@Jam-on-toast started a great thread last week, How do you fit exercise into your daily routine? . Thanks to that, I know I am not the only one who is attempting to either exercise or move more or take on some other healthy habits. I know that I need to be help accountable. If anyone else needs an extra push or boost, please join me!

Here is a LO I did to get me motivated- hope it helps you too ♥

Good for you, Chris - I know you started your Yoga! You can do this - just carve out a few minutes to start with and add to that time as you get stronger. I love Yoga, but also love any core strength work. Great MM layout!

Maybe we could turn this into a "daily check-in" for those of us who are trying to exercise/work out in any way?

That is a fantastic idea, we can cheer each other on and boost us when we miss a goal ♥

wow... great layout, Chris! I've been slowly modifying my daily habits to be more active... I got an Apple Watch for Christmas and this little thingy keeps track of everything I do... event he way I breathe, lol. I started with just 15 min active excercise (the green exercise ring) and 150 active calories (the red move ring) and have by now upped it to 40 min exercise and 400 active calories... by walking faster while out with the dog, running (instead of walking) up and down the stairs and pacing the room while talking on the phone. I'd run up the stairs a couple of times while waiting for the microwave... put the music on and dance in the kitchen while loading and unloading the dishwasher - this one really makes chores fun... a quick stretching routine while drying off after the shower... well, you get the point...

This is great, Olga!!! We can do things in our daily lives to increase movement and I used to run up and down our stairs, too. We don't have any stairs now, but I walk on my treadmill every day and walk as much as I can - if I go in a store, I walk up and down every aisle. I love my Apple watch, too! My old one just died, so I got a new one. Just wearing it reminds me to move, too. It's so rewarding to look at all of my progress and when I win an award, I still get excited!

@Jam-on-toast That is fantastic!!! When I am not in a lazy, post-holiday winter funk, like I am now, I try to do that sort of stuff. When it's not freezing I park as far away from any stores as possible, make as many trips up and down the stairs as I can. It's not enough to make a difference physically, but it helps reset my brain into thinking more towards activity than stagnating :D

Mark me down for two days in a row for Yoga.
Today I am leaving the house early, so I am going to do just a few poses using Wii Fit. (see, now that I said it "out loud" I have to do it!)

I'm here. Going to do 15 minutes each day on the treadmill. I got an Apple watch for Christmas and I love it but I sure haven't been using it to track my exercise! I've been quite annoyed by those little rings telling me to do more. HOWEVER, I'm changing my attitude on that today!!! Going to take advantage of those pretty little rings in my life. (Yesterday was Day 1.)

Mark me down for completing my "circuit training" for yesterday, January 17th. I'll be back to document my workout today later on.

You go, Girl!! Use that Apple watch - when it tells you to stand, you stand - breathing also. They all add up to your "goals" even though you aren't tracking them yet, wait until you get an award!!! You can screenshot it on your phone and post it here!!!

Congrats on the yoga, Chris.

My goal this year is to continue to walk at least 3-5 hrs/wk, while sticking to a low carb lifestyle. I have stayed away from sugar and starches this week. I even resisted getting fries when hubs went thru the fast food drive through.

Resisting fries at a drive-through is rough - way to go, Rae!

I am so excited to have company here. ♥♥♥♥♥

I got in 15-min yoga set yesterday morning and I was really proud of myself. I would never have done it when I got home. I was full and tired. My parents took me out to lunch and while I only ate half of the panini, it was huge.

Rae, can you eat potatoes at all? (just googles and it says you can but limited?)
I made baked french fries yesterday and they are really good. I peeled and sliced 4 potatoes, soaked them in water for 30 minutes Rinsed and dried them then drizzled them with a couple of tbsp olive oil. Baked them for 40 minutes at 430*F
I bet you get a lot of exercise walking and playing with the dogs, that's awesome.

@faerywings Nope, no fries. Once I get to optimum weight again (about 8 lbs to go) then I will eat a few more carbs while still staying within the low carb ratio but will carb cycle a few times a month and at that point I will eat a small portion of potatoes, beans or starchier veggies like corn. For me, the danger is that the more carbs I eat the more I crave so I am always feeling hungry, wanting to eat, especially at night. Keto tamps that feeling down and I can eat a few meals a day and a snack and I'm good, don't feel the need to eat more.

Did you do your yoga yet today?

I got my 10 minutes of walking on the treadmill yesterday. But my exercise ring on the Apple watch didn't count it. Are you kidding me? I've looked at a few things to try so I'll do that before I do my walk today!

Have you seen, we have cheer smilies!
#cheer-2#cheer-3#cheer1
Let's use them lots :D

I have done yoga six days in a row!! The series that I am streaming on Amazon -- I could have sworn I had filtered for time and for beginners. There is no way that it is for beginners, Not only are there lots of planks, yesterday I did Dancer's Pose and Running Downward Dog. I didn't do them very well, but I tried.
There is one day left in this series then you move on to 2.0, then 3.0
I am going to finish the series today and then I either have to find new routines, stick to Wii Fit, or repeat 1.0 until I am better.
Any suggestions?

How are you doing with your goals?

That's weird, Linda!!
Are you sure you paired it with your phone??? You have to put it on the wrist you wear it on and hold it next to your phone. You have an app on your phone that has a watch on it and your watch info should be showing on there. It looks like this: Your move info SHOULD be showing on your phone, too.

It sounds like what you're watching is pretty advanced. If you haven't done Yoga for a long time, it should be concentrating on lots of stretching and gentle movements. You mentioned that there were planks involved? That's not beginning. I have a suggestion - I've been doing Callanetics for years - since the mid 80's, in fact. The original Callanetics - is still on YouTube - Callan Pinkney invented it and it's a mix of ballet and gentle yoga. It's still highly practiced and they have actually shortened it up - it used to take an hour. Here's a link to her original workout. It's core strengthing above all else. You might also like to mix in Tai Chi.

See if you can go to this link and try to find her whole program. This is an old video and it's just an example of what it's all about. Again, I've been doing parts of her workout since the 80's. I don't believe there are any core-strengthing programs like hers. Again, her name is Callan Pinkney and she has sadly passed away, but her left many students and devotees behind.

Really????? Can you still play them? I don't have any way to watch mine. They still sell her OG vids on Amazon. They're still all on You Tube. I have them embedded in my brain and still do some of them. I don't do the full workout anymore, but I think her workout if the best ever.

Here'are some Callanetics exercises I do every day. They've shortened up the OG workouts and this one is amazing for your core.

I am definitely doing an advanced yoga program-- yesterday was "Recovery" so I thought, finally - an easier routine. More planks and also Pigeon Pose. I had never done that one before and I def. felt the stretch. One good thing is that I already noticed that I could do full planks (no knees down) longer than I did in the beginning.

I remember Callanetics or at least people talking about it. I added the videos to my YouTube list. I found two old yoga DVDs that I will start with. The darn TV in my BRi s very old and half of the buttons don't work and the remotes are all weird. I am not sure if I can get YouTube on it. I am using a Firestick so maybe? I will check it out today
Thank you for the suggestion!
