May!! How in the world is it May??
I am super excited, but at the same time, I feel very much behind where I should be and how my gardens should look. They are a mess! Utter and absolute mess and I hope I can get them cleaned up enough where I haven't killed everything off. My poor plant babies, probably all yellow and scraggly under the dead leaves.

How was everyone's last day of April?
Mine was as busy as I expected, yet didn't get everything done as I had hoped. I surface-cleaned the kitchen, the bathroom, and my office. I scrapped a LO for some new stunning Foxeysquirrel papers. Two loads of laundry. Prepped for today's field trip. I am leading Forest Floor, and I've never done this one so I'm not sure how the flow is supposed to go. I'm sure that after doing it four times in a row today, I'll be a pro. (Or at least not as bad as I will be for the first run LOL).
I also paid bills, set up my calendars for May and June, had a few heart conniptions over them... You know-- same old, same old. :rotfl:
Gary found some seed starter plugs in the basement so I got the tray of seeds set up and I hope that I will have some success. I started onions, lettuce, tomatoes, red peppers, summer squash, and cucumbers. I had gotten the Survival Seed Vault kit from the FP and holy cow, they ain't kiddin' with the name. Each packet of seeds has a ton of seeds inside. Twenty varieties and all heirloom. I am starting 6 plugs for each of the veggies because I don't have a lot of sun or decent soil. If even half germinate, I am still going to struggle to find places and buckets to put everything in.
Wish me luck!

And wish me luck today too. It should go awesome, we have first graders today so it doesn't take much to keep them happy.
Scott is coming for dinner tonight for Gary's birthday (on Saturday but Scott is working).

HAGD!

PS: I hope this is making sense, the brain is ping-ponging this morning LOL

Good Morning,
Nothing going on around here today. Wrapping up the books for April for church is about it.
I want to do some more decluttering in the bedroom.
Maybe do some laundry throughout the day.
Might even be a stay-in-the-pjs-day!
Have a great day!
I hope you did everything you needed to do while in PJs all day!

Today is Yoga, Yoga, Pickleball, Yoga, Yoga. Yes, I am teaching 4 yoga classes with a little time for pickleball this afternoon. Let's GO!
I didn't know you taught yoga! Any advice on getting back in the groove after a broken foot? I was doing some chair yoga in the beginning, then got semi-depressed and was pretty haphazard afterward. Now I am at the point where it's not part of my routine, and I keep saying I'll do it tomorrow. I think I am going to have to start at square one again. pfft.
Love that you had the energy to squeeze pickleball in there too!

Do women really rest and take the day off??? I hope you are able to put your foot up some and rest it though. Remember what the doc said, take it easy!!! Listen to me Pot!! Kettle knows!! :giggle4: :hug2:
Yeah, I don't think so. I feel like I squandered my opportunity to actually rest when I first broke my foot. But I can't! I simply cannot rest!:bawling:
You feel me??
Good thing I dont have a job so I can stalk the site for the new LO challenges. :giggle4:
Good thing!! :D
I decided to color code the DVD inventory with yellow high-lighter for those in the Family room TV stand and pink high-lighter for Series and/or multiple movies in the other FR cabinet. That way I will know where to look them later on. I am taking it easy as I move a few at a time then color code the inventory (which meant a lot of standing as I flipped through the inventory to find them).
I think that you and Caitlyn have a hive mind. That girl color-codes *everything* and the coordinates her notes/post-its and spreadsheets. Glad you are taking breaks as you work.
ITA-- Tracy, your siggie is perfect for you!! Too cute!

That's awesome, Tracy!! Time sure flies, doesn't it? I feel like I've always known you. We are the lucky ones - that you "landed here". :heartpumpred: :heartpumpred:
Well said!!! :claphands:
I took a couple of days off and went to Branson, MO to watch my almost 14 year old GS play in a statewide competition. He's in the Honors Orchestra and plays the cello. He's been playing for a couple of years now and is quite good. Their orchestra won first place in every category. We were so proud, watching him/them play that we were bursting our buttons.
I amsop proud of Asher!! It's funny b/c when he visits with you, he seems likehe prefers video games above all else. But the dedication and practice he must do to play in Honors Orchestra-- on a Cello, no less-- that is impressive!

