I am doing a lot of handmade gifts this year. I tend to do a lot to begin with but this year my shopping is extremely limited so I am doing more than typical.
My mom's neighbor gave me a huge box of yarn so I started crocheting a bunch of things.
I made a "scarf" for my mom. It is in quotes because it is kinda bad,. No I mean it is actually really bad but my mom won't notice.
Two things I made that are actually pretty darn adorable if I do say so are a little squid for my niece and a pirate octopus for my son. Ignore the mistakes in them, I know that I missed a few stitches here and there. And my tension is terrible which is why the scarf is technically a "scarf." I will have a share a pic of that later on so you can see what I mean. LOL

I know that the people here at the O are super talented and creative so I feel pretty safe in assuming that you are making some gifts this year too.
I would love to see them!

The pirate octopus is so cute with the eyepatch!

I knitted a tiny scarf for myself. Not as a xmas gift. I used a hairband for a scarf the other day and it was so practical that I knitted a new one. A quick little project.

I've been dealing with an autoimmune flair for the last little bit - think I overdid it at DSD and haven't recovered fully yet so I've scratched all the homemade stuff I had planned to make and am going with the "simmer pot" stuff from this youtube video. I think it's pretty, can be done in bulk and disposable so won't be cluttering up people's homes and will make their homes smell cozy if they do it!

I'm going to put it in little baggies instead of the jar to keep it simple and inexpensive.

Chris, these little guys are so cute! I've been hoping to see them!

Vicky, I'm with you - all of my plans have kind of flown out the window. I love your idea, though.

Madi, I'd love to see your scarf.

I MIGHT get a couple of canvases done for gifts - I just need to decide what I'm going to do.

Diane, that is a great idea, and good for you for making it for yourself.
Heironique, hope that you finish your scarf!

Vicki- I am on the woman's blog right now (in another tab LOL). They are really such a cute idea and I am wondering if I can dehydrate the semi-old oranges I have sitting in the fridge drawers. I know I have cinnamon sticks and we are getting our tree today... hmm...

so, here you can see my finished "scarf"

and one in the making

it is only 60 cm long (24 inches) and 12 cm wide (4 inches) and
sewn together at the end. I don't like scarfs that are to long or wide, always so much scarf to hide in your coat? So I made this. It works fine, just looks a bit different.
you can also use a button and buttonhole if you don't want to sew it together.

Nice scarves! I think I'd like it buttoned like you mention so I wouldn't have to take it off over my head. I'm weird like that lol

Stupid question for all of you--

How do you keep your foundation chains so even? No matter how hard I try, they always end up uneven, some chains too tight, some too loose. Look at Diane's edges (Closing my eyes at the buttons LOL), so smooth. Mine are a mess.
I will have to upload some pics of the scarves. The second one is much better than the first. It shall only be called a 'scarf' instead of "scarf." :p

I thought it's good idea to make some Makeup Cosmetic Bag as I love them and have huge collection. But they looks to much as a child school project, I don't think that I will can use it for my family gifts!

Felis- they are adorable! Are they made from pants or did you use a pattern to make them look like pants?

Thank you, Chris, you lies good :tongue1: !
They are made from pants, I love their material, but they was from this awful trend for low-rise waist. It was supposed bags to be square, but didn't happen  .

What pretties you ladies are doing. I love those sea creatures, Chris! So cute. Dianne, the scarves are so pretty. I love that blue one. (You can put buttons on mine. haha) Vicki, I love that idea. I have some simmering now and even though it's not very Christmasy in my house, between the simmering and the fireplace it does seem cozy. :) Felis, those bags are so cute. I love the plaid!
I had to figure out something to make from a bed so I've been crocheting bar soap scrubbies for my family, with their favorite homemade herbal soaps I had picked up at the local farmers market. They're chunks of soap so they fit in these soap bags perfectly.

Here are the two scarves I crocheted. You can see how messy the sides are on the darker one. ;) The cream and grey one actually came out much nicer.
