When I was little, we lived in a house that had built-in bookcases and room for a TV on one wall in the basement. I would climb up and sit in the space meant for the TV. I found a design to build a "writing desk" out of cardboard in some magazine, and begged and pestered my dad to help me make it. It's in my lap in this photo. I think someone took pity on me, because the cardboard was too flimsy to hold up to writing, drawing, or coloring, so I think there is a large but thin piece of paneling or some other similar material on top of the cardboard. I would sit up there in that space and color for hours!
To create this layout, I masked my photo to fit into this cool treehouse on a hill. I blended two background papers together for the background, and layers some grass layers on top. I added the soccer ball, truck, and bucket ... as well as the rocking horse on the spring! I would have loved to ride that horse!
Journaling: "Reclaiming Me. I am reclaiming my sense of play. My creativity. My sense of fun and joy. I am recplaiming my inner child's sense of wonder and marvel, and her love of colors, textures, and shapes. I am reclaiming my happy space. I am reclaiming my happy state of mind when I am creating and making art and experimenting and playing. I am reclaiming me!"
