Soooo, anyone else read the Sookie Stackhouse series? They're by Charlaine Harris and I looooooove them!

i've never heard of them either and i need a new something to read. i need something not hard core. i read one jodie piccoult book and never will again. too much for me, ya know??

Ohhhh Vicki I LOVE Sookie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A friend introduced me to her series last summer and I am hopelessly addicted now!!

It is another Vampire series. Have you seen True blood on HBO that is based on these stories however although entertaining the series is no where near as good as the books!

The series is a first-person account of Sookie's life as a barmaid and telepath in the fictional town of Bon Temps, Louisiana.

I don't want to give too much away ;) It's follows Sookie and her friends/family from her point of view. Vampires have just "come out" and have been classified a new type of citizen of the USA. They no longer have to hide and they live amongst the regular folk ;)

Give them a try!!

The first book in the series is "Dead until Dark" my library carried it, in case you don't want to spend money on a series you might not like :)

That must be the books my hairdresser was telling me about...she couldn't remember the name of the author...but someone at the bookstore told her they were more adult vampire series! Oh my...I just love vampires!

holy cow!!!! this will be the VERY next on my list!!!! yaaay!!!!! i'll never betray edward, of course... he'll always be my first *TRUE* love. but i can't WAIT to check these out! THANKS v!!!!!

I absolutely love the TV show! I've never heard of the books but as soon as I finish Angels & Demons I will definitely be getting those!

Oh thanks Kat!

Yep, I love this series. I am anxiously awaiting book #9 that comes out sometime in May I think (dang, I can't wait!).

And, Amanda, I know that noone can replace Edward, but, um, I sort of have a thing for Eric in this series. :)

Hijacking for a second... (Twilight/Sookie virgin here) Which book did you read, Clara? Why didn't you like it? I just read Plain Truth and LOVED it!

better than DaVinci IMHO

I loved them both!! Crazy me wanted to get the symbol as a tattoo, wasn't it cool???

hahahaha... ok. well... i just bought The Host (the other stephanie meyers book), so as soon as i finish that one, i'll move onto these.

(although i will embarrasingly say that i have to finish the first twighlight AGAIN before i can even start the host. hahaha... yes... i started over. i got so used to cuddling with edward before bed every night, when i was done with book 4, i was a mess! hahahahaha. so i just started over until i could find another book.)

it's a running joke in my house now. whenever will snaps at me or is anything *less than perfect*... i'll look at him with squinted eyes and say... "you're such a NON-vampire... this is an outrage". bahahahahaa.

Clara- Love Jodie P- but yes, they are *very* intense. I just finishd Handle with Care and now I am rereading HP 3 and 4 just for some "lightness."
My BFF gave me a stack of her books (and I have read several already) but I have to space them ot or it does get to be too much.
19 Minutes was wonderfully written, but heartbreaking.

If you need light- *run* for Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. I promise you will laugh out loud for real!

Amanda, I know that noone can replace Edward, but, um, I sort of have a thing for Eric in this series.
Me too!!!!!!!!!!! He rocks!

I read "My Sister's Keeper." It wasn't a bad book just too much for me. I mean its about a girl who was born only to provide her sister with cord blood because her sister has cancer. Then it goes through her journey of contacting a lawyer as a child to stop the cycle of using her organs to keep her sister alive. It was so heartbreaking and sad. I can't read another book like that, ya know? I'm up for Twilight, HP or some other thoughtless stories though. I love good books but I'm just not up for hardcore these days, kwim??

Looove the Sookie Stackhouse books! I've read them all and can't wait for book #9!

Surprisingly...the TV series stays pretty close to the storyline of the books. It adds some characters...but I was totally addicted! Can't wait for it to return!

Vick, are you reading these on your Kindle? or IRL books? lol!

**Hijacking thread**

Kindle?? I've heard about that. Does someone want to tell me a little bit about it??
