Some years are like that- and you just have to go with the flow- ask the fam- if you were only to make one of your goodies what it would be- of course kiddo's get first choice, then you can cut down on your baking for this year. Years like this put the emphasis on where it should be- the reason for the season, and on the kiddo's. We have had several years like that- they came as a surprise as I always love Christmas, but I survived them, and learned from them.

Yes, I am. Over the past ten years, but by bit I've cut out most of those 'shoulds' and 'gottas.' Of course we have all adult children who live mostly far away and Christmas cards have become a thing of the past for most of our friends. Baking? oh I wish but waistlines prohibit it. :( I may put the front door lights up but the wreath will probably suffice. Since we were going away, there is no big tree, just a small tabletop tree. Again, that's enough for us this year.

No, I'm not a Scrooge but old enough not to frazzle myself and be a major b*tch to my husband in the process. :p Oh yeah, I thought I was a superwoman in my 40s. I learned better!

Do what you love and let the rest go. And as with all advice, take what you need and leave the rest!

Nope ... not ready at all!!!

The only sign of Christmas in my house is the wreath on the front door & the outside lights are up ... other than that, NOTHING! The tree (artificial) is still in it's box, the only cards created / sent are the ones for the card exchange here and the only present I've got is the photobook for my boss! I haven't even got a valid excuse ... I've just had a week off work (using up some of my annual holiday allowance) and I'm still not organised! Hey-ho ... it will all come good in the end (I hope)!!!

I've come to define ready as what is done when the time is up, knowing I've done my best.

Now, that is not to say I will not be a busy beaver today, finishing up crafting, wrapping and cleaning in prep for "pre-dinner" on Saturday before we leave town on Sunday, with whatever gifts have been completed, the rest to be supplemented with cold hard cash :)

I'm NOT!
I'm never ready for christmas. It's nice and cozy with a tree and lights. But if it was my choise??? There wouldn't be any tree inside! I hate the needles and that sort of things!

But I like christmas songs. :D

okay, so...my house has been decorated for a while...since the first week of December. I've been listening to Christmas music since July, basically!! LOL!!! I've been putting together Christmas projects for about three weeks now for my blog extravaganza that starts on Tuesday! eeep!

but I have not bought ONE present!!! LOL!!! I usually wait until we do our annual Christmas party gig and get a big check and then I feel released to go spend money!! and that was last night!! Otherwise, I probably will make most of my gifts this year seeing as how we just got a new house (renovations mean new to me! LOL!!) this year!

O so scrappy!
I am not even close to ready. We brought in the tree hoping to decorate it this weekend, but I am still down for the count with this nasty coughing and congestion. The kids have been stir crazy all day today b/c I have mostly napped and it has been a do nothing day.
All that being said, would it be a terrible thing if Santa skipped coming to our house this year? :D

Kidding of course. I am sure the Christmas bug will bite me soon enough. ;)

Ready?
I'm actually so behind, I just scrapped Christmas 1967 ;)

Actually - I'm not doing much - we are quite laidback about Christmas. Only thing we really care about is the food :) I'm going to make the meat balls tomorrow (5 lbs hamburger - takes forever to roll). Then I'm gonna shop for the rest of the food, and prepare as much as possible. Hopefully I'll be done by the end of next week.

No where near ready, but I am with Maureen!! I refuse to frazzle myself this year! Whatever gets done will get done, but I am not losing sleep over it! My main 'thing' I NEED to get done is cleaning the house as Christmas as it is at our place this year, but as for prezzies and such, they are limited, and everyone is bringing a plate so no one is going to stress over anything!!! All the family have vowed NOT to stress out this Christmas and to just have a happy get together on the day!

sort of NOT. i still have to remove every stitch of everything from my closet so that i can crawl to the door of the Christmas Stuff storage place. that always immobilized me for a good long time. i hate doing it. BUT. the gifts are all sent to the Grandmen and their Family, and the others are bought and waiting to be wrapped. i have to bake my bread centerpiece and freeze it, and bake a few loaves of bread and freeze them, and think a bit about Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinners. then, of course, the house has to be cleaned. but i'm not feeling too frantic. maybe that will come next week!

Almost ready... still decorating and most of my presents are bought, still have to wrap and buy a couple more things. What is taking the longest are my calendars, but they will be done on time. Whew!!!!

I guess I'll get into the mood properly tomorrow - It's Lucia :) I'll set the alarm at 6.45 am - go down - make me some coffee, and watch the celebrations on TV. 1 hour of Christmas songs, it's still all dark and quiet. I love it!

Oh Helen- stunning page. truly! And I know exactly how you feel.

Eva- :pound: I scrapped a page from 1997, so I am still behind, but not quite as bad as you!!!

Ona and Maureen- Sounds like being in your 40's is that turning point, so I have a few years left of panic before wisdom hits me?

I am actually feeling better this week than last week. I guess I am slowly chipping away. I made three batches of cookies this weekend, burned some of them-- I am not liking the way the new oven cooks, but that made some "fair game' for the family. The tree is up and the house is mostly decorated. Still a mess, but that will get there. I am about 85% done shopping for my own gifts and about 50% done for the gift basket orders I have. The gifts I do have are wrapped.

The turning point for me was getting to spend time with my godson this weekend. We watched movies and read Christmas stories (well, he chewed on the books while we read them), we helped decorate their tree.... and all I could think was how lucky we were to have him in our lives.

Well, I am done the big part of Christmas...decorations up, kids gifts bought...but there are still a few small gifts to buy and a bit of baking to do and it just feels like Christmas is sinking me this year. Seriously. I don't usually feel this way but I just think if someone wants me to do one more thing I might just hibernate until Christmas is over. I think maybe I need to watch the Grinch...or just decide that next year there will be no presents :). That sounds good about now.

Definitely not ready NANA!!! EEK! Work picked up this year for this time, (as it should), & I'm not used to it.

Do have some decorations up though! Woot! Busy busy!

I'm slowing getting there! I'm so happy as we just took the out-of-town packages to the post office and have our gifts for each other hidden away. The only cards sent though went to the snail mail exchange. Eeek! Got to get the family history newsletter together too. At least the painting of the living room is finished and we can get it looking decorated now.
