You asked about my daughter in your comment on my beach bay layout so i thought i would just share here. Chloe is 6 years old and is our miracle baby. My hubby had testicular cancer when my middle child Alexa was 2 and my oldest child Myles was 5. We battled it with everything we had for 2 long, stressful years and even thought he wouldn't make it at one point. But he did. Of course the chemo destroyed ay chance of us having more children (which at the time we were ok with, just thankful for what we had and wanting him well)or so we thought. 8 years later I found out I was pregnant and our beautiful girl Chloe Summer Hope Prins was born! That's the story :)

Oh Heather.Tears are spilling over. And I thought Chloe was still a baby. She is now the same age as our DGD, Avery (subject of many layouts, as she still loves to be photographed!). I'm so glad your husband recovered. We are cycling fans, so followed Lance Armstrong's battle. Now I understand why you call Chloe your Miracle Child. :D TFS

Yes at the time Lance was just ahead of my hubby in his battle so we followed his story closely and he gave us great hope and inspiration. My hubby is a huge fan of course. Lance also had a child (his first two were from sperm he had frozen, but his last one was a surprise!) 10 years after his cancer treatments!

*This* is what I love about scrapping and Oscraps. The sharing, compassion, and "real-ness" of each and every one of us.

heather, thank you so much for sharing a truly inspirational story!!!!
It is so refreshing and heartwarming to hear about good things on the internet, rather than so much of the ugly.

that is what is so great about this hobby/passion we have. These stories get told and yes mine has a happy ending but even those that aren't as happy still need to be told. I am scrapping backwards with my albums so I haven't come to that part of my life yet and it is an ugly dark part, believe me, cancer gutted us in more ways than one. Tell your stories, even if you don't share them online.

Heather, I knew your story but I'm so glad you shared it here. I totally agree with everyone - our stories need to be told and draw us so much closer when we tell them.

Heather, we've had two "gutted our life" experiences. You probably will agree with me, that when we come out the other side, and can look back, we might not ASK to have them again, but we know they made us better people. And once "the worst" has happened, you know you can survive more than you thought.

Did you know that Amen came from the Old English word Solthice which means "truly". I think that word applies in so many ways here Shar.

Thanks for sharing yourself with us Heather. You are amazing!

Hmmm not totally sure I agree with that. I mean I guess I am stronger but we were never 'take Life for granted' people so I always felt we just didn't need to go down that path to appreciate all that we had. It took us forever to get through that, it defined us for a long time. I am a 'what if' person now, even more than i was before, always thinking that something could happen, to be extra careful, etc. I wish i wasn't like that so much. I am just in the process of doing a layout about the word grateful and what it means to me, i'll share it soon. There should be an in depth journaling challenge here!!
