Firstly, a big welcome to A Whimsical Adventure's first challenge here at Oscraps!

I hope you will join me scrapping a page about the current seasonal change happening in the northern and southern hemispheres. For those of you in the north Spring is on its way while for us, down the southern part of the globe, Autumn is starting to be felt! :)

For the challenge, you can choose whatever option suits you:
  • you can scrap a page about Spring or Autumn (it doesn't matter which hemisphere you live in)
  • or you can create a page using both seasons (think of a divided page)
  • perhaps you may like to scrap two layouts, one for each season
The only important bit to remember is that we are only using the Spring or Autumn seasons. :)

I live in Tasmania, an island state off the southern coast of mainland Australia. We moved down here in 2018 because it was just getting too hot for us on the mainland and to date we love it! Where we lived up in the northern part of New South Wales, we virtually only had two seasons, Summer and Winter! Down here in the south we get all four seasons which I still find so wonderfully exciting!

I went with the second option noted above, creating a divided page to have the two seasons on one page. I used two photos of my potted succulents. The top one was taken in May 2021 during our Autumn and the bottom photo, taken in October 2021 during our Spring. I love how the succulents change colour during the cooler season of Autumn, and then in Spring they burst into the most unusual and pretty flowers.

Thanks for the challenge. I selected an early fall photo I had to go with those gorgeous papers and overlays in the Spring Rural Landscapes kit. I also used some freebie blending masks from a July? 2024 newsletter from A Whimsical Adventure. I couldn't find them in the shop, but they are fabulous, and I wish they were in the store.

Hi Celestine, that is great that you love those masks, I remember them and will put them in my store here too, thanks for the reminder! I have such a large product catalogue, it takes some time to get everything over here :-)
I absolutely love the effect you create here, using part of the sketched landscapes with a real landscape, really cool. Thanks for playing along!

Beautiful page Wimmeke! I had no idea you could actually eat these!
I didn't know that either, those shrubs have been in my garden for years. I took a Wildpluk herb course with Lieve Galle and that's how I found out that these flowers are edible by the way, I learned a lot about what used to be weeds for me, are now medicinal plants

I am so glad you will be putting the masks in the store. The irregular shape and edge blending on those make them truly useful for all kinds of layouts. I also ADORE these rural landscape papers and overlays. They remind me so much of the landscape here in the Midwest - the kind of vista to which I have a very emotional connection. I knew I wanted to use those hay bale photos and couldn't believe how seamlessly they fit into the sketched scene you created. I used two masks and clipped the same photo into the masks and the foreground overlay. As an aside, I was on a genealogy research trip when I took this photo. My pioneer ancestors came into Illinois nearly 10 years before it became a state, and lived on land more than 200 years ago in the immediate vicinity of where this photo was taken.

P.S. I look forward to seeing more of your older product catalog put back into the store. I have several kits of yours that are "old" favorites and would love to be able to use them in challenges again.

I love your story Celestine!
And yes, I am constantly adding my older products here... some of them are offered in the wow sale on Wednesday, others are just randomly added. Mind you, they are added in the order that they were originally made, not as a brand new product here, so you won't see them as a product in the 'new' category. But do check my store from time to time; you will see that I'm constantly adding things!
