Linda distracted me with her very cool thread: Where Might I Live?
I spent way too much time looking at the different options. NJ kept popping up as one of my options so I guess I am a Jersey Girl heart. I didn't notice an option for not having to pump your own gas but that is close to the top of my requirements. :joke: . Sort of. *wink*

Did you all have a good weekend? I puttered about the house and started to pack. I am an *awful* packer. I start out with the best intentions. I pack in "outfits." I have options for the weather and if we are going out in public. After I get that stuff ready, I panic!! And then just start throwing s*** into the bags and next thing you know, I have 10 suitcases worth of stuff for three days.
(slight exaggeration but not by much :rotfl: )
My mom is meeting me around 11 and then I'll drive the next leg. The wort of the rain is out and I checked Google Maps and we shouldn't hit any areas that flooded overnight. The county just north of me in NYS, got 8' of rain yesterday. We'll travel through the western edge of the county today but the worst damage is towards the east. I'll be very sure to not drive through any water on the road.. the photos online are scary with just the roofs of a few cars visible.

I will be back some time Wednesday so have fun while I am gone :D

@faerywings good morning. Thanks for opening the thread. However, I also got distracted with my thread and didn't get over here very quickly.

How fun that you get to go with your mom. We used to live near a river that flooded a lot in Iowa...so our motto was "turn around, don't drown"! Glad to hear that you are using that as your travel philosophy today.

Not a lot new since I chatted yesterday. Syd and I did get to the movie. It's a 10 minute drive and they gave me the Sr. discount without me asking which she found quite funny. The movie was a little bit raunchier than my normal preference but the story was of a young Chinese woman looking for her birth mother so that was good.

Got to get myself to the office...LOL. I have pictures that I'll post later.

@faerywings and we will all be good while you are gone.

@Nonni F How was the rain by you? I saw that New England got slammed but seemed like MA got the worst of it? I hope that your gardens didn't get flooded or crushed by the heavy rain.

@LSlycord We swore that we would never get Alexas and we ended up getting three of them for free. At this point, I assume Big Brother is everywhere.
Did I ever tell you guys about how my kids joke that there are FBI agents that live in their phones? It started when they first got smartphones and has now evolved into an entire "thing." It feels spot-on occasionally, right? More than occasionally. :eek2: :hiding1:

I love how you sent your morning, it's such a good way to stay grounded and energized.
I love your Merlin list and an osprey! That's so cool! We have a few of those birds here- Carolina Wrens have a nest on my neighbor's porch and we hear them sing non-stop. For such little birds, they sure are loud LOL. But the herons and ospreys-- totally cool!

@bcgal00 Uh-oh -
still haven't made muffins.
Think you'll beat your last record of not making the muffins? :floorlaugh:
Hope that the heat breaks for you soon. It's amazing here this morning, 65* and low-ish humidity. I'd send it to you if I could.

@vickyday My mom doesn't bake at all but she taught me how to cook even though she never uses a cookbook. It's all by eye.
The Martha Stewart Perfect Pie Crust is the best recipe I have tried and I tried a lot. I used to cut in the butter by hand but the food processor method is easier by far. I have an old Ninja-style mixer-thingy and just a few pulses with that gets the butter mixed in. Then all I have to do is add the ice water and squish it together by hand.
That's so good that you know when everything is due and budget around it.

Yes, my parents bought a small house in PA 25 years ago -- I was pg with Caitlyn.:) It's near Lake Wallenpaupak/Honesdale/Scranton area. We used to take the kids there all of the time. We wait for Gary to get home from work on a Friday, pile the 4 of us and the dog (who would be dosed with Dramamine b/c she'd get carsick otherwise ), and spend the weekend. My parents loved it, my mom would cook huge b-fasts and my dad would take them fishing or hiking. Gary could sleep in and I could read non-stop. Now the kids go up there on their own. Scott and Sam are heading up there next week. It's about an hour and a half from my house and the community is on a small private lake. The beach is just sand in front of the lake with a dock. But it is sand and water and that's all that matters :D
The last time we were up, my mom and I were talking about what happens to the house after they are gone. My family simply can't afford the upkeep and my brother and his family only go there 1-2 times a year.
Welp.
That's something to think about another day.
I haven't seen Chosen, what is it about?

