To mimic the style of my inspiration piece, I first ran the Underpainting and then the Palette Knife filters found in PSE on my photo. I placed a solid background paper, adding paints, stains, and word art. I framed my photo and accented it with elements from the collection.
It is summer - and really hot - here in the US and July means Independence Day. I am unashamedly a Patriot and a former active duty member of the US Army who took an oath for life, so this day has a much different meaning for me than for some.
The background is paper 3 in multiply mode over paper 1, then paper 3 in Multiply mode is used as an overlay. Word Art from the collection is also blended over the background for the title.

To create the CHAOS overlay, I cut the word "chaos" from the wordart and ran it through Karen Schulz' Scatter Magic action. To make the words feel stamped on the page rather than floating, I played with the blend modes of the various text layers.