Gotta go and cover up the bags under my eyes. I don't wear makeup to work, but I am vain enough to use concealer, tinted moisturizer, and mascara so I don't scare the kiddos.

(Hahahaha, that made me think of the boy who told me my voice was younger than my face! Still cracks me up!!! :floorlaugh:)

Happy May Day everyone. This is a busy month for me. Lots of birthdays, anniversary's, club events and we start our summer trip912th) so will be packing and prepping.
Yesterday the girls took me out for my birthday to our favorite Thai restaurant, it was delicious and again leftovers. Tomorrow hubby it taking me out for my real birthday. I sent the card to my twin and he will get it in time this year....LOL. Last night was a Tastefully Simple party at the club so I got a few things for the camper. I was happy to see my son's MIL there and we had a nice chat about camping. Sadly we will not be meeting up with them in CT they will be there the week before we get there so I guess we will have to go camping here in FL when we both get back.
I have a check up at Dr this morning then plan to go to the trailer to wipe down the counters and do some general clean up before loading it up. This is crunch time now...lists made and a few things packed so it's getting real. Somehow we always get it ready. There are so many things going on at the club in the next 2 weeks I will have really get organized.
My new camera gets here today so I will have to take some time to play with it.

Ok I have been following along with everyone so I hope make a few comments this morning.

@Cherylndesigns wow that is so cool to see your grandson play. Congrats to him that is really something to be proud of.

@vickyday Decluttering is a huge job...you go girl. I have been doing that some also...I say I don't want to leave it for the kids to do.

@AK_Tracy Are you starting to enjoy your retirement? our new siggie is great and that snowperson peaking out saying "dont forget me" To answer your question...no women do not take day off and rest. I for one cannot just sit there I have to be doing something.

All of you who stay in PJ's all day amaze me...If I stay in mine all day I am sick. I have to wait till hubby gets up so I can get shower and dressed but I do it as soon as I can. Make up every day too. I never know what is going to happen so I have to be ready.

Hubby is up so time to shower and get dressed. I hope to be back later.

Good morning! I'm up - shocker, I know. I woke up about 6 and have just been laying in bed. Decided to get up. I'll probably lay back down in a bit. Haha.

Chris @faerywings that is SO funny that you brought up the playing of video games that Asher does in all of his spare time. It's definitely a little bit of a dichotomy that he goes from one extreme to the other, isn't it? He's such a smart kid and has always been musically inclined. He's been able to read music since he was very young and can play about any instrument he picks up. I was so surprised when he started playing the cello about 2 years ago. That's a difficult instrument to play. He is very dedicated to playing that, just like he is to his video games. :giggle4: "Back in the day", we had to take a semester of orchestra, and I got through it by playing the triangle. :rotfl:

Debby, @BoatLady sounds like you have a busy month and thanks for the congrats for Asher.

One quick memory about May Day. In grade school, we did the "Maypole Dance" on May Day,. I have such fond memories of that.

Happy May Day everybody and XOXO

Good Morning and Happy May Day! It is a beautiful sunny day for our first day of May! Yesterday's hike was great and I think we broke a record with the number of people on the hike at 34!! The group is getting a bit too large and we have to make a lot of stops to keep everyone together. It is a bit frustrating at times, because there are a bunch of us that hike at a pretty good pace, but then a lot that do not. I get it, I will be the one that does not one of these days :giggle4: but we need to figure out how to perhaps break the group into two and have two leaders and two sweeps. Anyway it was still a beautiful hike and so good to be with all of my hiking friends again! My Gary stayed home for this one and by the time I got home the new railings were installed and the patio furniture was put out on the upper deck. We both just love our new decking and railings!! I hope to get a layout done of the before and after. Also today I need to get my chores done here at the O. I supposed to go for a kayak this morning with SIL Linda, but she had something come up so it will have to wait until tomorrow or perhaps the weekend. Not sure what my Gary has planned for his day, but I am sure it will involve some more power washing and puttering around the yard.

