Back really quick for personals:

Kinda going backwards from yesterday, so if I seem all over the place, that is why!

Andrea/Nyx: Hi and welcome to the o's!!

Clara: How are you with sugar substitutes? With Gary's diabetes and us supposed to be on a low carb, I have done pretty good with some substitutes. I use Splenda for baking, stevia in my tea. We also use agave nectar instead of honey. The kids Lyme dr said that aspertame is a no-no (even tho Gary only drinks diet soda) but that Splenda was ok.
You have a great goal tho- cruising!! yay!!!!
And how cool is that truth class? Glad you had fun, I would have loved soemthing liek that when I was a kid. (probably would have gotten kicked out at some point. Did I ever tell y'all the story how I almost didn't make my 1st Communion b/c I asked the priest what was so important about memorizing words to prayers, wasn't it better if you used your own words....)

AndreaB- Good for you-- new start- getting organized and all that. I want to do that too.

Oooh! I see it was C-man's birthday!! Happy birthday Dude!!!! ((((((((hugs)))))) Hope your Nana didn't spoil you too much. *cough, gasp laugh*

Hi LaurieW and Soco!!!

Kat- Love the new avi! So cute!!!

Yam- the wii fit is fun and it works, 8if* you use it. I go on those sprees where I use it eery day. Thenit sits... for months, and I don't touch it.
For my b-day in June my mom got me the EA Sports Active (something like that) one, and I used it once :(
I also have a treadmill. An ancient one LOL and its the same thing, whenI use it I love it, but it tends to be a clothes rack more often than not :(

Good morning all - a quick drop in to say hi on my way to work- I'll be back to catch up and be more specific when I am done with work. For now- great days for those of us returning to work or our "normal" routines.

I also use maple syrup as a sugar sub, works great. I have a fantastic recipe for choc truffle type things. I did a 'brand x' layout... I'll do one with O stuff & post it, it's the yummiest treat EVER!

Good Monday to you my lovely O's. It's cold here again :) Going to be below zero every night for the foreseeable future :(
We have a new network at school - it's glacially slow - what a coincidence! Hope our resident geek gets that fixed very soon!
Have a wonderful day back from vacation - everyone but Ona - you just have a plain wonderful day.

always chatty at the O!!
Hey ladies! I'm gonna be kinda quick and do some personals. I'm sleepy. Little ones kicked my butt last night. No one wanted to go to bed. What the heck?? I was exhausted. Poor Ethan had a total meltdown saying he wasn't ready to go back to school because he hadn't finished his homework and he just wasn't ready to go back to school today. Not quite sure what exactly what was going on but he seemed to have a weird case of the nerves. He went to school though. Both him and Addie woke up in the middle of the night and neither of them wanted to go to sleep last night. Hopefully tonight goes a little easier. We'll see.

Today I had a doctor's appointment and had some blood work done to have things checked out about my sleepiness. So we'll see how all of that comes back. Hopefully I just need to catch up on some sleep and will be just fine and I am not having a recurrance of Epstein Barr Virus. We'll see soon. My husband has actually been really awesome and has been trying really hard to help out with things around the house like laundry and stuff which has been great. And most important when I go to bed he lets me. Yay!!

So, how about some love for you guys. I have missed you guys so much and feel like I haved loved on you nearly enough lately.

Chris - I hope your first day back to normalcy went okay. Blah!! Did you channel Sally okay? From the sounds of it you may have stolen all of her energy. LOL!! I do use sugar substitutes, although like you do try and stay away from aspartame when I can, although it isn't always possible 100% of the time for me. Agave nectar sounds interesting though. I'll look into that. The truth class was interesting. It is a Christian based class, and is geared to prepare Christian kids to have ammo when challenged in junior high and high school against other religions so that they can have educated theological conversations with their peers and teachers and also be able to compare their own beliefs with things like world religions like buddism and hinduism, but also similar religions like Jeh. Wit.'s and Mormonism and even cults and things like people who believe in science as a religion. It is very interesting. That is really funny about you almost getting kicked of your first communion. Sounds like something I would have done.

Laurie - I hope you had a great day back at work. Back to normal came way too soon didn't it? Blah!!

Andrea - Maple Syrup is a great flavoring. I have used it on ribs before and it is awesome. Definately share the recipe. No need to redo the recipe unless you really want to. Oscraps is an open forum so you don't have to post oscraps products here. Of course they love it when you do and challenges need to be certain percentages O products but feel free to share all of your LOs here. Make the O your home.

Yam - I was grumpy about going back to work too. you are so not alone. :)

LindaP - Sorry it is so cold there. It is just rainy and dark here. Being so far north the days are so short right now. Ugh! I hope your tech support people got your internet to a decent working speed. That would make me crazy.

LindaW - sending warm thoughts to your dh. I can't imagine being in the cold like that. Yuck. I didn't get a chance to wish C a Happy Birthday. I hope he got all the spoiling you could manage.

