Grammar etc in comments

Hi all,

Just curious how many are offended by poor (or illiterate ;) ) grammar in the comments section of gallery or in forums for that matter.

I usually post from my IPad and your lucky if you get caps let alone grammar rules - many of my posts, I realise, are just one long sentence - and I hope you pause between words :eyebrows:

So if you expect my words to not have prepositions at end of sentences etc, apologies just scroll past my name :) and accept my apologies.

My aim is to comment on as many layouts as I can -
To me it's one of the most important things in being part of the "O" family.

And a big "hurrah" for Anna's CT and the new members for their wonderful comments in the galleries!

They've been here less than a month and check out their numbers of posts.

ok, enough babbling for today - back to the gallery!

always chatty at the O!!
I also can have bad grammar...that's because of laziness though. I've gotten use to auto correct and don't fix things on the computer. Lol.

You are doing awesome. I love getting comments from you grammatically correct or nor.

I don't give two toots for correct grammar. I, too, often post from my ipad which is frankly RUBBISH from a correcting point of view - the auto spell drove me so crazy that I took it off.

Getting and giving genuine comments is far nicer and more important than spellings & grammar to me. :drum:

I am with you all. Everyone knows that I am the worst typists EVER so sometimes its a bit of a puzzle to figure out what I am saying... but its all good!

lOve the O!
I sometimes post from my tablet and it is a pain to switch to caps when I need to. The other thing with grammar is if you are using a translator to get the English version, that can throw everything off as well!

haha! Jacqueline! i'm the girl who never uses capital letters (or rarely.) and i'm too old to care whether anyone likes it or not. my typing is beyon d abysmal. and on my iPad, it's even worse. grammar-wise, there are only two things that drive me bats: when people write "THEN" instead of "THAN." and when people say " a MYRIAD OF...." myriad means MANY. it isn't a noun. that being said, love is love, and i would never care about someone's grammar if they were kind enough to take the time to comment on my pages.

re: the AnnaTeam and our comments. Some of us came to The O from a site where commenting is extensive.(despite some of its other faults....) we love to love and ( are we insecure?) we love BEING loved. all you have to do is examine how nice it makes you feel when someone compliments a page you've put your heart into to begin to understand that, when you compliment someone else's page, they get that very same feeling. it's even possible that, with a kind word that takes you a second to write, you may just rescue someone's day!

and now I should stop talking! ;-D

I love giving comments as much as I love receiving them, and I don't give a toss about the grammar or spelling.

Queen of typos here. My brain goes faster than my fingers can type :D

One among many, Anna! It's one of my major issues with the German Language, it takes so dang long to say anything, I'm already four sentences ahead of what I'm saying and my husband is staring at me like I am a crazy person, and WHAT am I trying to say anyway?!

Living, sleeping, speaking, reading, writing in a foreign language 24/7, where I know my grammar and accent are far from perfect, I cannot fault anyone else for their grammar of any sort! I am simply ecstatic to hear from any person who has taken the time to look at something I do, and respond. I try and do the same, due to time restrictions, i often have to limit my posts to one or two words.

It is indeed, the thought that counts and I thank each and every one of you, who stops and says, "Hello! How wonderful!"

it's nice when someone stops by and leaves a comment ... don't care about the grammar. leaving comments is a good way to make someone happy and a good way to encourage others to participate. hope you are all having a great day!

I was certainly taught writing skills that are far beyond what I write here. While no iPad user, texting has made me far worse than I should be. As Phylis said, those of us who are new transplants, love to comment and be commented upon. Me? I just love to talk! (I am married two introverted men - on different occasions! - who cannot think out loud and have to 'process' most any statement I make. Y'all are my salvation!)

Unless it says, "Sara, you're a big fat, fatty and really untalented", I probably won't be offended.

Too stinking funny!

As for me . . . I love giving comments just as much as I love getting comments! And though I try to be grammatically correct (I am borderline CDO) . . . YOUR grammar don't matter much to me! Truly!

Grammar, smammer. Don't care about grammar, everybody knows autocorrect can't spell! Just don't be guilty of PLEONASM...learned that cool word today. It's the Word for the Day at Dictionary.com. It means using more words than are necessary to express an idea, like when someone says, "I saw it with my own eyes." Well who else's eyes would you have seen it with? The example I like the best (straight from Dictionary.com) is "at this moment in time" which really just means "now." And I believe I've been guilty of pleonasm in this whole post!

The pleonasm that makes me cringe: "I thought to myself." Who else could you be thinking to? My respect for Ernest Hemingway slid a notch or two as I noticed his continual use of the phrase. (Thanks for the word...new to me.)

J- you sure do!!!!!!!

C- I think we all got used to that trick when we had to write a 2 page essay and were running out of real things to say. What better way to fill 2 pages than to use pleonasms hahaha!!

Eh! I try to use correct grammar most of the time when commenting and sometimes go back to edit my comments when I have typos & I catch them, but I really am not so picky with how anyone else types. It's the leaving love that counts!

Speaking of which! I really need to leave you all some lovin'!!!

mine does the same lately ( I thought it was old age creeping up) and you do get some odd words.

who cares, it's more important to give a well meant comment than to have correct spelling and this being an international community it amazes me how well we communicate .