I wish I could find a survival seed kit. I have always wanted a raised garden of vegetables, we have so many squirrels and bunnies that planting anything like that in the ground would be disastrous! I think at this stage of our lives, my DH would never build one and would tell me to just go to the Farm Market, its easier LOL. Sounds like work is going to keep you very busy! Enjoy the little ones today, how fun!!
Yesterday the girls took me out for my birthday to our favorite Thai restaurant, it was delicious and again leftovers. Tomorrow hubby it taking me out for my real birthday. I sent the card to my twin and he will get it in time this year....LOL.
Well Happiest of Birthdays Debbie!! I hope your birthday lunch with your hubby is lovely! How great that you have a twin brother!
All of you who stay in PJ's all day amaze me...If I stay in mine all day I am sick. I have to wait till hubby gets up so I can get shower and dressed but I do it as soon as I can. Make up every day too. I never know what is going to happen so I have to be ready.
I agree I have never had a PJ day even all through Covid, just can't for some reason. I wear makeup everyday because like you said... you never know whats going to happen:giggle4:
One quick memory about May Day. In grade school, we did the "Maypole Dance" on May Day,. I have such fond memories of that.
I remember doing the Maypole Dance too when I was very young! It used to be a really big deal when we lived in the Mill town growing up they had a huge celebration for May Day!! I will have to see if I can find some photos!

Waving :wavinghello: to @AK_Tracy, @vickyday, @bcgal00,@JeanneMN @BrightEyes and anyone else that pops in today! Have a great first day of May!

I got a lot more decluttering done in the bedroom, but didn't stay in pjs as Mark wanted to go to lunch. That's OK!

So, when you say this is your 912th summer trip.....I am assuming you must take 18 trips per summer? (I got my figure by taking 20 years off your age and dividing that into 912 ;). )

Yes, decluttering is a JOB I don't enjoy!

YAY! So glad the railings are up! Is the construction over with now?

Good Morning,
Quick in and out. Mark wants to go to lunch again! ;)
Got quite a bit of decluttering done in the bedroom yesterday, but still not where I want to be. I have an Amazon order coming today for shoe storage in my closet. And I need to go through my clothes and thin them out. I have tons but only wear a few things over and over! Why do we do that?
Mark wanted to go to lunch yesterday, too, so I did not stay in my pjs all day as planned. That's OK.
No cooking for a few days. Mark wants to get rid of the leftovers that are collecting in the fridge. I know I haven't mentioned them in a while, but I am still loving my freezer meals! And they have everyone been really good!
OK, need to get ready to go meet Mark.
HAGD!
PS - @AK_Tracy I've been listening to audiobooks by Michelle Shocklee. They are WONDERFUL!

Woke up at 3:30 this morning, actually awake before that, but got up at 3:30. Put my numbers in to start May, yah how did that happen, and then did some commenting in the gallery. Closed out my April challenge. Yesterday must have been the day to pay bills; all mine are online, but I had receipts to upload into Quicken and Amex & Visa statements to verify, I'm very anal about keeping receipts & keeping track of them. Amex card has settled back down after it's post Key West weight gain. Did a couple loads of laundry, printed some scrapbook pages that I hadn 't done yet. I've decided to print duplicates of everything with the grands & share them with their mom. She's so good about sharing pictures with me and I do the same. Her birthday is May 10 and there it a 2-day volleyball tournament so I can give them to her then. Tuesday's track meet started with a temperature of 61°. 2 sweatshirts and black sweatpants in the sun was almost too warm, but I got some great high jump pictures of Lauren. Then we moved to the dreaded bleachers, which are in the shade for her 3 running events. We sat on the quilt. Of course her last event was third from the end, by then it was 50, breezy and chilly. Wendell had gone back to the car for my winter coat which has been a third passenger since spring sports started. I reached in the pockets for my mittens and they weren't there. I said, "I thought my mittens were in the pockets." He said, "One fell out when I took the coat out of the car, so I put it in the car & took the other one out too & left it there." ????:what!::what!: I don't know if that's a guy thing or a left handed as opposed to right handed .... "are your hands cold ?" In his defense he loaned me his gloves, but when I originally said I was going to go get my coat, where do you think that mitten would have been?

