Ok...vacations are tops on my mind right now. ;-). Tell me...what is your dream vacation? Either one that you have taken or one that you want to take someday?

One that we take a time or two (or 3?) a year: Golfing in Arizona. Nothing like it. LOVE

Wish I could do a photo safari in Africa. Had a chance to go there once, and didn't take advantage (one child still in college, so money seemed tight...should have figured it out).

My dream holiday would be anywhere without the kids!!! :hurt:

Well, for a couple of days, anyway. I have now had a couple of single nights off with no kids but they've been with no husband either (as he's ben looking after the kids), so I'd happily stay home with him.

The best family holidays we've had have been to Australia. Having done years of 5star luxury Asian style, we wanted some reality, and Australia had it in spades. Shame I didn't know Helen & Ona then. My sister asked me if we stood out like sore thumbs in Oz, but the glorious thing was that we blended into the background. Being Westerners living in Asia we certainly stood out (especially as my kids are blond & DH is 6'2") so the bit of anominity Australia offered us was wonderful.

Future dreams.......I really regret not getting to New Zealand whilst we were living half way there already. I'd like to see the wilds of Canada and I'd like to see the west coast of Scotland, which, despite being my home country and a mere 500 miles away, I've never been to.

Anywhere haha! I want to stay a few nights at the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite during winter... even though it's nearby, that place is amazing. Every year we say we'll book it, but work is always too insane for DH.

I also want to go to the UK and visit family & our ancestral sites... we'll probably have to take a month or two off for that trip! & New Zealand of course!!! I almost went to a university there but uhh, too expensive.

Honestly right now any vacation out of town would be awesome...

Don't get me started on vacations, I might never shut up! :blah:

My favorite place on earth is Disney World. ( I know, you are all shocked!!! LOL) I fI could go there every year, I would. If I could stay at the Polynesian Resort again (Gary and I stayed there in 1994) I would do that in a heartbeat!

Relaxing/romantic- would love to go back to Sandals, and would try out the resort in the Bahamas.

If I won a gazillion dollars, I would love a trip around the world and the Must See stops would be Scotland, Italy and Australia.

Well ... dream is the main word here. First, I don't like traveling and second, I cannot afford it LOL

But ... in my dreams: I take a road trip throughout USA. See the "real America", not just the fancy big cities. Small towns. Go to malls. Diners. You know, just everyday life.

One of my favorite things when we were in the UK was to go to Sainsbury's. Look at food. Things we don't have here. I know I'm weird. I love everyday life :)

What a great question !
I have travel a lot younger, when I was single and without child !
I wish I could go to Canada, then go to Polynesia islands, clibbing to the Macchu Picchu once again in Maldives, and in greek islands.

So fun to read this...

Eva, I love your dream...if you do it, you are welcome to come stay with me and I will show you every day life in northern California...I love everyday life too.

Chris, we are kindred Disney spirits! There are some people who don't like Disney...the happiest place on earth...Chris and I don't get how someone would not want to go to the happiest place on earth ;-)

Oh Clara...let's meet in Italy...my spiritual home...as long as my hubby and daughter were with me, I too would not come back. And what do I love most about it...everyday life!! I remember a day in Anacapri where we successfully bought bread, cheese and strawberries from 3 different little local shops (our italian is not that great), then sat on a bench in the square and had lunch...pure bliss!!

Meg, it's funny hub and I were just talking about the Ahwanhee the other day! He is trying to talk me into a multi-day backcountry hike and I wasn't going for it (this aging body needs a real bed) so he said, OK, how about a few days at the Ahwanhee :)

Golf vacation...OK...Australia...yes please...New Zealand...Oh yes, want to go to Hobbiton!

OK, 'nuf said, back to reality :)

Australia has been on my list since I was 2. France has been on my list since high school with 3 trips failing in the planning stages.

Ireland. Oh so beautiful. Italy! Netherlands. Spain. Hawaii. California. Quebec. England! JUST EVERYWHERE!

The dream place I HAVE been to was Alaska & I'd to that again. :D

I love reading this. I am on a dream vacation right now...about to end it however. And I will tell you that I can't end one dream vacation without having an idea for the next one.

For those who have somehow missed my carrying on about it...I am in Maui right now. It has been delightful. We did it last year, staying at the same place and we were busy every single day...packing in everything because I didn't plan on being back. This year, it is a bit more relaxing...and I think that was much needed!

Let's see...some of my other dream vacations...returning to Paris...and then spending some time traveling through France...and maybe even making it into a couple of other countries just to say that I did.

I would love to spend a month in Europe...taking my time. I have been to the UK twice (Norwich once and London once), but both times for work so not enough time spent seeing things. Went to Amsterdam for a week...but same thing...was in classes all day for work. Really want to get back there...especially during tulip time.
And I would love to see Italy.

Of course, I want to return to China with the kids now that they are older. Want to walk the Great Wall again.

Here is my true confession...have been lots of places in the US but never to DC. Heading there this summer. Definitely on my bucket list.

Well, now you see why I started this thread right?

My dream? I would like to see New York and the Caribbean. My cousin's have a place in Caribbean, they will build a house there. So when we'll visit them, I hope we can spend some nice day in NY too. I hope they will stop with shipping and starting the house because I would like to go there now :)

Well, I would love to spend time on Captiva Island to look at/for shells! I would also love to do a Hawaii vacation and my husband would like to do the Bahamas! Do you see a beach theme here???? I am not a great air traveler, so across the pond would have to be an ocean liner- not sure that would happen

Wherever it's warm would be good. It's snowing again here. *sigh* I am ready for spring...but I do love having all four seasons.

I would love to go to Hawaii. I would love to go to the Caribbean and swim with sea turtles and what not. I want to go to Europe. See the Globe, go to the Eiffel Tower, head over to Ireland and see the ancestor's home. Italy would be amazing too. I would love to go on Safari and see the animals.

I don't know. I can't choose just one. And I really, really want to travel.

I have been very lucky and done a lot of traveling both when I was younger and over the past couple of years. There's still lots on the bucket list though!
DH and I have talked of doing a house exchange in Italy for a month, also a trip to Peru to Machu Picchu and all the other wonderful sights down there. I'd love to do a safari in Africa some day too.

This year my mom turns 80 and she wanted to take another cruise before she got too old, so I am going with her on a 26 day cruise that starts in Dubai and ends in Venice. I can't wait!!! The only place I'm a bit nervous about visiting right now is Egypt with all the problems they are having there.
