well it is supposedly the day we were first discovered ... by the Brits! It's a very long and involved story and not to mention the Aborigines who were here for 40,000 years!

Not an easy topic for discussion.

People think the date should change for the time we first had our constituion in 1901.

OH well .. we are Aussies .. any excuse to celebrate and have a day off Clara!
 
bwhahhahaha!!! yep, that's right Helen!!! its been a stinking hot day in my little part of Oz today so we haven't been doing much at all! going to sit out on the verandah a bit later when it is cooler and have some bikkies and dip and nice cold one!!! :biggrin: in between brushing the mozzies away that is!!!!

Yep...sounds like Columbus day!! But like you said...gotta love a day off and a reason to BBQ or eat something yummy. Yay for our Aussie friends!!
