Late today & stressed. We need to go grocery shopping for New Year's and I'm still in my pajamas. Thought I'd just start this thread, before I leave, and will be back later for personals. Slept late, and ended up staying in bed, finishing my book, and now it's almost noon. Want to get to the store, before the huge crowds get there. Urban is home from work today, but we need to go into Mora to work, to pick up some books that has arrived from another library today. Of course, they arrived today, when Urban isn't working, instead of yesterday, when he was working. Anyway, this gives us the chance to shop at a grocery store in Mora, that's bigger and cheaper than here in our own town.

Well, I'll be back later - only one personal note to @Susan - s3js Sorry, I lost it yesterday. It's a sensitive subject for me.

Now, I need to stress. Stress. Stresssssssss. TTYL

Good morning all. Got my friend picked up from the airport. We stopped at a Mexican restaurant on the way home so we could eat. Then brought home food for everyone else. Sat around and watched the Iowa State football game---another team from my home state and they were down at a Bowl Game in Orlando as well.

No one works today so I think that we will either head to Daytona or to St. Augustine. Adventure awaits for sure.

Back for personals for a quick few minutes. I'm the only one up right now. I woke up at 5:00 and decided I should get up if I wanted any time for myself.

@faerywings hoping that each day is a little better.

@BrightEyes there was about an inch of snow back in Iowa so my friend was really enjoying this gorgeous weather we are having. Iowa is also under a snow warning for the weekend so Jeonia thinks that she arrived at the exact right time. It was a long drive on the way down but it was a fast drive home as we talked and talked. Glad that you got out and about for a bit.

@tanteva glad that you got the chance to sleep in for a bit. Well deserved treat for sure and heading to the big grocery store is nice as well. Just don't go hungry...LOL I am so very glad that the meds that you take for your ADHD help you and are life changing for you.

@bcgal00 good morning Rae! Aren't dogs the most wonderful creatures? I really don't know how we would get along at our house without them. I am "dogless" at the moment. Hayden usually sleeps with Syd and Andie sleeps with us. Since Brian didn't get up, Andie just looked at me and went back to sleep. Definitely not a puppy nowadays. Much easier without the dog routine first thing in the morning. When Brian gets up, Andie will come down...probably Hayden will hear and want to come too....and then Brian will handle all of the early morning dog chores and I will just get the cuddles.

@Cherylndesigns hope you had a nap yesterday. ;) And can start getting back into your normal routine. Family always comes first!

@mom2triplets04 we did Hello Fresh meal delivery for awhile during the pandemic and there were always fresh vegetables during the meal. Sydney has become pretty good at including fresh veggies when she cooks. And good to have some accountability partners in your group to read the Bible in a year. I LOVE breakfast for supper but my husband has never been that impressed with it. So it's rare that I do it. He does love it for breakfast however.

@Susan - s3js I am so glad that Justin has found what works for him. It is so difficult as a mom to have a child going through something like that and trying to figure out how to help. I just checked out the Bible journaling site. I am going to look into that more closely. Would have loved her December class on the 31 days of names of Jesus.

@tjscraps I'm sure that you were exhausted emotionally after yesterday. You have some great photos to honor your dad.

Good morning, everyone!
We made it through another day. Scott was with Cait and me and the new babies and had to count on his fingers how many days he has gotten through and he was pretty impressed with himself *winks*
More and more people have reached out to him and he is overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support. In fact, a woman he went to college with has a job offer for him. It would be doing something environmental science/ecologically based at the Great Swamp in NJ. The only downside that he sees is the commute down would be about an hour, without traffic. One accident on the highway and that goes out the window. He asked for some time to think and decide, he knows that he shouldn't make an impulsive decision right now. (His maturity is above and beyond, no way would I be able to think like that if I were him) She is going to contact him in a week and see what he thinks then. How ironic would it be if he gets a career-level job out of this mess?

The babies have names! Meet:

@tanteva Give Urban a hug from me, means a lot that he would say that about Scott. :) It always takes me by surprise when I realize that not everyone has a family like mine, how I wish everyone did. It makes me so grateful. I can't wrap my head around that- your mom blamed *you,* not the cheater?
I hope that the trip to Mora goes well, and that you are able to get what you need from the grocery store.

