Process:
I made this simple layout as an exercise in fantasy. What if Ollie has a secret life when Emma and Jake go out?
I started by framing the photo and then blended both the photo and the frame into the background--I wanted to create a linear design suggesting Ollie's apartment building; to that end, I stamped on the window brush to give the feeling of looking in (in reality my daughter was sitting on the couch with Ollie when she snapped this photo).
I added the type next, using a mixture of contrasting fonts, then the buttons, threads and, for some atmosphere, a ranging snowstorm, thanks to that wonderful new Snowy Fotoblendz set. Then I added a couple of spatters that suggested pawprints.
Because the layout looked flat, I went to my go-to cure-the-flatness stragegy: artsy transfers. I selected Euphoria Artsy Transfer #3 for its lovely textures, stains, tapes, and artstrokes.
Does Ollie really play the guitar when he's left alone? We'll never know....
