Hybrid How To’s

Although I’ve turned digital, I still do make cards and off the wall projects from time to time. And strangely enough, I turn to my digital supplies for them (despite having a mountain load of papers!!!) In this article, I’ll be looking at 3 items where I do use my digital supplies.

Cards

I do make a fair number of cards each month. I tend to use digital papers to make them as well as digital elements. On a word document (I use Pages), I would set up the card shape (based on the dimension of a card) and add patterned paper to it. Then, I will find a suitable element to accompany it. All of them are placed on an A4 sheet which will be printed out, cut and assembled.

Here’s an example of an A4 sheet. I do try and fill the paper with other images.

In order to make it more dimensional, I would include ribbon or lace or buttons etc. Here’s the final version of a card:

The background of the digital paper has been given a coating of silver mist.

Tag

Ever notice how clothes come with fanciful tags? I usually don’t throw them away, instead I save them and use them as a base for creating my own tags. For this particular tag, I wanted  a vintage image and found one from my digital collection. Here’s the tag:

After a bit of misting on the card base, the digital images were printed out and assembled on this tag. I coloured in the figure and gave it a bit of bling!

 Treat Bag

Have a birthday party and need treat bags? I prefer to make them and usually download a template from the internet, add a digital patterned paper to it and print it out. Then, my boys and I will cut them out, assemble, decorate and fill them with sweeties. It’s more personal and fun! Here’s an example of one:

You can even personalise the treat bag. The advantage of using a digital alphabet is the fact that a letter can be used over and over again.

There are many advantages of using digital supplies in your projects. You can easily customise a digital paper, through blending, adding a particular image etc.  And if you like a particular paper, it can be used many times over! These days, even the mananufacturers of traditional scrapbooking are jumping on the digital bandwagon.  So let’s see your hybrid projects in the Oscraps gallery.
