Art Journaling anyone?

OK, so I said to myself that I'd scrap the July challenges today and get them out of the way as a good cheery-o and because I'm going away on holiday and will miss the end of the month. But I find myself drawn, yet again, to the whole concept of art journaling. I've been looking around the galleries (including our very own Maya - she's a dab hand at it) and thinking maybe, just maybe I could do this. I'm fascinated by the randomness of it all. And the mess.

And then I take the plunge. I start creating. And before I know it (well, OK, several hours later), I have not one but three completed art journal pages. OMGoodness, how pleased am I?! Furthermore, I'm even more pleased as I realise I can use my existing stash (check out Ju Kneipp's AWESOME papers). So apologies to my fellow cheery-os for not having scrapped your challenges yet. And apologies to my family for the lack of washed clothes as I played for so long!

Here are my pages:

Has anyone else jumped in to this form of scrapping? Has anyone else tried this with real paints and papers and got deliciously dirty in the process?

Well, well, well, there's quite a few of us crawling out of the woodwork. Good to see I'm not alone - although I've long been a fan of Eva's sense of humour (the violin-playing goat is such a wonderful image!). Mind you, you've all going to wonder if this was all really me when you see the next LO I'm going to post!

Helen, step on in, girl. Watch your inbox - am off to compose a response (after breakfast mind!).

I haven't done any art-journaling myself- not even sure if I could. But I just have to post here to say that ITA with Selena- I adore Eva and her sense of humor too :D

Just try!! It's so much fun!! Anything goes, there are no rules:biggrin:

My art journal pages are, since i HATE to journal, mostly inspired by lyrics, I should call them art lyrics pages LOL and I try to make my pages bold using fun colours and elements. Remember anything goes!! I like to use elements in a "different" way --like a flower for a dress. Or when I want to create a person on my page, i use the head from one doll, the body from another and maybe arrows as legs and arms. And when I have chosen the title for my page I usually want the page to depict the actual words in the title... don't know if it makes any sense.. but that's just what I do:mrgreen:

Can't wait to see everyones pages!!

My mom and I did last christmas. We're both on SherrieJD's CT and she did an Countdown to Christmas Art Journaling Class. We decided to follow the class with real paper and paint, etc. And it's so much fun too!! At first I was really "scared" cause real life doesn't have a Ctrl-Z button LOL but then I just deciced to try, paint/spray/stencil and now I have some pages I love and some I don't. But that's okay.. it's all about the proces/the creating/having fun.

And you can always scan your pages/painting and use them in your digital art journaling pages.

I love both styles, but for me, I think I can get the most out of my pages when creating them digitally.. I love the fact that you can use any type of elements.. like cars or other things you can't really use IRL

always chatty at the O!!
I love seeing other people's pages doing this...especially when they throw in some pics...it is so creative. I might one day be able to wrap my brain around it. Maybe Maya could do a creative challenge one month on this technique??
