I like brussel sprouts. There must be a story or adage connected to that expression that I don't know. lol Is it just that they take a long time to cook?

I like brussel sprouts.

Me too.

I must say, I've been completely horrified by all the Christmassy stuff in the supermarkets already - and it's only mid Sept. Does that make me sound really old and fuddy-duddy? It does, doesn't it?! Oh no, I guess that makes me seriously middle aged.

Signed,

Mrs Angry of Shepherd's Bush :rant:

Does that make me sound really old and fuddy-duddy?
Absolutely not!!! I think they start way to early and then each year it gets earlier and earlier. By time Christmas comes everyone is so desensitized!

It's just my Brit sense of humour Merkee ... I ♥ sprouts but a lot of people I know (DH included) can't stand them. The joke harks back to school dinners when the dinner ladies would start boiling the sprouts at 9am in the morning. By lunch time, the whole school smelt like rancid cabbage!!!! Yumm ... NOT!!!!

No way! Scary! And in stores already S! Double no way!

I like sprouts and cabbage! But I doubt my kids would even know what they were.

ITA! Its the same thing with clothing. Back to school stuff seems to come out in June, when it is the last thing I want to think about. Then by the time I am ready to shop for Fall clothes, there is nothing left.

I seriously cannot even think about C-mas!!
:faint:

I will NOT think about Christmas now! For if I did, I'd only stress...not accomplish anything! So I'm going to wait to begin the stress until later. LOL (I did actually check out airfare from San Antonio to Des Moines...just in case Haoyi wants to come for Christmas.)

Well I for one...am stumped this Christmas on gifts for Hubby! He just keeps saying he wants one of those flat screen tvs for the living room, but the one he wants is about $2,000 + I love the man, but seriously there is no way! *sigh* What to do...what to do.....

I thought maybe an Ipad or one of the book readers? Those of you who have them what do you have and what do you like about them?

Well...on this subject....Sharon and I have already started discussing the "christmas" list for the kids and plan to start shopping SOON!! I have already decided (about a month ago) what I was getting for Little Jaiden...The new Dora Doll House. And given the way it's selling...I best get it soon, or in about another 6 weeks...it will not be found anywhere except EBAY at double price!!! YIKES!!!!!

Now... about the sprouts.....YUCK :puke:is what I did EVERY time my Dad made me eat them as a kid!!! NO KIDDING!! THEY DO STINK too!!! I do however like cabbage when cooked into other things...like soups or STUFFED CABBAGE ROLLS!! YUM!!!

I love my iPad too. And it is sooooo much more versatile than an ereader. You can put the Kindle app on it and have both the iBooks books and Kindle books. A teacher at my school has a Kindle and loved it...until she played with her son's iPad. After that the Kindle didn't seem as intuitive and fun. But the Kindle is better in direct sunlight. If you can pay for the extra money for the iPad....I say go with that.

Ben's bday and Christmas are so close, that I've started a little stash and a Toys R Us wish list for the things that I've heard him say...that way I won't forget when people ask!

You know...this is Cameran's situation too Sara....Cameran's birthday is 9 days after Christmas.....so this year, Sharon asked him if he wanted to wait until the Summer to actually have his party....he agreed :faint: and that worked out fab....on his actual birthday...we took him to his favorite place to eat with a very small gift...and then in June he wanted a "water" party....they have a pool in the backyard and then we have the slip and slide we brought over and the mega giant water guns....he said "It was the BEST DAY EVER".....might not work for all kids...but I had tried to convince Sharon to do this from the beginning....It at least spreads it out...plus he gets to have his party outdoors.

*groan* Christmas?? already??? does Santa know about this!!! far out!! he's only just parked his reindeers hasn't he????

:peep: hmm, it appears I have a squatter in my chimney! well he will HAVE TO GO to make room for Santa!!! :bounce:

So, last year I got really mad at my mom and told her she didn't get the meaning of Christmas. She really did make getting her a gift no fun. She pretty much told everybody what to get for her and it was kinda lame. I had the perfect gift figured out for her and she didn't want a boom reader thing...which she now has. Not to mention I got her a digital frame a couple years ago that she never read to figure out and is still in it's box. So we decided lastbyearvthat we would put all of our Christmas money into a pot and adopt a needy family instead and seriously limit what we would get the kids but since I moved I don't think thatbwould come together well. My kids have soooooooooooo much crap I hate buying stuff for them but I do love Christmas. I just hate how over done it has gotten. A friend of mine was raised getting 3 gifts Christmas day to represent the gifts of the wise men and I really liked that but of course dh decided the gift we got him wasn't good enough and it got over done and he got 3 huge gifts. Why can't Christmas be simpler? Then my mom always wants to get Ethan something different instead of the things he wants like legos. It stresses me out. But this year I am determined to keep it simple. Especially with the kids being home during the day we can make stuff. Maybe we should start a thread with things to make...I'm off to do that now.
