Let Someone Else Do It

SaraTips & Techniques

Sometimes, it’s not about what we want to say. Sometimes it’s all about what OTHERS have said. Journaling doesn’t always have to be your view of a situation. We use quotations and lyrics a lot, but what about just normal everyday words from normal everyday people? For example, I’ve been thinking about doing a layout about my dad’s love letters to my mom in Vietnam. A scanned letter from him to her will really tell that story better than I could. The other day, a friend took a picture of his 5-year-old daughter’s handwritten note saying how they never get to do anything she wants to do. The writing, the style, the physical piece of paper creates a powerful story for the audience. Here are some examples we found in the Oscraps gallery.

Love seems to inspire many of these types of layouts…both young and old. Take a look at a few of the love letters that have been captured.

And this one by Dids just melts my heart!!!!

Signs can also convey our messages pretty well and set the tone for the page.

And this is one of my favorites I found. It makes me giggle just looking at it!

So don’t be afraid to give up on your own journaling once in a while. Let someone else do it instead!

  • Such a wonderful idea! I love saving those little scraps of paper left on my desk with little notes, they would make a wonderful subject for a page 🙂
