Waving from Southern Germany!

Yup, the one place most people think of when they imagine Germany: lederhosen and dirndls. And I just finally got a dirndl this year too, ha!

Anyway, I'm new, followed Anna Aspnes right on over because I just didn't WANT to scrap without her! She kindly accepted my pleading to be on her team, and here I am!

I can't wait to get to know you here, and figure out the forums, the first of which: why do all the threads open up with the newest post first? Is there ANYway to change that?!! It's confusing me! :?

And with that, I'm off to bed (probably)!

:welcome: to Oscraps Amber! Where abouts in Germany are you? I used to live / work in Viersen [and various other UK military bases]. I ♥ Germany ... though it's been many years since I left :-(

Oh, about the forum layout ... just go to User CP [top left corner] and Edit Options ... you can then change the way the threads are displayed.

Thanks, Sue! I'll go do that! I'm in Southern Germany, near Munich, only a few hours from Switzerland, Austria or Italy, whichever way the wind blows! ;)

Hi Amber! I bet you didn't have to beg much!! Anna is such a great designer. Now I know who to visit when we drive through Germany! I bought my now 44 yr old son lederhosen when we were in your area back in the 70s. He was about 4 and loved them!

I love boys in lederhosen...TOO cute! We haven't been able to make ourselves spend that amount of money on something that he will outgrow so quickly though. However, I found a pattern in the most recent Burda Style for boys lederhosen-style pants out of boiled wool. Now THAT I could make myself and save some money, and he'd still look pretty adorable (I hope!). :D

You know Clara, it gets weirder and weirder! I'm still trying to place you exactly because I thought someone else lived next door to the Blaschkas, but obviously, you were there the whole time?! And I spent many a day at Melissa's! Are you sure we didn't play together in elementary?!

There was another family that lived on the other side of the Blaschka's...The Baxter's maybe?? I didn't move in until 5th grade, so you would have been in 6th. Some older people lived there before us with some pomeranians. Our house was the yellow one.

Weirder and weirder, Clara. We moved in there when I was in fifth! And yes, the Baxters. that was the name I was trying to remember. Peter and Sam. My sis had a crush on Sam. :D

Hi Amber, nice to see you here and in Anna's creative team. Thanks for your kind words. I have never visited Germany to have an opinion about the people in general, but we have a German friend from Berlin and he is a very hot tempered man like many of the Greeks.

Ha! That's why I said Bavarians! :D My husband is from near Berlin, but we live near Munich. There are however ALWAYS exceptions and I do have some good Bavarian friends! :D