Sally - dang girl! Get your butt healthy!! We can't both be sickly. The world just seems energyless without our healthy selves. Haha!! Plus you not loving Monday...Wow!! Sending healthy thoughts your way.

Evening every one- I actually had energy when I got home, which was my goal- the trash is at the bottom of the driveway and I plan on using the snow blower in the morning if I need to. I like weekend snow better because dh is home to clear the drive!

Chris- how is the no sugar going- I must say I always feel better when I can curtail it.

Andrea- I love maple syrup- used it to make cranberry sauce- just wish it was less $$

Yam- hope your back feels better soon

LindaP- slow internet- yuck

Sally- hope you get feeling well soon

Clara- hope the kids sleep better tonight- I can so relate to Ethan- just before I walked out of the bathroom I had this bizarre thought that when I walked into work they would fire me- so silly- dh says I talked lots in my sleep last night and I know I was awake from 2- 2:30- bet I sleep better tonight!

Good evening my O family!!!!

Okay....I am not one for resolutions...but I made one this year....I am taking control of my house again!!!!! I am tired of calling myself cleaning it out and decluttering...I am actually doing it and keeping it that way!!! Part of my problem has been the open/revolving door policy with our kids...moving in and out....they are all gone...and I am thinking all for good this time...So......we are getting rid of all the junk!!! and putting things back in good order again!!! We got a start this past weekend...we hauled off 2 car loads of stuff...threw out tons of stuff..and I have two piles to take care of this week...one to put on craigs list to sell, and the other to take to Traci...as she needs some things for her new place!! I already feel better in my own house!!! Room by Room....it will all be done!!!

Today....babies kept me hopping..well Savannah anyway...I love that baby...you know I do...but she is my little fuss box!!! She MUST have attention all the time....We talked today, Savannah and I...LOL....I talked she gurgled.....but I told her that fussing was going to be a way of life for her if she did not learn to occupy herself a bit of the time!!...she smiled and giggled...as if she were saying "yeah right Nana"....oh well!!

I really need opinions....

Step DD and family were in for Christmas....spent one night here and left a BUNCH of stuff...this happens every time...and I always have to ship it back to her at our expense....I am getting really tired of it!!! This time was the worst...shoes, phone charger, sunglasses, movie and hair gel....she has called me twice saying she really needs these things...especially the phone charger....DH and I both agreed it should not be our responsibility to pay for their inability to keep up with their personal items and get them all before they leave!! He says it will cost us about $15-$20 to send this stuff....it usually runs around $10. If it did not happen every time it would be no big deal. What you guys do????

Okay..some love:

Chris....I hope you had a great day!! and loved your WWSD!!! and YES YES YES...spoiled the you know what out of him!!!!!!!!!!!

Laurie...I hope your day at work was a good one!!!

Andrea/Nyx (we have another Andrea...like me being LindaW..we have three Lindas) ....will love to see your page on the recipe!! Sounds yummy...so glad you have joined in our craziness!!

LindaP...try to stay warm!!! I know how you are feeling!! and hope they were able to speed up your internet!!

((((((HUGS)))))))) Sally...I hope you feel better soon!! and I hear ya on those exclamations...they always help me!!!!!!!

Clara...Yay for Derek...stepping up and helping our Clarabear out!!! Tell him Nana is proud of him!!! wonder what is up with the kiddos!!! I hope all turns out well with the bloodwork!! Keep us informed...I worry about you!! Your truth class sounds very interesting!! DH appreciates those warm thoughts!!!

Yam...so sorry your back is hurting!!! (((HUGS))) hope it feels better soon!!

Okay.. you ladies have a great evening!!!

Say Linda W- does the post office still do COD? or find out the cost to mail and let them know, then if they don't want to pay they can go out and replace the items. Or (lots of thoughts tonight) mail it this time and when they get ready to leave next time- ask them for $20 to cover the cost of mailing stuff back to them-or tell them for your birthday you want stamps!

a bit wordy lol

ok, so I'm going to tell you guys about my fabulous day.

1st off, I have to tell you a bit about me. for more than 3 years, I've had daily nausea. Started when I was pregnant with DD... which I expected b/c I had 9 months of nausea when I was pregnant with DS. However, unlike DS, when I delivered DD, the nausea continued. Some days it got so bad I'd have to lie on the couch all day, other days it's bearable. A year and a half ago, I started taking Gravol. Basically just to cope & get me through the day. I didn't take away all the nausea, but enough to make it through each day. Maybe after taking it for 6 months, I started having terrible side effects. Dizziness, terrible mood swings and so on. I did some research on the internet and realized that my body had become addicted and so Christmas of 2008 I weaned myself off. At 1st, the nausea came back with a vengeance but then slowly got better. Not completely better, but to the point it's at now. It's constantly there but mild enough that I can sorta ignore it.