Lauren did well, she got 2nd in the 200m and one of the relays she was on got 3rd. She was asked to do the long jump at the varsity meet this afternoon, so it's back to the track, and then 6 miles to Christian's baseball game. Possibility of rain so we'll see. They are predicting 80 for the weekend so I hope we can get the bikes out.

Tuesday night during that big storm, the frog choir started. They've been quiet the last 2 days, but at 3:30 this morning they were at it again. I have a bunch of track pictures to sort through and a bunch of old quotes that you may not remember saying what you said, you know what I mean ? @faerywings I know you know because you don't seem to know what you said right after you said it, you know?

Well I did it--I bought a new Canon camera with wifi and 24.2 megapixels( my other was only 18) that can still use my lens. I will be able to send pics through my phone...so excited i think this will really come in handy in Germany. I paid extra to get it on Thursday rather than next week. Ill be able to play with it before we leave on our summer trip North. Last night at the music night hubby bought a cake for me and everyone/band sang HBday, I was embarrassed it's fine for everyone else but I don't like it for me.
Now it's full speed ahead to get ready to leave on 12th.

That is so exciting. you are smart to get it ahead of time to cut down the learning curve with it. Me, with anything I get I usually learn enough to be dangerous and then don't go any farther. It took me a bit to get used to my Canon 7D again . I always shoot sports in manual mode so after a few years of phone photos, it took a bit.
so nice to have the star player in the family. I totally understand why you are so proud. I just cannot imagine sitting in the cold to watch the games. I went to all our son's baseball games but it wasn't cold or rainy. Kudos to you for being so dedicated.
That is so sweet of you to say, she played like a star that day but these girls all went thru a 6 hour tryout, so like an honors orchestra or choir they all have star capability and 2 weeks ago at that tournament when they beat 6 teams the first day without a loss they played like stars. She was so funny at the track meet when I showed her a picture of her running she says, "wow, I look athletic, I didn't think I looked athletic." Good grief, legs up to her ampits full out sprint.
I get excited each month to see all the challenges
I'm totally with you, Kay. I have so many favorite things since coming here a year ago and that's that the challenges are challenging and have forced me to get out of my comfort zone. Scary thing for me for sure in fact something that almost made me quit before I started, there were only 2 challenges left when I came on. One was Storybook/fantasy and Ona had to talk me off of that ledge. I ended up really liking it. There are still a couple I can't wrap my head around, but I've stretched my creative muscles. Color is a driving force for me, and I really like themed elements. Funny thing, in Minnesota, we don't have any luck growing flowers in the snow.
I love flowers and greenery and making clusters.... that goes back to my love of making floral arrangements and wreaths for years in Real Life. I am drawn to vintage and steampunk and fantasy as well as seasonal collections.
This explains a lot, Kay. I have zero talent arranging flowers - In a vase, flop. LOVE seasonal, Christmas of course is my absolute favorite, I have a hard time with non-traditional Christmas . colors , and glitter is a driving force of course. I hate to be dense but I totally do not get steampunk, but I know a lot of people like it.
I dont want to cover or overlap any item cause I love the item as it is and the work that went into creating it. Its so fun how and what we all do. Its been fun to see (read). I love the clusters you make and how you and Chris use so many flowers and its stunning. When I try it looks like I handed a toddler the bouquet and said here have fun :floorlaugh:
Goes with my comment above, exactly the SAME way a flower arrangement I do looks like. A child picking dandelions does better
Today my daughter who lives in Ontario is supposed to have tornado watches :holysheep:they went from 41F to 84F in less than 24 hours, crazy weather for sure!
That's the recipe for cooking it up especially when the atmosphere gets soupy. I can't figure out why bad storms woke the frogs up for a night.
Okay, I'm going to be the one to say this...I wish the conductor had gone for fuller sized panties that covered her more, or looser pants...her butt was SO distracting for me :floorlaugh::wardrobehide: Sorry...:monkebootie:
Thank you for saying it out loud.:floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

