@taneva asked us about 5 quick questions about movies but I am going to ask you about your favorites, the ones that are family cult hits. You know the type, where everyone recites along or brings up random quotes in general conversation.
Do you still watch the same movies from when you were a child with your family? How about the ones you watched when your kids were little? You know that one-- when it was possible you would scream if you saw it one more time but if you didn't you wouldn't have ten minutes to take a shower before your toddler started to cry? Can you watch that now and be ok? Do you have a movie that you have only seen once or twice but can see yourself watching again and again?
To make this a little more difficult (uuhhh- I mean *insightful!*) - you can't use a holiday movie. If you want to use DIe Hard, I am not about to quibble over that as a holiday movie or not Movies like the Grinch or A Christmas Story- one of my faves- don't count.
One movie that I have seen over and over again is Monty Python and The Holy Grail. I watched it as I was a teenager so many times, watch it with the kids when they were younger and still laugh my butt off at it.
Some other family faves are Space Balls, Young Frankenstein, History of the World, and Blazing Saddles. Mel Brooks is a genius.
Disney movies are always a watch again and again. Aristocrats and Peter Pan seemed to be on at all times for a long time when the kids were young. I don't miss the days of the videotape format, having to rewind the tape so they can rewatch it.
I know I have a lot more, but that is a start. I can't wait to hear about your picks!
