Hi ladies! I'm part of this Texas snow & cold mess. Hell has indeed frozen over. I'm fine, just stuck in the woods with no connectivity. (that's the true hell - no connectivity when you're quarantined or snowed in or both!) I'm currently sitting in my car as the doors have finally unfrozen shut, getting the least bit of connectivity to be able to post this. I can't wait to be able to be back online and able to dive back down this rabbit hole with y'all! (((hugs))) and I hope you are all safe & warm!

@Patty Anne so sorry for all y'all are going through, I do hope you get solid connections back again soon. Stay safe and warm as possible. ♥

@Betty Jo, you ROCK!!! Thank you so much for putting all of this together. I have been debating sharing this site with my hubby. I *know* he would love messing around with it. But OTOH, I am terrified he might love it too much and I will never see him again. :p

:) Chris, that is a real possibility. He might get totally lost in DDG; many do! :D

Yes, it's a lot of fun to see what your painting/photo turns into. I should have put a warning in my post! DDG is sooooo addictive!! That's why I use the free one. If I used a paid account, and could process more each day, I might never get anything else done. :)
@vickyday So much for my words, huh? I'm now a paid subscriber and totally addicted!! :)

This is a Deep Dream one that is so freaking cool (not that I did anything special- just Generated it LOL) but I love all of the animal faces, it is like playing Where's Waldo!
Yeah, this one is too creepy for me, LOL!

I've been trying something at DDG with the styles.....I used a photo with each o the styles to see what the different styles do to the same photo. It will take quite awhile but I hope it helps me down the road. I have not changed any of the settings on any of them, however. That will probably be another learning experience! My energy doesn't regenerate fast enough, LOL!

FYI - I have not been changing any of the settings on the styles I choose. However, today I wanted to see what difference it would make using the same style but changing the settings. Here are my first 2 examples:

Original Pixabay Photo:
cuba-1638594-pixabay-web.jpg

Styled with no settings changed:
my15-web.jpg very mosaic-looking.

Styled with following settings changed:
Weight - 10%
Style - 40%
my15-settings-changed-to-10-and-40-web.jpg less mosaic-looking but still textured somewhat.

Styled with following settings changed:
Enhancement - Med
Iterations Boost - x1.0
Style Weight - 10%
Style Scale - 40%
my15-enMed-itboost-x1-wt-10-sc-40-web.jpg I don't really see a whole lot of difference between this one and the one above it.

Styled with following setting changes:
Enhancement - Extra High
Iterations Boost - x1.0
Style Weight - 10%
Style Scale - 40%
my15-enXhi-itboost-x1-wt-10-sc-40-web.jpg It seems to me that the thing that makes the most difference is changing the style weight and scale.

I will update this post with further changes to the settings. I do not know how to obtain the original "style" photo. Maybe if Betty Jo does she can edit my post to include it.......................I could only attach 5 photos to this post. You can also change from DDV2 to DDV1, which I did, plus changing the weight to 10% and the scale to 40%. The difference it seemed to make was less texture than all of the processed versions.

Hope this helps! Have fun experimenting!

@vickyday It's interesting to see the various results. Thanks for sharing. I checked and the style you used has DDG's mark on it, so I wouldn't download it. Some of them have the creators names on them too, and shouldn't be used off the DDG site, or at least I wouldn't post them anywhere else. You can give a link to your first trial photo, here in this thread, and then if anyone is interested in that particular style they can save it to their own styles at DDG.

There are several people at DDG that post nothing but their trials with different styles. I don't normally follow them, but if I run across any of those I will post a link here to their gallery for further style reviews.

Do you mean that I should delete these pictures and post only the links so people can check out the differences over at DDG only, Betty Jo?

@vickyday No, no, I meant to link your first photo using the style, the very mosaic-looking one, if it's public in your DDG gallery. That way, others can follow the link to get the style, since we shouldn't post the actual style here. I just edited your post and linked it for you. ♥

I am trying and trying, it is like a drug.
@Betty Jo, I have one question. In the settings info a read
  • Tip: When uploading a custom style image, make sure it is high-resolution. This will give better results.
I have no idea how I can make sure that the style is high-resolution. Do you know more?

@nobles I know what you mean! :) This is referring to making your own styles and uploading to use. When I make my own styles, I make them 1920x1920 pixels and save at 72 DPI. I was told by a long-time DDG user that this size works well, and it has for me.

Thank you @Betty Jo. Ok, now I try to make my own style. I thought that may be I downloaded a style with bad resolution as I have some dreams I really don't like.
@nobles To upload your own style. Click Generate at the top of the page. On the top left of styles, under Deep Styles, you will see Upload Your Own. Click on the arrow, and upload your style. It won't show anywhere, so you might think it didn't work. Adjust your settings if you wish and generate a photo like normal. Your style will work on the photo and will also be placed in your saved styles to be used again. Remember, when you upload a style, anyone on DDG can then use it. So, don't use any photos/graphics for your style you don't want used by possibly thousands of other people.

Yes, there are a lot of styles on DDG that are poor resolution, poor color, etc. Most of those I delete from my style gallery once I see how poor they generate, and only keep the good ones. :)

@nobles I've only made a few custom styles, there are just so many there already to choose from. Several of mine I never posted publicly. Here are a couple of mine that I did share on DDG. I love the blue butterfly one and use it often. I wasn't as keen on the pink, it has to be the right photo, or that one is a dud. Both you and Vicky have used the pink one and it looked great on your photos.

@Betty Jo That blue butterfly one IS pretty! I saved it :) I haven't spent much time there this week but I did play with settings on one of my images. My images seem to take a long time to render...it's probably less than a minute but it seems like FOREVER and I find it hard to sit there and wait, lol.

Thanks so much, Angie. Hope you enjoy the style. I know what you mean. Some of mine generate faster than others. I find for me very early mornings when I first get up seems to be a bit faster. Often, I'll run in and make the bed, or check what's new at the O, while a photo is generating. A friend I met at DDG when I first started told me there is another similar site but it would take her photos all day, and sometimes into the night, to generate!! I can't even imagine waiting that long.

this does look interesting

does the free version make a watermark on your photo ?

how much can you do with the free version ?

nobles

Ursula
No, there is no watermark. It is an online program and when you create your account you are getting an amount of energy that you need for processing a photo. When the energy is gone, you have to wait until you get new ones.
Here I show you an image of Unica which I processed in Deep Dream and another one completely different.
@Betty Jo here is the expert, she can give you much more information, I am a beginner.

@nobles Love your dreams, Ursula, and those two are beauties. Oh, I'm far from expert, just learning as I go. ♥
