Kay’s Memories of the Enterprise Fire
I was in San Diego and I was busy getting ready for Mom’s arrival at 3PM that day. I got a call at 4 PM from one of the chief’s wives to ask how I was doing. She then told me about the fire on the ship... and wondered if I knew where Bill...

Bill was working nights and had just arrived at the chief’s quarters right before 8 AM and was preparing to hit the rack., when he heard a loud bang. He immediately rushed down to the maintenance shop to see if they knew what was going on. “This is not a Drill” announcement was made...

The Battle Won - by Captain K L Lee
This month we mourn the deaths of 27 of our shipmates who died as a result of a decrustive fire on January 14th. Their passing has left a void in our squadrons and divisions, and in the lives of us all.
We will not forget them or their sacrifice...
I have been having leg/foot cramps at night, too. They are the PITS as they hit just as I am falling asleep! Didn't drink enough water yesterday which made them worse and last longer.
Morning, all.
I spent most of yesterday scrapping the LO(s) that I had been thinking about the night before. It turned into 4 LOs to tell the story!!! I will be uploading them to Karen Schulz's gallery sometime today. But first, I need to run a couple of errands before it gets too hot...
Morning, all. Have you ever designed pages in your mind when you are trying to fall asleep??? Had that happen last night as I was trying to go to sleep... it was midnight the last time I looked at the clock. UGH!!! I woke up early (8 AM) so am sure I will taking a nap later on today. I dug...
Back to sleeping in until 9AM!!! The heatwave is still with us so I have been sleeping with both the ceiling fan and a smaller floor stand fan near the bed running all night. The A/C is set at 80F and has been coming on as late as midnight since the heatwave started. So glad I have the A/C so...
I took time this morning to look through some boxes of my Aunt Mary's that were filled with lots of photos. This is Aunt Mary & Uncle Jim who took me traveling with them when I was just a kid and gave me my love of traveling and exploring. There are a lot of photos of when they lived in Kabul...
:floorlaugh: This year is NOT THE USUAL JULY/AUG!!! Here in Rio Rancho/Albuquerque the NORMAL temps in those months is an average high of 91°F and low of 65°F. The high temps we are having are breaking all the records.
Talk about a turn-around... I woke up at 5:30AM and couldn't go back to sleep!!! UGH!!! Finally got up at 6 AM and opened the house up - It was 76F then and has already reached 80F at 7:30 so had to close it up. Going to be another scorcher - 102-103!!! Just wish our 'normal' monsoon rains...
Morning, all... Slept in again until 9:30AM. That seems to be my wake-up time lately. It was 102F yesterday afternoon here at my house so I was staying in. More of the same for the next week so will try to do errands in the mornings. Thank heavens for ceiling fans. The AC (set at 80) has...
Left at 9AM to run errands. Picked up the missing Rx at the base from 2 weeks ago then did another commissary run while I was there. Stopped at the used bookstore near the base but didn't find any of the books I wanted. Got home at 1 PM and put the groceries away. Wrote out a couple of bills...
