I like mine a lot. As a kid I wasn't so sure since it could be nice weather or dismal as it's in the middle of May, but as a birder it's perfect at about peak of the spring migration. As a result my birthday "present" is often to go birding somewhere I enjoy.

No birthday involved exactly, but very much a new beginning.

Retiring and jumping into genealogy was one of my new beginnings and such a rewarding one.

I know you referred to the dragon as "this guy" but are you sure about that? Maybe it's Annabelle.

This is a fun story as it has very clear steps along the way to becoming an avid birder.

One of my favorite poems when I was a child was Ogden Nash's The Tale of Custard the Dragon. This one doesn't look cowardly, but too sweet for most dragon names.
