Thanks so much! They were pretty bad and beside and below us, but we were lucky. We have cold temps today that blew in, though.

It's absolutely devastating. I know that one of our cheery O's is in the area. She and her family are OK, just without power and cold. I haven't heard about anyone else yet.

Susan (aka Susan - 3j's) lives the vicinity but she and her family are safe but without power for some 24hrs. Some of her friends have lost their houses though, what a terrible thing to have happened.

Just been watching the scenes and they are truly devastating, what a frightening thing to have gone through, just so very sad leading up to Christmas as well. Sending much love and best wishes to everyone affected by them. xxxxx

The size and power of them seem incomprehensible.
I am glad to hear that Susan is ok, hope everyone else is too.

I heard from my DD#2 that the tornado that hit West Brandon, MO was just a few miles from their house. One of the photos of the huge tornado was taken by a neighbor less than a half mile from their house. She and DSon-in-law are okay. So much devastation.

How terrible what those tornadoes have done, my heart and thoughts go out to all the people who have lost their home or their loved one.

I was literally crying yesterday while it was on the news. I haven't turned it on today, because I got so upset yesterday. I'm just heartbroken for those poor people who lost everything right here at Christmas, especially. Anytime is terrible, though. The nursing home story was the one that tore me up. The staff put all of the residents in one hallway and when the pillows they were holding blew away, they (the staff) actually threw their own bodies on top of the residents. I'm tearing up just typing this.

I have to tell a similar story. Several years ago, I was visiting my parents and we went over to Walmart. While we were in there, a tornado was sighted and it was coming right over the store. They locked all of the doors and made everybody go to the middle of the store and they brought every pillow, blanket, anything soft and made us all hold them. They even came around and took our names and addresses. It was VERY frightening!! Luckily, it didn't break any windows or do any real damage, but we could hear it. That was one of the most frightening experiences of my life.

I can't imagine how terrifying this situation is.

Out of all the natural disasters, tornadoes scare me the most. We get hurricanes and blizzards on the East Coast but that has so much warning and time to prepare.

Having lived most of my life in Iowa, tornadoes were a real part of our lives. Basements were necessities. But I much prefer the hurricanes now because of all of the advance warning.
The amount of devastation is heartbreaking!
