Loved Nancy's Pont du Gard Double double page! My favorite bridge to photograph in all seasons is the Letchworth State Park bridge. I've never seen the train cross it, but it's a regular occurance.
The temperatures have been cold enough to freeze the fountain in Letchworth State Park. It is known as the ice volcano and is over 20 feet high. Our ice volcano has even made the national news!
By the last week of January, the FBI had more than 330 cases to charge with sedition. There were over 1,500 videos and the focus was on far right groups. A new coronavirus variant from South Africa was going to make a vaccine booster shot necessary, and Trump's Senate trial began.
Coming back from Moab, there was "scheduled maintenance" on Vail Pass. It was closed in both directions. We waited some at Vail, but decided to go over Tennessee Pass to Leadville to Copper Mountain over Freemont Pass. A long slow drive, but beautiful winter scenery.
We stopped halfway down the mountain to take in the wide view of Spanish Valley, Canyonlands, and the snow-peaked Henry Mountains in the distance. Then we turned around and the sun was just rising over the La Sals. We put finally on gloves when our fingers got frostbite cold.
There were so many places we had to stop and take in the views as we passed frozen waterfalls and scenic overlooks This type of trip was new to us. We had opted for riskier challenges in past years. This was an easy road and we knew we'd be able to take it again and see it anew.
There were no tracks in the new snow except those of wildlife. We stopped whenever we wanted to look. The snow sparkled in bright sun and the temperature was perfect. With a name like Sand Flats, we didn't expect steep canyon walls, frozen waterfalls, and switchbacks.

Day for me but it
is also one of the

arrives, the first
place they go is
into the kitchen to
check out all the
good food they smell.
We wait until every...
Journaling reads: I admit it, I hate winter. We had been fortunate that winter was mild in the last couple years. In fact, we hardly had snow and the kids complained and wished for snow. Today, I woke up and saw this view from our cul-de-sac. Believe it or not, it brought a smile to my face. The...
