Oh my goodness, really, just two week time eh Heather???

Well, for me it's probably closer to 4 weeks until mine goes up. I've got a week off work at the beginning of December and I guess I'll put my tree up towards the end of that week, some over the weekend of 6th / 7th December!!!

I'm not ready... won't be ready in two weeks or in four weeks. This year has flown by and I am not ready to say goodbye just yet! ;)

Heather - if I had my way it would be up the day after Thanksgiving but Mamaw will win on this one and it will probably be around Dec 17..... It's a really pathetic Charlie Brown tree and it has 1 little ornament .... It makes her happy and I'm all about keeping her happy!

Sue - I have to ask, which calender are you looking at that has the 6th/7th falling at the weekend?! And I hate to scare you further, but these dates are sadly closer than 4 weeks, I know this because the 7th is Woody's birthday and boy, do we all know about it! I'm counting down the days until I don't have to hear about it any more (and because it's extra tough on Ginny who's birthday is tomorrow).

We, well I, try not to put the tree up before my youngest's aforementioned birthday, but sometimes my DH & other kids get carried away and do it earlier. But as his birthday is mid week and the weekend before is mega busy, I guess I'll get my way this year.

Awe.... That's what Christmas is all about...SWEET!!

When my kids were little we used to put up real trees....we would go to a tree lot and scour until we found a nice pretty fat one....but one year we came across the tiny short little tree that was so lonely off by itself...could not resist but to give that tree a home with love!!!

As a normal...we put it up around the 15th or so (whatever weekend falls around that time)

That reminds me....we've had an artificial tree now for about 8 yrs, but we always previously had a real one, so couldn't really put it up much before the 19th or 20th or the poor thing would be totally dead by the Big Day. And in the pre-kid days, when we were both working right up until the last minute, the tree wouldn't even get bought before Christmas Eve - at least they were good and cheap by then!

As some of you know, I used to live in Singapore where believe it or not you can actually buy real trees. Course, they only keep their needles for about 20 mins before the heat & humidity becomes too much, but it is quite an extraordinary sight to see something so northern on the Equator (and add to this the nightly "snow storm" that takes place at one of the malls for 6 weeks every year - bizarre, soapy, but fun).

With no little ones at home we don't have a big tree any more, just a smallish one that sits on a side table, the presents all still fit under it for the kiddos!!!!!!!!! lol!!!! But I am thinking, cause we are having Christmas at our place, that we might do a REAL tree for a change!!!!!!!!!!!! there are some pines growing along the road just up from our place so I might send DH out with his chainsaw as it gets nearer!!

If I have my way, we will put it up the weekend after Thanksgiving...but my husband wouldn't mind it later. Putting up the tree is one of my favorite things EVER!!! I love that old Hallmark commercial with the guy and the girl looking at ornaments...it's so me. :) (And I realize now that these are famous actors now...)

I love that commercial and yep that is what I do....almost all my ornaments have a special memory tied to it.....as my grandson helps me put them on the tree I share the memory or story behind it....he loves it and so do I.

i'm a total sucker for those old hallmark commercials. i get all misty :)

the goal is to put the tree up the day after Thanksgiving, but I'm not even sure where we'll even put it as the RockBand drumset is in the tree spot - yikes!

we have that little charlie brown Christmas tree too! I usually put it in the kitchen, but now that i'm actually cooking on a daily basis now, i don't even know where that will go because of the limited counter space in there.

oh the problems of being too blessed with too many things (that's nicer than saying too messy :) )

lOve the O!
not sure when our tree will go up. We have a big one, and I have a smaller kitchen one that I just love. The big one- well- it is nice, but a pain to haul out. Not sure who will be here at Christmas, so we haven't figured out what we will do.

always chatty at the O!!
No tree for us this year. My parents will be wiating to put their tree up until we get there. i am so excited to go home for Christmas though. Just a few days over a month until we get on a plane headed home. yay!!!

We have two trees. DH likes me to wait until Dec 1 to put the tree up. I now have a child with a birthday on Dec 5 and usually his birthday party is around then so I let him decide if he wants it up before or after his birthday. So far he's always voted for before and his party's on the 2nd this year! I really want one of the little Charlie Brown miniature trees they're selling at Lowe's up here. I love a Charlie Brown Christmas!

this thread is seriously scaring me! eep!
I love the aura of a real tree, but they are so expensive. When gary got sick and we had no $$, we borrowed my IL's enormous fake tree. I think I brought it back to their house to return it once in the last 6 years LOL They don't have anyone at their house for C-mas and we do, so they told us to keep it.

We usually put it up either Thanksgiving weekend, esp when the kids were small. Now we go more towards 1st weekend in Dec. Either way- this year-- its too soon!!!!

I don't even have the excuse to say it was late when I typed this do I?!?!?! I'm seriously date challenged at the moment! My tree will be going up the weekend after we meet up for lunch (which if my diary is correct this time, is actually on Friday 9th December yes???) so either 10th or 11th ... so 3.5 weeks right?!?!?!

Well, I have decided that this year it will only be the Christmas dishes for the month of December and a small ceramic tree that my late mil made for me and my xh. A 70s classic that I hated then, and now love since she is gone, and she was the best mil to me.

One or two years early in our marriage (this year was our 10th anniversary) we had a live tree. What a battle. He fussed so much that we went to an artificial tree. Then during a renovation, we had a flood in the basement -cellar! -and the tree drowned. Now I'm not sure if we replaced it or not...but my bottom line this year is just the ceramic tree.

We are usually away for a good bit of December and I often feel like I just get the stuff down to decorate, we go away, and I get home in time to un-decorate which has to be the most thankless job of all. If I'm ever a widow, I'll have my tree up for a full month! These days, I let my husband have his way over the whole tree issue.
