My idea of heaven! We are getting closer--
7 more days!

How are you all doing today? It was such a nice warm day yesterday, I even tried to open the windows a bit. Unfortunately, it wasn't that warm so I had to close them. It takes a long time for my house to warm up since we are surrounded by trees. A lot of the time in spring, my house is colder inside than it is outside. Everything is extremely soggy but I saw another cluster of crocus and tulip stems popping up. Yipppppeeeeee!! I don't want to uncover any other plants just yet but my sage is still alive and my lavender too. I think the rosemary made it as well. That makes me sooo happy! This year, the herbs I brought inside are still alive as well. Usually, they die on me (Admission: I inadvertently kill them, it isn't their choice to die) but thyme, rosemary, and lemon balm are still growing. I am shocked by the lemon balm. All of the garden articles said that they will lose all of the leaves but to keep watering it even if it looks dead. Mine lost most of the leaves initially but about 50% of the plant has new growth.

Warning to you newbies: I will rattle on and on incessantly about my plants and the friends I make in my yard- the toads and snakes and squirrels. But this is good news because the more time I spent blabbering about that, the less time I have to complain about the weather, what I am cooking for dinner, or my state of mind LOL

I survived grocery shopping aside from the one older couple that I had to step around in every last aisle. If it was on my list, it had to be on theirs too. LOL But they were very sweet and we apologized for getting in each other's way. I had a big group at dinner last night, Sam and Tom were here which was a lot of fun even if there was no room on the table for all of the different things. It was just chicken nuggets (real and vegan) french fries, steamed broccoli, fresh carrots and broccoli, corn casserole (vegetarian but not vegan) plus all of the assorted dippers for the nuggets. We were squished around the table. The kids were going out to Trivia Night after dinner for the first time since everything happened in Sept and then on. They all used to go to Trivia Nights as a group with LL and Ian so I know it was a big step for Scott and Sam. I can't wait until Scott and Caitlyn wake up to see if they won. They used to do really good at Trivia so hopefully, they did again.

I have to catch up on laundry/strip my bed this morning, this afternoon, I am going on Stick Clean-Up in the yard.
And good news to share-- my mom made the appt with the pacemaker Dr-- she sees him next week. It is a *huge* step for her and I'm proud, relieved, and annoyed that it took her two years longer than it should have. But it is her body, her heart, her decision and I have to respect that. (even if I disagree *slaps tape over my mouth* )

That is about it! Enjoy the day!

@BrightEyes How was your sleep last night? That is my time to wake up, 3-3.30 am. Ugh. But why are you waking up in the wrong direction? Did you see that the Senate passed the Sunshine Protection Act? I hope it passes the House. Obviously, I prefer daylight longer in the evening rather than Standard Time but anything is better than switching back and forth. I can't wait for the days when I can head out without grabbing a coat, so happy that you can.
Did you get everything done that you needed to do? Maybe it will be good timing to switch everything over to the new computer when DD#3 is with you if you are;t able to be online at the same time?
It sounds like a very big project and I don't envy you at all. Good luck when you do it.

@taxed4ever Did you make it to the pool? Hope so and that it wasn't too crowded. I hope you slept better last night and if not, thank goodness for coffee!!! I miss our little coffee smilies. :D
Any idea of what is going on with Heather and the boys? Sure hope it isn't Covid. Caitlyn wasn't feeling good the other day and took a test just to be sure. She thinks it was just the change in seasons/allergies -- fingers crossed that is all it is for them too
Quilliam!! He was so cute!! @scrap-genie is Quilliam still at the library? Felis was obsessed with him :)

@Rachel Jefferies Whew, good to hear that you're feeling better. I am planning on trying your Mixed Media challenge one day soon.

@bcgal00 poor Remi! My dogs would always get bonkers when they saw suitcases since we usually took them to my parents' lakehouse with us. They would be glued to me as I would try to pack. That is so darn adorable that she wanted you to stay on the floor with her and got your pillow. SO smart!!
What is that book about?

@Cherylndesigns I do know how your brain works, the same way mine does. yes, it must have been such a good feeling to Sam's family, they had a special page in the Playbill too about him. Your Grandma sounds amazing. You get your good heart from her

@tanteva Love to hear that the sun is shining for you too-
Happy birthday!!! It has to be an odd feeling to be older than your older sister. It's not a feel-good milestone...
Good to hear you are feeling a tiny bit better. Hugs!

love to you all

Can't believe it... I slept in until 7:30AM with just a tiny awake few minutes at 4AM. Guess my body overruled my mind and said it needed more sleep... finally!!!! Must admit that I feel more rested this morning. Hope this means I am going back to a more normal sleep pattern. Oh... I really hope the Sunshine Protection Act passes and we can do away with time changes in the future. It is definitely time to quit messing around with time. hahahaha Couldn't resist! :p :D :)

Did a quick trip out yesterday - to mail some bills and saw that the local PO has finally put a new larger outside drive-up mail box in place. The old one has been missing for the past several weeks. Then over to Walmart to get a paper shredder. Saw it at the other MW but they don't have any in-person checkers and no check-writing so won't waste my time shopping there. Thank goodness the WM where my grandson works still has a few in-person checkers and I noticed that many customers prefer to use them. So glad to finally have a paper shredder again. It is a light-weight one - only shreds up to 6 sheets at a time - but I don't need a heavy duty one. In fact, I like that it also is light in weight so easier to lift the top off to empty the bin.