@Susan - s3js Transcend is a great word!

@LSlycord Your walks in the morning are such a great way to start the day. Good bonding time with everyone, plus Andie. have a wonderful visit with your friend!

@BrightEyes Good for you for decluttering some books. I have to clear out some books and old cookbooks too. I don't think I have any pics of Cait with the backward hoodie, I will try to get one of her like that soon.
So strange, I tried the coloring books for adults on paper, not tablet- but they made me want to stab the pencils through my eyes. Eva- more power to you begin able to do that and have it help the stress. I have been playing a lot of puzzles online. JigsawPlanet.com is the go-to
It was nice/almost normal yesterday with the three of us playing with the babies, he gets such a kick out of the rats.

@bcgal00 The photos of Remi in the snow are freaking adorable!! <3

@Cherylndesigns Sending you huge hugs while you miss your babies and g-babies. Is Ava around come and cause a ruckus so the house isn't too quiet? Not sure why Ava was the first one to come to mind for a ruckus... ;)
Did you end up taking a nap at all?

@mom2triplets04 I liked the idea of having a shiny sink but it was so impractical for me. Having triplets-- I can see what that was *impossible.*
It seems like everyone I know has COVID. Sounds awful, but I am glad that I am practically a hermit *G* Hope that you and the kids stay safe and healthy, any updates on how your DD is feeling?
Breakfast for dinner is THE BEST!!! How was the french toast recipe? Please share if you want.
I am the same way, if I don't write it down, it doesn't get done. I love my planner and to-do lists.

@Susan - s3js thank you for sharing the info about ADD and your son. My kids were born with Lyme disease and it caused a lot of behavioral and cognitive issues for him. Meds sometimes make things better for him, sometimes worse. Once he gets this current situation under control, he is looking for both a therapist and a psychiatrist and has enlisted some friends for help and guidance.

@tjscraps Sending BIG hugs to you and your family. Even though time has passed, it still had to be an emotional day. What a great family remembrance for your dad.
Fireball was a special drink to him? Or was it to keep you warm? You all look frozen!
Give me 90* over 30*F any day!

xoxo

Morning, gals. I posted my annual letter to my hubby on FB this morning. It is a way of looking back over this year - both good and bad. I go back and reread the ones from earlier years... helps me to realize how far I have come since he died. Will be so glad to put 2021 in the past and am hoping that 2022 will be better for all of us.

@faerywings The rat babies are so cute... but they are larger than I thought they would be. What fun names for them. Glad Scott received a job offer... he is wise to take a bit of time to decide if he will take it considering the time involved to drive there every day.
@BrightEyes Good for you for decluttering some books. I have to clear out some books and old cookbooks too. I don't think I have any pics of Cait with the backward hoodie, I will try to get one of her like that soon.

LOL... I tried the coloring books on paper and often would mess up on them... Decided I would much rather digi-scrap than color!!! I am a 'color outside the lines' type of gal!! :D Haven't done a jigsaw puzzle in years. DH and I used to do them but once his double-vision happened he couldn't do them.

@tanteva I like that you took a lazy morning and read for awhile. Too bad that the books didn't come while Urban was at work... but glad he is off to take you to the bigger store so you can shop.

@mom2triplets04 - I remember those days when the kids were teens and seems like the sink was never empty! Oh, I love breakfast for dinner... and the French toast sounds so yummy!

@Susan - s3js - Had a dear friend whose son had ADA and she had him on coffee to help. They lived right across from the school so he had permission to go home 3 times during the day to have his coffee. What a difference it made for him!

@tjscraps What an emotional day that must have been saying goodbye to your dad even though it has been awhile since he passed. Saw the photos of the family - so glad that most could be there for the internment of his ashes. <<< hugs >>>

@Cherylndesigns Hope you got a chance to take a nap. I am sure the house feels empty now that they have left. I am with Chris thinking that Ava would be the one to come in and stirs things up! :D

The sun is shining in bright blue skies but know it won't last long... another cold front with rain/snow will be moving in later on. Going to be bad weather for both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Travel warnings are out for both days. I am going to hibernating.

