Oh, don't mind me down here on the floor, I am absolutely 110% Fine.

Really, I am fine-- I am just a little bit concerned that it is May 15.
Teeny tiny bit concerned.
As in trying to not freak out completely! haha!

I am behind on just about everything. More than usual. Don't wanna do any of it either :D

The Mother's Day Brunch was perfect. *chef's kiss* I had made so much food and was too full to eat anything for dinner other than a small salad.
I didn't get to tell you about the coffee cake I made on Saturday. *G* It was a vegan coffee cake and only made an 8x8 pan so I doubled the recipe. Can't go wrong with coffee cake, right? Uh-huh... I haven't done much vegan baking so I followed the doubled measurements exactly and put everything in a large casserole baker. Half of the batter went in first, then topped with the cinnamon/brown sugar layer. I am eyeballing it, the pan is about 2/3 full. Not much I can do about it now, so I do the second layer of batter, then the streusel. Whew, everything fit!
Into the oven it goes and that bad boy is heavy.
Cait comes into the kitchen and says that it smells incredible, peeks into the oven, and the darn cake is practically *exploding.* All over my brand-new oven. I grab a cookie sheet and place that on the rack underneath. The cake is lava-ing itself over the sides. I have to put a new cookie sheet in since the goop on the first one is starting to burn. My kitchen-- nice and shiny and clean just a few hours prior-- is a disaster area. Not a spot of counter or sink is free. I had to open the window since the burning goop was smoking. My friend had texted to see if I wanted to go for a walk and had to take a raincheck since I didn't have any idea how long this monster of a coffee cake was going to take to cook. (NB: Even if it wasn't cooked all the way through, I wasn't going to kill anyone with salmonella- no eggs :giggle4: ) In between watching the cake and washing the dishes and remopping the floor, I am trying to make cards for the moms and set the table for the bunch. Scott called me to confirm that he was definitely able to take a break at 11 am so I had to add a chair, and redo the table.

When I said this yesterday:
Gotta run, so much to do -- no matter how well I try to plan and prep it never turns out good enough LOL!!
That is what I meant.

:rotfl:

The cake, BTW, was delish!!!!! No one could believe it was vegan. My parents brought me a flat of inpatients and my ILs got me gazanias. I never heard of them before but they open and close in the sun and shade. They are on my greenhouse shelf right now but I am worried about putting them in the ground just yet. It's supposed to be 37*F Wed night and I'd hate for them to die. The packs that my ILs got are multi-colored: white, yellow, orange, and pink. I peeked at them this morning and they are all closed up tight.

I was right about the rabbit den too. Gary and I were outside looking at some of what I have been up to in the yard. I pointed out where I had seen the fluff, sure enough, there were bunny eyes looking back at me. ♥

Today- sheesh. I have so much to do. The house itself is pretty much back to normal but all of the other stuff that I let slide over the last few days is piling up. The weather is wonderful and I am going to have to be firm with myself that I must get the stuff done before I go outside. Must.
(But I really don't want to)
Caitlyn starts her summer hours today- she works longer days so she has off on Fridays. Gary's insulin pump has a *big* upgrade today. He has to request the upgrade then it is sent to his endo's office for approval. If the upgrade gets approved, it will mean no more calibrations/finger sticks. The glucose sensor is going to be so much better/advanced than the one he has now. Please send good thoughts that it goes smoothly and quickly for him.
To think that when we first met, he was doing three-four injections of three different kinds of insulin daily- and now it will be practically autonomous. So cool. And hopefully, better blood sugar control will keep his complications at a minimum.

How was everyone's weekend and mother's day? I hope that you all had a wonderful time!
:grouphugyay:

Does collapsing on the sofa at the end of the day count? hahaha!

Scott had his first town search and rescue drill on Saturday night. He had already drilled with the state once but will be working more regularly with the town. They want to train him to be a lead medic since he has so much 1st responder training. He was a little worried and doesn't feel ready but figured the drills are a good way to practice. If they actually have a S&R situation, he says it will be a more cooperative effort but is happy that they are giving him the training. He went to another Wildlife First Aid class on his days off last week - her already has his certification for that but went as a refresher. He figures that the more muscle memory he has the better it will kick in in a real-life circumstance. Man, I am so proud of him.

@LSlycord What a wonderful way to celebrate- Facetime with Syd and then brunch, and then topping it off to see the new house. How exciting!
That seems smart to me to rent a storage space, even if only to give yourself some breathing room to decide what you want to do with everything. The less stress you have now, the better you will be. I saw the photo of the stuffed bears on FB, sounds *exactly* like my guys LOL
Linda-- I remember your trip to Europe last year and how well Syd planned everything (was that last year? 2 years?? Time is just loco!). She is very detail-oriented. Guess if she ever wants to change her profession, she would do great as a travel agent or wedding planner :p

@vickyday That is how I see motherhood: women nurture- people, animals, whatever. Even as artists, we breathe life into our work.
WOW!!!!! What a surprise!!!! :heartpumppink: Mark kept that secret better than anyone! I can't imagine how blessed you felt having the girls with you. I love it! Make sure you share the LOs here so I don't miss them, please!

