My inner voice demanded that I use as much of my new DSD 2022 stuff as soon as possible. The scary stories in the first part of October were mostly about Hurricane Ian and no way to find out how Kate was doing. Also about the viability of democracy and 2022 elections a month away.
Love this. Ours have gotten curious and watch the whole time when Stone fixes our lunch on our patio grill, and enjoy the sprinkler when he sets it in their spot.
The paper I used solved the problem of wanting an interesting bottom edge for a photo that spans two pages and the question of where to put more of my photos. :D
On our last day we finally got a sunny morning, but there was quite a bit of fog over the water. The cranes stayed long after the sun was up and less than half had flown off to the fields by the time we left the refuge. The sunrise was beautiful but it was about 31F and our fingers got too cold...
I used Rachel's "Every Last Minute" and Lynn Grieveson's "Don't Quit."
rjefferies: Every Last Minute (frame, messythread, paint, 2 jprompts, floral transfer, splatter
lgrieveson: Dont Quit (Frame, 2 flowers, mm weed, paint, painted leaves, 3 papers, sequins)
On Wednesday it stayed dark later than usual because of the thick clouds at the refuge, and there weren't as many birds as on Tuesday. They all took off in small groups until none were left, and they were much quieter than on other mornings. It wasn't a great day for photography and we left early.
While farther away from the cranes, I made a video to record the amazing carpet of sound coming from all the smaller birds. On Sunday in the rain, there were no blackbirds at Alamosa NWR. But on Tuesday at MVNWR there were hundreds or maybe even thousands. And it had snowed up high.
Thank you! I thought they were young coots because we hadn't seen the grebes at this refuge before. Now we know and don't need to worry about those young-uns.
