Ice Breaker: What Movie Can You Watch Again and Again?

@taneva asked us about 5 quick questions about movies but I am going to ask you about your favorites, the ones that are family cult hits. You know the type, where everyone recites along or brings up random quotes in general conversation.

Do you still watch the same movies from when you were a child with your family? How about the ones you watched when your kids were little? You know that one-- when it was possible you would scream if you saw it one more time but if you didn't you wouldn't have ten minutes to take a shower before your toddler started to cry? Can you watch that now and be ok? Do you have a movie that you have only seen once or twice but can see yourself watching again and again?

To make this a little more difficult (uuhhh- I mean *insightful!*) - you can't use a holiday movie. If you want to use DIe Hard, I am not about to quibble over that as a holiday movie or not :D Movies like the Grinch or A Christmas Story- one of my faves- don't count.

One movie that I have seen over and over again is Monty Python and The Holy Grail. I watched it as I was a teenager so many times, watch it with the kids when they were younger and still laugh my butt off at it.
Some other family faves are Space Balls, Young Frankenstein, History of the World, and Blazing Saddles. Mel Brooks is a genius.
Disney movies are always a watch again and again. Aristocrats and Peter Pan seemed to be on at all times for a long time when the kids were young. I don't miss the days of the videotape format, having to rewind the tape so they can rewatch it.

I know I have a lot more, but that is a start. I can't wait to hear about your picks!

The Fifth Element. A few years back we even paid to go to the anniversary showing in the theaters

Without a doubt - As Good As It Gets! We sit and say all of the words while we watch it. My youngest DD knows EVERY word. hahaha

Oh gosh so hard to pick which movies I would watch over and over again, but because I just watched "The Holiday" for about the 10th time the other day I will go with that one. LOL

I don't think I know any of those named so far. Can't imagine watching movies over once let alone more, well with maybe a few exceptions that I haven't seen in forever just to see if they're like I remember.

My list of movies I've seen more times than what might be healthy: Dirty Dancing, Pretty Woman, Beautiful Things, Notting Hill, Terminator 2, Romuald et Juliettte, Latter Days, Grease, Die Hard, Maverick and many more. If I like a movie, I can see it again and again and again.

Hi, I have a tonne of movies I like to rewatch, usually sci fi, action or horror. I do love comedies too & one very quoted between my family is Zoolander. Main quotes

What is this? A center for ants?!
Misquoted " your saying I’m a bad eugoogoolizer"
I think I've got the black lung, pop *cough* *cough*
You can read minds?

i often run around randomly saying “Get to the Chopper” or “Get your arse to Mars“. In a bad Austrian accent. lol. Maybe you can guess the movies. :D. Usually to annoy my husband. We have our favourite quotes but not movies. We met during the golden age of television. Lol.

i have a big one with my brother & it’s not a movie but I’m making a special mention as this has gone on forever & all the time (we see each other only a few times a year). “I have a fever & the only prescription is more cowbell!”. I feel like everyone knows where this is from.

Night at the Roxbury is one we watch whenever it comes on. It’s a fun silly comedy. A few others I’ll watch over and over are Saturday Night Fever, Flashdance, Moulin Rouge and A Star Is Born.

I just watched harry potter 7 last night, on tv they repeat it and show all parts weekly.
When a new film came out we would start watching the series from part 1 again to get in the mood for the new film.
But i can watch any film or tv series i like over and over again!

Diane, we did the same thing. I can't tell you how many times we have watched the entire series. It is still so intense!

I love Maverick. I was a fan of the TV Show and then was happy when the movie did not disappoint.

I know this dates me … but since you already know I’m old …

I’ve seen Casablanca at least 50 times and I watch Holiday Inn and White Christmas every single time they are on. Also, all Humphrey Bogart/Lauren Bacall movies are way up on my list.

You're only as old as you feel.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Can't say that one with a straight face, nope!

You aren't old at all-- we're vintage!

I never look a movie twice :D
Really?? There are some that once is enough but I like seeing some things twice.

Maybe because I don't remember things very well, I like watching movies and TV shows again.
My family is rewatching What We Do in the Shadows again, just because it gets funnier each time. We watched The Haunting Of Hill House three times. Each time you pick up on more things that make sense at the end.

I’m with you on both. I’m not sure how many times I’ve seen What We Do in the Shadows. I wrote quotes before of repeat play movies for me & family. There are lines from this movie that my husband & I will quote, I’d forgotten, lol. “We‘re werwolves not swear wolves” & explaining why vampires like virgin blood by the character played by Jermaine Clements.

Hill House twice, sort of equal parts horror & sad.

@LazyDaisy we watched another episode of WWDITS Season Two last night with the Superb Owl. We all yell "Bat!" and then "Human Form" when Lazlo transforms hahaha! And when Nadja sings, we "sing/screech" along with her.
Our best is the NSFW version of Nandor: "F-ing guy." We have all gotten the accent down pretty good :)

Omg, too many good lines in the tv show. I walk around randomly saying Creepy paper & Cloak of Duplication. Trying unsuccessfully to sound like Nador. Everything Lasso says is hilarious with that great voice. Lol, forgot Nadia singing. I love her voice. It’s like she’s from a bad 70s folk band. I loved when Lazlo had the on & off girlfriend come over & they kept trying to make up female friction between her & the girlfriend. Also the complaining of the hat no one listens too.

I really struggle with watching the same movie multiple times, it can't keep my attention.
For Christmas movies of course we have a few family tradition during the month of December, but I'm secretly napping or checking Insta. ;):p

I do that with the TV shows that have some clues revealed at the end, so the second watch can be even bigger pleasure.
Also I can constantly use CSI and Midsomer Murders as a background during work, but I don't think it's equal for a movie, at least I don't have any like that.
