On Mother's Day when we said goodby to Apartment 1 it was a little bit sentimental because we had stayed there so many times. Number 5 was much nicer but I wanted to remember the details of our tiny digs. I took snapshots with my phone in pre-dawn light long before the sun came up.

On our last day we especially enjoyed our time at Jasper's but saw no new birds. I found a cactus bloom in the field that wasn't there the day before. As we left, we saw a few adult quail and dozens of tiny chicks arriving. We had a great trip and reserved Apt. 5 for September, 2022.
Dozens of Gambel quail chicks, no more than an inch tall, streamed across the grassy lawn. So small they kind of looked like a swarm of locusts. Their parents weren't particularly protective as they came too close to us for a long lens. You got emotional about your photo of them.
Wow! Impressive family story and a wonderful way the dots work with the white of the torn paper and the strong blues and greens, also impressive. There's a Wikipedia page and I learned the church is from the first half of the 13th century, rebuilt and extended in 1782, when the tower was added.
There's a reason people in Arizona can set up feeders and chairs and charge five bucks to their visitors. There are almost always birds. If you sat a while and there were none, more would come. I looked for more places, in other states, but it seemed there just weren't as many birds anywhere else.
