I am looking for Netflix Instant queue suggestions.

We just finished the Firefly series/movie (thanks Sara, good rec!), before that we did The Walking Dead and Dr Who and Eureka. But now we need something new. We looked at some of our Suggestions and Breaking Bad and American Horror Story popped up. Any ideas on them? Or suggestions for another series to try?

Sharron
Murdoch Mysteries. Set in Toronto at the turn of the last century...a little steampunk...a little humor....a little romance...a little murder (no gore)...and CLEAN! No innuendos even.

Bramwell: Set in England 19th century...a woman doctor and the struggles she must face as a female in a male dominated profession (old PBS series).

Midsommer Murders...or Midsommer Mysteries...can't remember: "Cozy" English countryside mysteries...no gore....clean...some humor.

My husband liked Breaking Bad but I thought it was lame. I heard Downtown Abbey was good...but I like silly stuff like Ugly Betty and just got caught up on Parenthood. I loved Hot in Cleveland. That is just fun.

Thanks for the suggestions Shar! That first one sounds good!
Its hard to find one that both Gary and I will like, but I think he might enjoy that one.

Vicki-- what else do you watch that I might be missing? Sounds like we have the same taste in TV :)

Clara- what was lame about Breaking Bad? Is it worth watching at all?

Thx!

Glad you liked Firefly!!

I will take a peek at my queue after I get dinner going and see what's on there for you. :)

I didn't like the flow of it. It was very Indy film where it moves kinda slow and dry. I just didn't like it...BUT I know a lot of people who love it. The basic story line is there is a teacher with a family and handicapped son who finds out he has cancer so he decides to make clean meth to make enough money to support his family after he dies of cancer. It may be your type of thing...it just wasn't mine. Now my husband has us watching The Walking Dead. Definitely not my type of thing but not bad.

Sara, I know how you drool over Nathan Fillion and the first few episodes, I couldn't see why-- by then end- totally got it!! He's really sharp and funny!
You watch Castle too? How is that? *wondering it that is on Netflix*

I was looking into B. Bad, Clara, and I am wondering if it is too close to home-- with being ill and not having money and all that? Might be too heavy for us? What do you think?

Castle is awesome. I, too, drool over Nathan Fillion. If you like him, watch Dr Horrible's Sing-a-long blog.

Other shows I watch:
Big Bang Theory
Top Gear - both UK and US versions

Other series recommendations of shows that are no more....
Battlestar Gallactica
Torchwood

and then lame contest shows that will make you question my judgement on recommendations lol - So You Think You Can Dance, The Voice, Idol, X-Factor - but those probably aren't on Netflix

If I think of any others, I'll be back :)

I just asked Derek about Breaking Bad since he watches it and I didn't get into it. he said it is heavy and dark and a lot of irony. It may be worth watching an episode or two and seeing if you like it but it is a bit heavy.

OH!!! How I Met Your Mother is on Netflix. One of my all time favorite shows. I keep waiting for Big Bang Theory to come out.

I do love Castle too. He's not in the same shape he was, but he's funny and emotional and very likable. I read the books too. The audio version is awful, but the books are fun. It's not on Netflix sadly. I assume they are still trying to sell the DVD sets.

Big Bang Theory is awesome too, but again, not on Netflix. Chris, I think you would like Big Bang Theory too.

What about Sherlock? I've heard lots of good things about that. I haven't watched it yet though. Or Game of Thrones?

oooo Do you watch Psych? That's a great one and that's on Netflix. Burn Notice is good too. and White Collar is. Talk about YUM!!!!

You all rock!
LOVE Big Bang. Caitlyn got us into that one and I swear, that makes me laugh out loud- literally.

I have tried How I met your Mother- years ago- and it was ok.

Torchwood! I forgot about that. We watched a few episodes while watching for a new tv season to begin, and then we stopped. I for got out that, we'll have to get that back into the queue. (And Dr Who Christmas special must be coming soon, wheeeeee!!!)

Clara, thx for checking with Derek! :) Maybe we'll try it out, its not like we don't watch other dark shows, like Criminal Minds, but I worry about the illness-facotr being too relate-able. Cant hurt to try it!

Do you get Leverage on Netflix in the US? Clever funny a fave .... Also Justifed but it's quite violent.

Hi J-Incognito! LOL

I looove Leverage, Parker is my fave!

I have never heard of Justified, but since I am going through Major Walking Dead Withdrawal I don't think violence is an issue here.

And we did try Breaking Bad!. We are 4-5 episodes in. Gary likes it, I am not crazy about it, but its ok and enjoyable enough to veg out in front of.

That's how Derek and I were about Breaking Bad. Honestly...I just found it boring...but he likes it.
