Aaaaaargh everything broke down!

Hi everyone, it has been a while since I visited my Ofamily. Someone gave me some bad advise and my laptop broke down. Nothing worked, it was unstable and when I tried to fix it, my Photoshop and ACDsee got damaged and I lost most of my LO's.
OMG I freaked out!!! Laptop went to a "laptopdoctor" en he got it working again. He found my LO's somewhere in the dungeons of my C-drive, I was so happy. I had to install PS again, and al my fonts and actions and presets and everything. And ACDsee, which I didn't backup so I have to start labeling 35GB of scrapstuff ...
But the good news is, it is working. I can get back to scrapping.

Take some advise from me, never try to install and uninstall MacAfee when you already have AVG Free edition. You are asking for major trouble, believe me:-) And BACKUP YOUR WORK!!!

OMGosh Dane ... I'm soooo glad you got things sorted out! I'd been a total wreck if that ever happened to me. Congrats on getting it sorted though & it's good to have you back hOme!!!
 
thanks Sue, tried to scrap just now but it is not working the way it did. Have to figure out why...

thanks, It feels so much better if you know that there are people who get that this is a disaster. Will call in some more help tomorrow, I will keep you posted

oh no! Dane!!! this is freaky but I actually dreamt that that happened to me just this week!!!! and yesterday I saved something to my external HD and it started making a funny sound and the light just kept blinking! I tell you! my heart was in my throat cause all of my pictures, LO's and stash are on it!!!!! but I closed down the laptop and rebooted and everything seems to be ok!

but you, you poor darling!! - maybe it was you I was dreaming about!!! LOL!!! I so hope everything works out ok for you!!!! WE HAVE MISSED YOU!!! xo

and thanks about the AVG and Macafee info!!! I had AVG on my laptop and was going to put Macafee on as that is what is on our home PC..........I will double check that AVG is totally gone before I install Macafee!!!

whew!!! Dane- what version of ACDSee do you have? In 2009, you can embed all of your tagging, so if you don't back- up and your computer crashes--- the metadata stays intact.
Right now they are having summer sales at acdsee.com too.

Are any of you in the US Cablevision/Optimum customers? We have all 3 service (phone/internet/cable) with them, and I just got an email for a free 2 gig back-up w/ Carbonite. I have downloaded it and next I have to choose what files I want to have backed up. I am sure 2G will fill up fast, but I can at least pick the most important ones.