And, yes, I am still scrapping pages. Worked on one last evening but wasn't happy with part of it so need to take a fresh look this AM and make a few changes. It is an art journaling one so it is out of my comfort zone and takes longer to be satisfied with it.

@faerywings So glad to hear your Mom is finally going to see the pacemaker Dr. I know you have been worried about her over that. Bet you enjoyed having the crowd for dinner... never thought of using chicken nuggets as 'dippers'. ... and like the variety of dishes to go with them. Like hearing about the different foods that everyone fixes. Must admit that I miss cooking for a crowd (with just my family, spouses, kids, etc it was 15+). Just glad I don't have to do that on a regular biases every day, tho. Glad you are seeing some flowers sending up sprouts so you know that Spring is on the way.

@bcgal00 I was LOL over Remi trying to get you sitting down and play with him again! What a smart dog!! Glad to hear you are taking breaks from packing and taking the dogs for a walk. I was LOL over you leaving the garage for your DH to pack... I was the same way with DH and the garage. We packed ourselves for 2 cross-country moves and a couple in-town moves. At least you won't have the surprise of unpacking a box that movers had packed to find a trash can full of trash!! Yep... that happened to us.

@Rachel Jefferies So sorry to hear you aren't feel well. Hope you are better today.

@taxed4ever So glad you got your swim-laps done, know how much you miss it. I forget that it is Spring Break for most schools now that the great-grands no longer live in town. Sure do miss those girls. Your grands sure do have you busy with chat time. How wonderful that technology allows us to see/hear them they are far away! Hope the weather is good enough for you to do the hike today.

@tanteva HAPPY BIRHTDAY... hope you are feeling better today. Did you see a doctor yet??

BTW... did you know that you can get a 'false negative' with Covid tests if you take it on the day you start feeling bad... usually takes about 2- 3+ days before it might register positive (has to have enough antibodies in the system for it to show up). Health experts are saying to isolate as soon as you are feeling bad and wait a couple of days to take the test.

Well, the coffee cup is empty and I need to get busy working on LOs. Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning everyone the sky is blue and the sun is shining on the mountain tops!! It will be a good day for a hike! Glad this one is close by and I won't use too much gas to get there! I sadly did not make it to the pool yesterday, there was lots going on there with the kids all out for spring break. There were only a couple of lanes for lap swimming and it was busy. Thats ok I am retired and don't need to get there until it quiets down again. I did a lot of cleaning in my craft room and got rid of a few things that have been sitting in boxes for a few years. I gave them to my niece who works at a day care, she was very happy to have them. They were little crafty things that I just don't use anymore but would be fun for all of the kiddos at her day care. I still have lots of stuff for my grands to use. So I dropped those things off to my Sister and we had a nice visit! Made a delicious Beef Bouguignon for supper, but made it keto and served it on cauliflower rice. DH gave me two thumbs up and said it was a keeper!! I made it in my Instatpot so it was pretty quick and easy! I just love my instapot! I played around a bit with my new Wacom Intuit but still have not gotten a page made. Hopefully that will happen in the afternoon, or tomorrow. Looks like DH's new computer will arrive today, so I hope I am back from my hike before it comes, I hate to have it sitting on the front porch! Our neighbourhood is pretty good for keeping an eye on each other, but you never know.

@faerywings - Awww your countdown today is so cute!! Yes I could see that you would be in heaven with all those cute critters to hug! So glad to hear that you saw more spring growth and that you survived your grocery shopping! How nice that Scott had the big step to get out with friends and play Trivia! Hope that he and Cait won! I don't think that Heather and boys have Covid, just a bad cold that Hunter brought home from Pre-School. I hope that they are feeling much better today!

@Rachel Jefferies - I am also hoping to get to your challenge soon! Glad to hear that you are feeling much better!

@bcgal00 - Rae glad to hear that you got out with the dogs, hopefully the fresh air did you some good! Looks to be a nicer day today, so perhaps you can get out again today! The days are flying by and you will soon close the door on your old house for the last time. I bet it will be a day filled with mixed emotions! You are sure busy with the packing and discarding, but I know you will be all ready when the movers come! I will have to check out that book it sounds like a really good one!

@Cherylndesigns - Sounds like your Grandma was an amazing woman with a huge heart!! Guess that's where you get it from! How great that room darkening drapes have helped with your sleeping! I have those too, but mine are ready to be replaced.

@tanteva - Glad to hear you are feeling better! Nice that spring is arriving to you also! Happy Birthday to you, even if you do not celebrate it. It must be strange to be older than your big sister! I am sure you must be missing her very much!

@BrightEyes - We cross posted this morning. Sadly I did not get my laps in yesterday, but the weather is great for a hike today so that makes me happy! Yes our Walmart hardly has any in person cashiers either, seems so silly but then it is crazy how many people have not gone back to work, most businesses are screaming for employees. I don't understand it!