I've been looking for answers for a year now. I've seen doctor after doctor after doctor only to be told nothing is wrong & just 'deal with it'. I see an ear specialist for ear problems in my left ear. I've had a couple of surgeries and as a result I have mild vertigo which also contributes to the nausea, but not 100%. That one comes and goes and I can tell the difference.

Last January I went to a walk in clinic... I just wanted a doctor to listen to me. To my amazement, she DID listen to me. only one problem, she's a walk in doctor and doesn't have her own patients. She runs a battery of tests which of course come back all negative and she tells me I have to see my regular doctor because she's just a walk in doc. 3 months ago I saw my regular doctor to ask for a referral to a GI specialist for my IBS (& my Mom has crohns). I had to FIGHT for the referral. I've been nauseous for more than THREE years and he makes me fight for a referral? comon. He even goes so far as to tell me he's sure I'll be fine the next time he sees me (as he says everytime I visit him). I decide that i'm done with it so I pop over to the walk in clinic to get a copy of my test results. The doc happens to be there & I ask if she's accepting patients yet. She says she is and that I have to go through a 'application process through this Health Care Connect' thing. She says she'd be happy to take me on as a patient to get me feeling better. So I take the number home but I sit on it for a while. In order to apply to be her patient, I first have to drop my general doctor. Which would be totally fine if I had a 100% guarantee to get the new doc, but they tell me they can't promise. So I wait. Then beginning of december, I take the plunge. I call, cancel my 'old doc' (he's actually retiring soon anyway) and apply for the new one. When I talk to them they tell me to tall the new doc to let them know I'm requesting. So I do... they make an appt for today... Jan 4th.

FF to today. man, I'm *thrilled* about my day. I'll spare you the who I drove where and when & tell you about the appts I had today.

1st, I met with the 'new' (walk in clinic) doc. She was *fantastic*. She remembered me, remembered stuff about me and was *happy* to see me. She told me she was really happy that I was her patient now and that we would get me better. She was happy that I had the GI specialist appt. Then she set me up for my *annual* appt. my other doc only saw me every 2 years. She's also sending me for my 35 year blood tests (I'm 38, my other doc never said anything about any tests after I turned 35). she also told me we'd be doing paps yearly (my other doc does them every 2nd years). I told her my Mom gets breast cysts, so she said that we'd start mammograms at 40 instead of 50 like my other doc said (even though he knew about my Moms cysts).

OMG, she CARES. she CARES that I feel crappy all the time and she's going to do something about it. She LISTENS to me. she listens about my families illnesses as well. wow. I'm SO excited!

Then, this afternoon, I had the GI specialist appt. At 1st I didn't think it would really be a good appt when I saw the doctor complaining to the nurses about this and that. But when the doctor came in, it was't that same doctor! This one asked me questions, felt my belly, then *explained* my GI system to me. Then he's telling me he's going to send me for a GI scan (you know, drink the stuff, get pictures, drink the stuff, get pictures... for hours lol). Then when that is done, I'm gonna have am endoscopy. Yeah, I'm not thrilled, but I'm finally getting answers!!!

so that's my exciting day :) :)

LaurieW

lOve the O!
Andrea- quite the journey you are on- great advocate for yourself- keep questioning until you find answers- never hand the GI scan- but have had several enoscopes- not bad worst part for me was not eating in the morning!

By all means, don't send back the phone charger - her phone will die and she won't be able to call and nag you. I know, that's not very nice, but it is a thought.
Send her the phone charger, that is the only thing that's a necessity. The sunglasses, hair gell and movie can be replaced. Just my two cents.

Hi everyone!! you have all been so chatty today!!! Its Tuesday afternoon downunder and I am guessing that it is getting to midnight EST time over there!

I am really enjoying my holidays. I can't get over the fact that you guys don't have any extended leave over the Christmas break. Downunder the kids go on school holidays a week before Christmas and don't go back until the beginning of February. A LOT of people also take their annual leave at this time of year so at work it is pretty quiet until the end of Jan beginning Feb. Over the past two years I have had to go back to work early (like this week) as I had to travel to train new recruits but that isn't part of my work anymore so I thrilled to have this week off!!

I have started out this year by 'organising' myself!! I have started walking again, had to stop last year when I had blood pressure probs. etc but that is getting better as the doc. has increased my dieuretic tabs as I was really carrying a lot of fluid before Christmas. These are now working and I have started cutting down on the carbs so that for the first time for MONTHS I am feeling really energised and HEALTHY!! I have lost 6kgs (approx-12lbs) since before Christmas and while a lot of that was water/fluid I feel that I am now staryting to get rid of some of the fat!! :)

Well I hadn't meant to ramble on as much as I have done! LOL! just wanted to share my good vibes with you all and I am sending some over the miles to all of you that feeling poorly at the moment!!! Hope you all get to feeling healthy real soon! Have run out of time so will drop back in tomorrow and leave some personals!! Hope you all have a great day tomorrow!!
