I posted my first LO - please critique me?

Hi ladies - I made 2 of them (they're the same but with different backgrounds - I was trying to use an overlay and then started tweaking colors and just couldn't decide what looked the best so I'm looking for some feedback please.

PLEASE, PLEASE give me honest feedback (not that I don't think you would) but I really want to be good at this and the only way I can do that is to get some real honest to goodness feedback if it stinks. So please don't be afraid to say "this totally stinks" but if you do, please make sure to tell me why you think it stinks and what I could have done differently. Even if it's something small.

I love them both!!! I can't pick a favorite either!!!! Honestly, looking at the LOs I wouldn't know you were a new scrapper :) I'm going to go leave love on each one!

Remember that scrapbooking is something that you do for YOU and not for others :) It's to scrap your memories, feelings, etc... so don't worry if you're "really good" at it! As long as you're happy with what you've done, it's perfect!

The Paperclipping Digi Show (a podcast) did an episode recently about always trying to reach another person's standards or style, when scrapbooking is supposed to be for you, and how that striving mindset is a negative one. They covered EVERY aspect of it from striving to be the best to get on the best CTs, to just not being able to be happy with every LO. I totally recommend listening to the podcast - several of our fabulous O designers have even been on it!!!

Goodness!!! Suzy!! what stunning pages!!! love them both and I think BOTH pages are simply perfect!!
 
I think they are both awesome! Meg's right...they are about you, so it doesn't matter what they look like. Plus, as you grow as a scrapper, you'll develop your own style and find out what really suits you.

I think I like the darker one better because the elements stand out more on it, but it really is a matter of preference on this one! They are both great!
 
Suzy- Just left comments- there was nothing to critique!

I am one of those scrappers that constantly compares myself to others and feels inadequate. If Helen wasn't such a sweetheart, I think I would have to hate her she is so amazingly talented and creative. (:kiss: Helen!)

meg- thanks for posting that podcast, I am going to have to listen to then soon and often!
 
Chris - your pages are awesome...no comparing allowed. I think we have to put those Aussies in their own category of scrapping. I think they secretly have super scrapping powers that only Aussies receive. If I compared myself to them I would possibly never scrap again. I do love to look at their pages though.
 
super scrapping powers!! I think you might be onto something! Now of course I have to go over to Helen's gallery and check out this wonder woman scrapper ;)

Thank you all so much for checking my LOs out - it felt so good to get the wonderful comments. I had the confidence to go ahead and do another one today - I'm having a great time with this but I think I might run out of people to scrap so I better get the camera out and start snapping!!!

and we love you guys back!! and super scrapping powers???? I don't think so, we all have our own individual styles and that is the main thing!! and I love browsing through all the galleries as well................where do you think I get my inspiration from????????????? :)

You know what I think it is?
My theory is that it is because they are a day ahead of us. That means that they can see what pages we are going to scrap before we do them. Then, they steal our ideas, scrap our pages and then post them. Then when we want to scrap our own ideas, they are already in the Gallery and we can use that idea anymore or it will look like we are copying them.

There. That's it.

When I look at pages, I feel the beauty in them when they are FROM THE HEART!!!!!! I don't really care for the pages that over run the gallery seem to be so ELEAGANT AND BEAUTIFUL..but yet they are pictures off the web, and just made for show...no story, no heart!!!


I LOVE YOUR PAGES SUZY!!! You have done a fantastic job sweetie...I left you some love!!!! YOu keep them coming!!!!!!