Although -- I kept forgetting to tell you this-- Cheryl and Rae-- you watched Justified, right? Did you hear that there is another series, Justified: City Primeval, coming out this month? yeah, baby! I think I loved anything and everything that Timothy Olyphant is in. Cait calls him a Silver Fox. :nod1:

@Cherylndesigns After the busy couple of weeks you had between the holiday, the parties, and Kineligh, I am surprised you are up and about at all. Not really, you can't stay down for long, can you? I wonder where Ava gets it from?? hmmmmm :giggle4:

So gl;ad that you are feeling better too Vicky! 15 pages!!! Oh wow, that's incredible!
I swear I am *thee* slowest scrapper in the world.

Please tell me that you got a pic of Kineleigh standing next to the giant dollhouse, Cheryl. And if you did, please tell me that you can find it :rotfl:
Gotta run!! xoxoxo

That sounds so nice! Yeah, I told Mark if anything happened to him before me that I would have to sell out because I couldn't afford to keep the place with the measly SS check I get each month. I would probably go back to living with Ilene if possible! I know she would be thrilled! She still calls the room I stayed in "my room"! ;)
Chosen is about Jesus. So far it has been pretty good!

Good Morning!
Well, Mark is back to work today after being off for about a week and a half! He was dreading it. Probably the part about having to get up early again only because he really does love his job.
Nothing going on today. I got up at 8:30 and started working on cleaning up the kitchen table (which collects all of our junk) and took the leaf out of the dining room table to give more room, swept the floors and made the bed and washed and dressed. I'm waiting for Mark to ask me to lunch but he is late on his text, so he must be busy at work. It would be nice if he could work some extra hours after being forced to take vacation last week. We shall see.
I heard from Ilene while I was typing this. She sounded so much better after being on an antibiotic for the past 4 days. She has 3 more days to take it. So we will get together later this week probably.
OK, I think I'm going to fix myself some coffee and listen to my audiobook and do some online Qwirkle.
I'll probably be back to do some commenting and scrapping later today.
HAGD to all!

Good morning ladies. We had a big thunderstorm yesterday afternoon for a few hours. I think that is the first one I've seen since I moved here that lasted more than an hour. But 15 min after it finished you couldn't tell it had ever rained. It's crazy how it is here. The heat ramped right back up to the 80's and today back to the 90's. I'm heading out in a few min to take Remi to the park to run for 15 min. She really needs the exercise.

I didn't make the muffins yesterday but I did make Wonder Bread Chaffles, easy keto waffles that can be used for a hamburger bun. It was so good. I'm going to make another batch today.

I am enjoying my book "I Will Find You". There are lots of people waiting for this (on hold at the library) so I figured I'd better read this one before Fairy Tale (Stephen King) b/c if I don't finish it, it looks like weeks before I would get it back. Book club meets in a few days and we'll pick a book. I was going to pick 5 books, let them vote, but then I was re-thinking it and decided I might give two book titles each month, one readily available at the local library and the other choice could be purchased through kobo/amazon etc. I'm going to run it by the ladies on Wed when we meet. They might enjoy not having to vote, all they have to do is decide which of the two they'd like to read. Plus there is the option of not reading either, so no pressure for them.

@faerywings Hope you and your mom are able to avoid the rain. I saw the flash floods in NYC on the news this morning.

I'm going to get dressed and get to the park, the temps are rising. HAGD everyone.

Good afternoon. The activity never stops here. Casey came to clean today (we had put it off all during the holiday goings on. She has found a helper and they whizzed through our house - I couldn't believe what a difference one more person made. Before I knew it, she was saying "good-bye". She definitely needs at least one more helper to clean Adrienne's 5,000 square feet house. She eeds about 3 helpers. Ava and Bailey were here when Casey got here, and B had managed to get water all over the kitchen floor while getting about 5 drinks. She bites the water and it goes everywhere. Our last Lab did the same thing. For once, I didn't have to clean it up. She and Bailey came into my office for awhile and B laid under my desk while Ava sat and talked to me.

Adrienne and Roger came down last night just to visit and it was so nice. We vowed to get together more often (w/o kids). We had dinner a few weeks ago just the four of us and we're going to try to do it again in the next couple of weekd.

Chris @faerywings have a wonderful time with you mom and I hope she can just relax. I had to laugh at your packing antics - I'm a terrible packer too. I keep thinking "but what if I need this" or "maybe I'll need these". It's crazy making. I always take way too much but I guess I'd rather have it than not have it and then want it. ;) And yes I'm tired, but I bounce back quickly. Yeah, I wonder where Ava gets that from??? :floorlaugh:

Waving to everybody and I can't wait to see all of your layouts, Vicky @vickyday, It will take you awhile to upload them with our 5 a day max.

Well, Braden stopped by for a bit, man am I going to miss his sweet face and his sweet disposition!!