Well I better get my lunch packed for my hike and get ready to go. Have a great day everyone!

Hope eyeryone has a good day. It's already afternoon here and I need 2 cups of coffee or I'll fall asleep.

Since yesterday we have a "beautiful" sky, yellow-red or something in between and 64 F. The reason is a warm wind from the south with Saharan sand in its luggage. The red dust is everywhere and the wind will stay until Friday. I look forward to cleaning.

@faerywings - I can already see that older people behave the same everywhere. So I always go grocery shopping early in the morning.

@Rachel Jefferies - Hope you are better soon.

@tanteva - Happy birthday .. hope you are better soon

@BrightEyes - Enjoy your scrapping.

@taxed4ever - Enjoy your hiking. This is on our list for Saturday.

Good morning my lovelies,

Chris @faerywings, LOVE your countdown picture for today! I think spring has sprung here - I have plants coming up - my day lillies for one. I harvested mint and cilantro just a few weeks ago - it was still growing. We're getting our list of what we want to plant ready. The birds were singing their little hearts out this morning!

Thanks girls for the sweet words about Grandma - I started a page about her, but don't think I can do her justice on one page - it will have to be more than one. She was really something - I didn't appreciate it until I look back - she just always did good things - I guess I thought everybody did. LOL She was wicked smart too - was a terrific Bridge player. She did all kinds of things for the American Cancer Society, too. This month being to honor women, I really need to do something in her honor.

I'm going to try to check back in - I need to get organized for the house cleaner today. LOL

Talk later.

Good morning, we're heading out to the bank soon and dropping off more bins of recycling, it seems never ending. I brought over a big craft box to the girls next door yesterday. They were so excited to get some crafting supplies. I will miss them, they are so sweet. We are trying to eat what we can out of the freezers and fridge before we move and the rest is going to our neighbor. I hope to find a fridge/freezer fairly soon after moving b/c having just one is not enough for us.

I'd better go load up the truck so need to get off the computer. Have a good day everyone.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. It's been an ok day, but I've been feeling sad. People seem to think it's weird for being upset about turning 55. But it just feels so utterly unfair in a way. Why do some live to be 55 when others don't?

I guess grief come and go. I lost my sister years ago, this just brought it all back to me. Tomorrow I'll work all day, won't have time to just sit and think too much. Then it's friday again, and I will be in a better mood.

Did get one layout posted today and another one made as well. Cross all fingers (and every other body parts) please! I might be back to my normal healthy me. Hope I didn't just jinx it now & wake up with a fever again!

Here's an old layout I made about my sister

@BrightEyes Yay for sleeping in! I love the idea of the Sunshine Protection Act and hope we do that here as well one day ..

@faerywings I enjoy hearing about your herbs and your visiting creatures so please do 'rattle on' ;-)

@Cherylndesigns I am looking forward to seeing your final page (or maybe pages?!) about your grandma xxx

@tanteva So sorry about your sister. I hope you are feeling a bit less understandably sad today x

I had a good day yesterday. I've been putting off buying a new fridge-freezer until I (hopefully) sell my house because the current old one's freezer is hopeless and vegetables in the fridge last about a day. But then friends starting posting about their favourite quick dinners using stuff from the freezer and I just thought 'this is ridiculous, why am I waiting?' so I went shopping and bought a new one AND an air fryer. It wasn't expensive because the space in the apartment can only fit a small fridge anyway, but hopefully it will be much better. It's hard to get things here at the moment thanks to Covid and supply chains, but this morning the store messaged to say they had found one in stock and it's been delivered on the weekend. I was dancing around the house. Now I am excited about going to the supermarket and stocking up on frozens.

Funny what excites you when you are old!!

It's feeling very spring today. Yesterday I posted a think spring LO:

Chris @faerywings I've been afraid to ask about Quilliam as I'm sure he's no longer at the library. Your countdown image is so right for all of us!

Just got out of a Zoom meeting hard on the heels of a webinar, so need to get away from the screen for a bit.

A quick in and out - I think spring has definitely sprung - Chuck brought home 4 ferns for our front porch - woohoo!! We're only supposed to have one night below 40 - according to Farmer's Almanac - tomorrow night. If we need to bring them in, we will.

In the end, I decided to go with this page - dedicated to Lola - I used "An Army of One" by Crafty Button:

Good evening ladies. I am like the little hamster on the proverbial wheel I'm afraid. I think about each of you every day but I seem to be meeting myself going and coming. Billy Joel was absolutely amazing! He really brought it. And I got two pages done for my ABC book. He was absolutely worth two pages. I've been slacking in the Daily O's and I've been slacking in the gallery. I do much better starting my day off with all of you...it just sets the tone. So I'm setting my alarm 30 minutes earlier so that I can get in here tomorrow morning before my day starts! And that is 30 minutes earlier during the Spring Forward week when I am already short on sleep. LOL Now you know how much you mean to me!

Personals in the morning my O'Lovlies!