Good morning ladies. I've been super busy so not around much. It is definitely going to be a bit of a juggling process to figure out how to include everything into my schedule. The jewelry hobby that has now turned into a business is very time consuming right now. So far I'm booked for 4 artisan markets and am stockpiling jewelry as fast as I can make it. Still working on how to set up my table, I'm hoping to get Darrell to build me wood stands but I have most of what I need now. I'm waiting for stickers to arrive with my biz name on them so I can put together the hanging tags with the sticker on them for each item. It'll be very time consuming to get everything ready for my first market in a month but I feel confident it'll all get done.

Met some lovely ladies at the stone wire wrapping class I attended and they have invited me to a weekly ladies artisan meetup in Calgary. It'll be fun to hang out with other crafters every Mon morning.

No book reading for me right now. Binging a few shows and just caught up on Handmaids Tale. The weather finally is sunny and very warm. Time to get the deck cleaned up and ready to sit outside. Our meal kit delivery is going well. We have had some great meals and they are ones I wouldn't normally make so that is a nice change. So easy, open the container to remove all items, follow the step-by-step instructions with pics and food is on the table from start to finish in 30 min.

Hope to get a bit of scrapping done this month if I can tighten up my schedule. Who knew retirement would be so busy LOL.

I skimmed the personals and it looks like every is doing ok. Be back later over the wkend to catch up. HAGD everyone.

Happy May. Its almost spring time!!! The trees are budding, the rain is falling, the bees are finding pollen, kids allergies are in high gear, dogs allergies are kicking in, yeah spring! Its so weird this year too as we didn't have much snow so it feels like we should be farther along then we are. Reading all the comments everyone is in busy mode. I'm hoping to come back an do personals but the coffee just finished brewing and its time to start my bible study. I feel behind today already and it just started. Have a wonderful May Day!

Morning, all. Been busy this morning uploading 2 LOs to the Art Journaling Thread. YES... I am doing AJ this month. The theme jumped out and grabbed my attention.... :claphands: dance4:dancing6: And I knew right what I wanted to do with it and what kit I would use.
I already had it my stash... :girldance: And that got my day off to a good start! Closed out my April CT tracking thread and got May's opened. Always feel better once those threads are taken care of on the 1st of the month. Just need to bring my paper tracking pages up to date. There are some great challenges this month that have my mojo running full-speed ahead!! :motorcycle:

I ended up being lazy most of yesterday... moved a few more DVD series into the family room cabinet then called it quit and watched 3 Netflix movies before heading to bed. I really need to run a few errands today as it will be the only "calm" day before the winds and storms come back for several days. May's weather outlook is more yo-yo of cold to hot to cold again during the first couple of weeks. Will be back later... after I run my errands. Have a good day every one.

Hi Kay, What part of NM are you in? Hubby and I just got back from 2 weeks, mostly in Santa Fe, but we traveled from Albuquerque to Taos and down to Roswell (to visit the aliens). There was lots of wind and dust in ABQ but the rest of our weather was almost perfect -- excluding snow on Easter! You have a beautiful state!

I am in Rio Rancho... almost on the border with Albuquerque. Happy you had a wonderful trip in my home state!!

Start with something so small that you can't help but do it. Maybe one sun salutation or a round of cat/cow each day is your base line and then tell yourself "you did it" but that you can do more if you have time.
