thinking of you all tomorrow and wanting a piece of pumpkin pie!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. But you're right the best part is the lounging around in PJ's or stretchy pants after the big meal!

i am NOT COOKING!!!!!! except for two pumpkin pies (and some almond flour pumpkin bread for my dessert tomorrow), i won't have to do anything but drive to my SIL's house tomorrow. methinks i'll sleep until noon, take a shower, dress and show up at The Feast. WOOHOOO!! it's amazing. i'm not used to this sort of thing!! our meal is early, too, so i'll be donning the stretchy pants around 7 p.m. tonmorrow night, i think. :amen:

Going to my Mom's....usually I cook for all of us...about 14...but too much stress this year, just can't manage it...so we are all cooking two dishes and taking it to my Mom's...we eat around 3ish.....

Home by 7 or so and into my sweats and tshirt....::grouphug

We're heading over to Eric's parents at around noon tomorrow for lunch. I was hoping to get to a bootcamp tomorrow morning but it's been cancelled so I'll be making gluten free dairy free pies for my tribe instead Eric has to work tomorrow night so we'll make a quick getaway after lunch and I plan to spend the rest of the evening with at my girlfriend's place who's also on her own this holiday.

It's at my house this year, but we cleaned last week for Ben's birthday, so I'm not stressed. I am popping the turkey in the oven tomorrow morning. I made two Marie Callendar's frozen pumpkin pies today and some super simple cranberry sauce. mmmmmm

does anyone have those fancy pajama jeans to wear tomorrow? In the morning that infomercial is on and it cracks me up - I want to find someone who has those. I want to know if those really make you as happy as those ladies wearing them are....

I originally offered to do this holiday but my brothers are both going to their in-laws in other states and my parents are going with one of them. My kids are going with their Dad so I will be home with my husband and my stepson. My wonderful, most fabulous husband is making the entire dinner because he said he wants to and he just wants me to relax. How did I get so lucky?

We're doing it at our (super small) house this year since Jay's mom had a complete shoulder replacement about a month ago. I think I'll start the day in my stretchy pants LOL. The plan is to eat really good tomorrow so when I do my official weight watchers start (online) weigh in Friday morning my weight will be nice and exaggerated and hopefully show a big loss the following week.

pajama jeans LOL. I get them for my four year old and she loves them! In fact just tonight she begged me to let her sleep in clothes since they are soooo comfortable - and yeah, she's wearing pajama jeans today.

I think you can buy knock-offs of the pajama jeans at Target - I swear I saw some in their PJ department. I don't think I could do the pajama jeans - the whole point is that you can leave the house in them and no one is the wiser, right? I'm way too neurotic to leave the house in pajamas. I drive N to school most mornings in my pajamas and have a slight panic attack almost every. single. day. that if my jeep were to break down or someone were to rear-end me in the drop-off lane I would die a thousand deaths if I got out of the car in my PJs.

Although, it obviously doesn't mortify me enough to compel me to wake up 10 minutes earlier so that I can put actual clothes on. Haha.

Maybe someone will give me the gift of therapy for Christmas this year.

Waking up 10 minutes earlier to put clean clothes on a non-showered body is counter-productive (that's what I tell myself). I go in my PJs everyday to drive Chris and Matt to school and I cant put clean clothes on before I shower because I have to do everything in order.

Maybe it's me who needs the therapy???

We are celebrating on Saturday, because I love Thanksgiving, but here in Germany, we don't have a holiday. I've invited two German (or rather both are half-german) families to celebrate with us. We are going to squish 12 of us into our teeny apartment and hope that the 5kg turkey my husband ordered at the butcher's yesterday fits in my oven!!! I am cooking it ALL, but I love it!

hahah!! You ladies are too funny! pajama jeans- don't make sense to me.... either I am in pj's or jeans.... or my work clothes (leggings and t shirts that are ratty for cleaning). I feel your pain P. Several times I have had to either pick cait up from school or drop off pain meds for her while I have been at work. I was joking with the school nurse that they must think I am the biggest slob. I finally ended up having her Lyme dr fax over an Rx so i can leave a bottle of pain meds for her at eh school and not have to rush over while I am in the middle of scrubbing toilets.

Oh-- Thanksgiving... yeah, I don't do thanksgiving, I could never cook a turkey. I have a hard enough time being grossed out by an oven stuffer chicken.

We usually alternate between my mom's and my MIL's and whoever of the siblings that are available. This year my mom is having MIL/FIL, us and my brother and my SIL and MY BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy I can be with my godson for his first thanksgiving.

Last year was one of the most horrible t-givings. The week before, my brother and SIL had flown out to CA to adopt a little baby girl and at the last possible moment, the birth mother changed her mind and they had to give the baby back. It was also the one year anniversary of SIL's mom's passing. It truly did not feel like there was much to be thankful for at that time. But look at what a difference year makes. We still mourn the loss of the little baby girl who was part of our family for a short week..but we are all so happy and thankful for Christopher.
