I have to share this! Have to! Even though I am running really late this morning- but I have to capture this moment. My Mom's Heart is bursting with pride!!!!

Scott and I are in the car waiting for the bus, talking about his College Application Essay. He is starting to do the rough draft and said that his teacher made the point to him that even if he might not write is technically perfect, what he is saying will make him as asset on any college campus.
Scott told me and her that he is finding that now that he is taking a lot of course he enjoys, he has a "passion for learning" and wants to learn as much as he can. His favorite course is Psychology, he loves learning about the brain and how is really is like a machine.

Some of you know this but if you don't, Scott has had a rough education experience, partly due to his illness and partly due to a very unique, out of the box and stubborn :)frusty:) learning style. He has hated school for years and has always had a hard time translating why it is important to learn things that are not relevant to him into his own reality. (does that makes sense?)

This to me as a mom makes me proud. And a teacher and a psychology major who also LOVES learning how the brain works-- its thrilling!!!!

OMG- this made me soooo happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It sometimes takes time to understand why you have to learn all these things that you don't seem to need...
Hoorah for Scott and for his patient mom!

Thank you all sooooo much for sharing in my happiness!!!!! It really has been a long road and I am sure that there will be more bumps in it. But what a difference from when we had to pull him out of school and he would just put his head on the table and say No to his home instructor, to this. I feel like his brain is growing and expanding like the Grinch's heart did, yannow?
He posted this really deep observation about life on FB and it was amazing!

I am beyond happy and excited for him and I know he is just going to keep going forward. I have told him since he was born that he has the ability, both intellectual and in his heart, to do amazing things. I love seeing that start to come into fruition.

Thank you al again. So many of you have been there for me when things were bad for him and I can't tell you how much it means to me that you are here for me to share in the good! (Faery is feeling sappy, I think! Must have been the Blue Bottles from Ona)
