original message:
If you get the SSL Certificate error in the shop, here is why and what to do about it.

Every year we have to renew our SSL Certificate. Well, I was working on the renewal this morning and apparently I did the server request differently than I did it last year, so our certificate is showing as "Self Signed" rather than by Entrust, which is our certificate issuer. The connection is still secure, it's just that the major browsers do not recognize me as a "recognized authority". I hope to have this taken care of within the next day or two, but I have to wait for Entrust to get back to me.

In the meantime, it is still safe to log in and shop. If you are even slightly worried, remember if you check out using PayPal, all of your payment information is entered on PayPal's website, so the only thing you are entering on the Oscraps site is your Oscraps login information.

Here's how you can still shop:

Internet Explorer
Click "Continue to this website".

Firefox
Click "I understand the risk" and then, "Add Exception". Wait a moment for it to load the information. You can check or uncheck "Permanently store this exception". This is your choice. Click "Confirm Security Exception".

Google Chrome
Click "Proceed anyway".

Thanks for the heads up Vicki ... I probably would've freaked out if something weird had happened to me in the store before reading this thread! Hope everything is sorted back to normal soon for you (and us too!)

You might see it just from the forums and gallery as well. I had it pop up on me this morning, and I wasn't in the shop at all.
Just a heads up-

V-thanks for letting us know that we are "safe" LOL

Thanks Vicki! I know the certificate stuff is a pain and can be confusing. We had the same problem with our library website this year too. Good luck with it!

it should be fixed "soon". We've finished all of the "validation/verification" process and I'm just waiting on them to issue the actual certificate so I can load it and we can be all pretty and "official" again. :)

Ooooh, in all the technie-ness that's going on......I notice two new BLUE friendly chirupping buttons!

Oooooh, I spotted those [in the top right hand corner] too Selena ... new buttons to press & explore ... weeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!