Coffee cup is empty... CYL

Good morning ladies. We got another dump of snow last night, this should be the last of it other than an inch here or there over the next few weeks. It's going to warm up to just below freezing so hopefully that will help the hummingbirds. We only have one coming to feed so I hope the other regulars are ok, just somewhere keeping warm. We haven't seen the smaller ones in a few days which makes me sad but nothing I can do about it.

Remi is absolutely thrilled with the new snowfall. She has been leaping, sliding and burying her head into the snow. She would stay out all day if I let her. I have to coax her back in with cookies and even that takes some time.

Jen is feeling ok, her second covid test was negative so it looks like it was a flu bug she had. We're taking the dogs out at lunchtime to play together.

@faerywings The job offer must make Scott feel good, even if he ends up not taking it. The little rat pics are so cute and the names made me laugh.

@BrightEyes How special that you write the letter each year.

@LSlycord Enjoy the adventure today!

@tanteva Hope you get all the shopping done today.

I'm getting another coffee and getting to work so I can get lots done before Jen comes over at lunchtime to pick me up. Have a good day everyone.

I don't know what it is ... I'm super stressed today. No plans ... til January 13 when John has a dental appointment, and Jan 20th when I'm back at work. Absolute ZERO to stress about, but I just feel it ... ticking inside me. I just hope it's not a premonition of some sort. I'm pretend psychic at times. ;)

Shopping went well. If you don't count that I, in the car half-way home, remembered that we've forgotten to buy some vegetarian "meat" for our dinner tomorrow ... so we ended up having to stop at the store here in town as well. LOL I'm such an idiot at times.

New Year's dinner will be meat for John/vegetarian "meat" for me and Urban + "Hasselbackspotatis" + a creamy sauce with lots of pepper & a dash of blackcurrant. Dessert will be the traditional "fultårta" that I've done every New Year's since John was a kid.

Fultårta literally means "ugly cake", but sometimes ful is used in a sense like "fake". E.g. if you buy store brand cola instead of Coca-Cola, you've bougt Ful-Cola ... i.e. not the real thing :) Hence, a fultårta is what I call it when you make a cake from store bought stuff, instead of baking and making it yourself. It's the best cake really, I love it. I usually have sponge cake, then add mashed banana, and chocolate mousse (made from powder) in between the layers. Whipped cream and then decorated. Preferably ugly. LOL You can see last years cake (The ugly one with 2021 written on it) on the letter I made for my pen pals here:

And Hasselbackspotatis is an old Swedish recipe. Here:
It's the best way ever to prepare potatoes!

Anyway ... I'm skipping personals today. I need to get some meditation done, and relax. It's almost 6 pm here already, and it feels I've done nothing today. Need to get at least something done.

@faerywings Mårten says the new rats look delicious ;)

Good late morning ladies!! I am in my way too quiet house all by myself and I am sad!! I miss the hustle and bustle of early morning with the kids and grands. Getting everyone some breakfast and having long conversation over the morning meal!! Everyone left yesterday afternoon and we decided the other day that it would be best if I take them as far as the Nanaimo Airport where they could rent a car and drive the rest of the way to Comox, the roads were not the best and they did not want me making that long trip back by myself. They had lots of running around to do in Comox anyway, so it would have put me back on the road to go home quite late in the day. It turned out that they got so much snow in Comox last night that they had to get pushed out of the parking lot of the hotel that they stayed at. Their flight was very early in the morning, but they made it on time and are now in the air on their way back to Ottawa. DH is at work and had to take my CRV as his truck is not 4 wheel drive and is the pitts in the snow. It is a winter wonderland out there today and all the kids in the neighbourhood are tobogganing down the hill until the snow plow gets to our street. DH got to use his snowblower early this morning to get our driveway done and so all that is left to do is to get the stairs cleared off so no one slips and falls on them. I have lots of catching up to do here this morning, so I will get busy with that and then come back in a bit for personals. Month end things to do here at the O and then my day is pretty uneventful except for the 4 bathrooms that all need to be cleaned UGH!! So will come back in a bit. TTYL!

@LSlycord Unless it has changed, you can join any of Robin's classes at any time.