@Cherylndesigns Your day sounds fabulous and perfect for you too. Of course, Ava had it down pat even with the AC wrench tossed in. Happy for you that you go a bunch of plants and herbs. Your porch and yard must be almost done by now?
Love the journal! Are you going to use it for writing or junk journaling?
Aly must be so happy to be around you and your family. You have such a big heart, and so does everyone on the CiCi compound. ♥

@bcgal00 Hope that you and Jen had a nice. low-key time together. Give her a big hug from me, I'm sure it was a very rough day for her xo

Good Monday Morning ladies... I was sure MIA all weekend long! I hope that you all had a lovely Mother's Day! I am stiff and sore from so much yard work, but we got everything accomplished that we set out to do and more! MIL and FIL's place looks all spify and weed free. I had the job of planting all of the alyssum along the edge of her dahlia garden, while SIL's Sharon and Linda planted the Dahlias of course everything has to be absolutely perfect, so MIL was out there making sure we did it all right LOL. Then I planted all of her geraniums in five big pots that she has on the front deck. SIL's still planting Dahila's LOL. After that I got her hosta's that are all in pots along the edge of the huge shop that is on the property weeded, why anyone has over 30 pots of Hosta is beyond me and they all were full of weeds. The guys got the power washing all done and all of the chairs and tables cleaned off and put down by the firepit. Whew time for a break and then back at it again until all of the other little jobs were done. We finally called it a day at around 2:30 we started at 9am. Had a late lunch and a couple of glasses of wine and we all headed home for a soak in a hot bath! Yesterday we worked most of the day in our own yards and gardens. Forgot to mention that the temps were HOT!! 35/36 C so that is approx. 95/97 F. Here I am planting the Alyssum. notice the plum line LOL.Planting.jpgMIL loved all of her Mother's Day gifts! I had a nice day on Sunday spending time talking with our son who is in Vienna for work and talking with Heather and the boys. Everyone is excited to be coming home in August! Today I hope to get a page finished that I started on Friday and get caught up here at the O with some behind the scene stuff! Already the middle of the Month and I am terribly far behind with things!

@faerywings - Sounds like your get together was success despite your volcano of a coffee cake LOL. Hope that Scotts training goes well and how nice that he was able to join you on Mother's Day! That is great news that your Gary will be getting an upgrade it will be so much more convenient for him! Sending all my good thoughts that it gets approved very quickly!! :loveangel:

Ok I gotta run and get a few things done this morning, then I can hopefully finally open my photoshop and do some scrapping! Have a great day everyone! :waving1

Good morning ladies. Enjoyed the movie and popcorn last night with Jen. The dogs cried when we left. They are still a bit insecure about us leaving them at the house when we go out. A few more short outings and they will get used to us coming and going again. I still don't have my energy back. I get winded just playing outside with Remi for 10 min. I had an hour nap yesterday to make sure I made it through the movie. The theater had maybe 15 people in it. Kamloops sure never gets busy anywhere LOL. I don't know how they keep a theater operating that never seems to be busy. The parking lot only had maybe 20 cars total, which may include staff, so that sure is not a lot for 7 theaters.

Today I'll putter around the house and take it easy. My energy is slow coming back so I'm not going to push myself.

@faerywings That sucks about the exploding cake but glad it tastes good.

@taxed4ever Sounds like a busy but enjoyable wkend.

I'm heading upstairs to get dressed and do some laundry before lying down for a few hours to rest in bed, maybe watch a movie.

HAGD everyone!

Good morning. Just barely. I love that siggie @taxed4ever. And you will all have such a good time in August when everyone is home. That would have been really hot doing all of that gardening. Are your in-laws putting the house back on the market or living in it for awhile.

@faerywings it sounds like yesterday turned out great. Collapsing on the sofa is the very best MMM in my book! Yay for Cait...summer hours are the best!

@vickyday how are your friends? Have you been playing games lately?

@bcgal00 whatever you had really hit you hard didn't it?!! Hope by the end of the week, you are feeling better.

@Cherylndesigns I'm looking for a landscaper for the new place. The fence guy will be there on 5/30 (we move on 5/26) and then it will be time to get some landscaping in. You know...real landscaping and not the builder stuff. LOL

Got to get back to work. But really miss you guys and need a chance to say hello!

Good afternoon. Sounds like you all had a nice day yesterday. Chris @faerywings I'm so happy that your exploding cake turned out to be so yummy. I can imagine your fears about lava exploding all over your new oven. SO happy it was good. Love the beautiful flowers you got - those will be beautiful in your yard. Trudy @taxed4ever love that picture of you planting the flowers. You sure were busy and I'm happy that your brunch went so well. You deserved the big soak and a couple of glasses of wine.

The kids brought everything in and set it up on our kitchen bar and wouldn't let me come out until it was all set up. Braden got a kick out of helping Ava, too. Here's a picture of their beautiful display. Of course, we had mimosas and Ava had two different orange juices in beautiful containers.

Have a good day. MMM: rest up from this fun, but very busy wekend.
XOXO and waving to all. :waving1:waving1

Haven't seen them yet this week. They are doing fine! Thanks for asking! We will probably get together tomorrow! We were together all day last Tuesday.....widows' meeting and then games back at Ilene's house and then supper out before going home. Mark is so great about my spending time with them!