@tanteva We have peppermint mocha coffee creamer but you can make mocha peppermint coffee yourself. Cream or half-and-half, 1/2-1 teaspoon cocoa powder, a couple drops peppermint flavoring or a small pump pf peppermint coffee syrup, sweeten to taste. You will just need to play with the amounts until you get the taste you like. Yummy!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. A super emotional day for sure. Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts.

Today it's 11 AM and I'm spent the day putting away Christmas. Everything is down and boxed up, just need to get it back into the garage and on the shelves where it's stored 11 months of the year lol I love the first few days when it's up, and the first few days after it's down. Also need to shovel the driveway - it snowed, again. We are still under an Extreme Cold warning until Saturday so will have to bundle up tight. My sister is still here, she leaves on Saturday but my nephew went home today - first time crossing the border on his own (he's 18). I don't know that we will see them today - sometimes all the visiting just drains you.

@tanteva Sorry you're feeling stressed today, I hope the feeling goes away soon!

@LSlycord - 5 AM is early! Hope you have a good (albeit long) day!

@faerywings The rats are cute (Not a sentence I ever though I'd utter...) Question I'm dying to know - what do they do for the bathroom? Like once they're no longer babies, would they do their business in their cage, or ???

Fireball is a drink my dad always gave to company, he loved it, so we did a drink to toast him (as we did during his funeral service in 2019).

@bcgal00 Love that your dogs love the snow so much, you probably don't get it too often where you are?

@taxed4ever Stay warm (and safe!)

It was a late start this morning. Actually I got up early. Read some of my book Coffee Self-talk. Took a shower and then at 11 took care of Myla. It was going good until she bit my daughter. So now she's caged for a time out.

Anyway - here is the recipe I made last night It was really good. Served it with syrup. I didn't have swiss cheese couldn't find it so I just made it with mozzarella.

Tonight instant pot garlic chicken and spinache mozarella egg . New recipes. Hope it comes out good.

My kids are home today so tonight we will do movie night. My husband picks out the movie. Last week we watched 8 bit Christmas it was pretty good. Normally he picks out science fiction or action. So it was strange he picked a holiday movie.

Finishing Dexter S9. I'm up to E5.

@mom2triplets04 Is S9 as good as the earlier years of Dexter? Sure hope so. We are halfway thru S8 and can't wait to start watching s9.

@tjscraps We never get snow like this. We got another 6" last night. We usually get an inch or two a few times each winter but its wet snow that melts fairly quickly b/c of the temps warming up and all the rain we get. Having dry snow and cold temps like this is unheard of, definitely not in the 30 yrs or so I can remember.

@Cherylndesigns Sending you huge hugs while you miss your babies and g-babies. Is Ava around come and cause a ruckus so the house isn't too quiet? Not sure why Ava was the first one to come to mind for a ruckus... ;)
Did you end up taking a nap at all?

Chris @faerywings LOL - because Ava is the biggest ruckus raiser. LOL She'll love this when I tell her. She feels like she knows all of you girls. I did take a 2 hour nap yesterday - so rare for me. I actually went to sleep! I'm very down today, but Steph, Asher and I FaceTimed for over an hour after they got home yesterday evening. LOL We all said "long time, no see". The house is VERY quiet! Adrienne and Lila came down for about an hour, so that helped some. I'm really working on them to move out here. Asher LOVES it here and his Dad is from MO and he's coming back out next week. His dad is very ill and he (Brandon) was talking about all of them moving, but we shall see. Steph won't take Asher away from his dad, so I'm hoping they'll all be moving at least there. He definitely said Asher could come out and spend as much time as he wanted to - this coming summer! They can put him on a non-stop flight and we'll pick him up. We're looking forward to that!!

Laura @mom2triplets04 you're killing me, girl, with the food pictures. Now I need to go eat!! They look amazing.

Trudy @taxed4ever I'm glad I'm not the only sad one over the quiet house. Today was so weird to wake up to an empty house.
I don't have the energy to answer all of your sweet comments, but love ya all!! Sending hugs!

PS Chris @faerywings the babies are SOOOOOOO adorable and I love their names!!!
