Oscraps

So....

I have a history of dropping phones down the loo (yes, I've done this not once, but 3 times!), so I've banned myself from having anything as nice as an iphone or similar. I have a bottom of the range Nokia that even my daughter laughs at and she's been begging to have a phone for years now.

Oh Selena! LOL

Not us- we have ancient driods (I almost typed ancient druids!!!), but as long as they work, good enough for me.

Now OTOH--- I want to know if anyone is going to get the Kindle Fire. I am thinking that I might see if santa wants to bring me one :)

We have old Motorola cells, nothing really fancy. Now the Kindle Fire, I want...we shall see...but hubby has a Xoom so I should have a Kindle Fire, right?

I appear to be outnumbered here with an iPhone, don't I. My dil IS getting the 4GS Anna; she still had the 3G, tho I'm not sure what company they're with. I'm curious if she'll start using it more and more for photos. HS tuition for my grandson nixed any plans for a DSLR for her.

heheee...Anna, i never even had the OLD one! but the camera stuff on that phone is calling my name....

Thinking about it... contract with Verizon is up Fri. but think I'll wait awhile to see if anything exciting happens with "deals"... and to hear the initial reviews... but then... maybe I can't wait... decisions... and for me... it's definitely a "want" and not "need"...

I'm feeling so ancient here. :noidea: I have an old pre-paid phone, no camera, etc. It is just used occasionally for out-going calls. Really don't know why I'd need more than that.

I would love to get the 4GS but I just have the 3G for now. I have some friends who will be getting the new one. It looks pretty cool. The fire is another thing on my list.

Just don't be fooled into thinking it's on the 4G network (I don't know about Verizon but I know about AT&T) just because it has a "4" in it. The new Samsungs (Infuse and Galaxy S) are both on 4G and LTE (think lightning!) networks (LTE is rolling out in major cities right now). Personally, I'd take a pass on the i4 and wait for the next one.

But seriously, I know you iphone lovers are sometimes die hards but I have to tell you that if you checked out the android based phones, I think you might convert...

LOL I had one of those old flip phones (about 5 yrs old)! I never had it on and used it only if I had to call DH while out shopping for his opinion. I didn't think I wanted a phone knowing I never ever even had mine on. But got the thunderbolt by verizon and love love love it....never turn it off and get to check my emails all the time....and play games...hee hee.....

I know I shouldn't but I'm totally giggling. You are a hoot!

We do don;t we Maureen. I have the 3G and think I'm upgrading because I want the better camera. I'm not as good as I used to be about lugging along my SLR and the 3G photos are so grainy. Thinking about ordering it so I don't have to stand in line. Either that, or I'll send Eric out into the crowds for me :D

I SO hear you on this one.

my hubby is getting it and i will get his from last year. He gets the new one each year, lol

I think you should turn the table and you get the new one this year Heather. I'm a little feisty like that though Heather. See what my poor husband has to live with :)

I heard that Suzee. Seems strange to me but as I'm not on the 4G network right now I don't know what I'm missing. Are the droids that good?

Hey! Whatever works right? I like to have the email and Twitter so I can work on the go.

I have heard very little good about the Droids. Lost calls, deleted emails, ringer turning off, etc. I love my iPhone and if I were able to upgrade I'd upgrade to the 4S just for the camera capabilities. It is 8MP. That's a real camera. The older i4 has a 5MP which is still better than what I've got.

I'm sure looking at it.... want the new camera and voice commands - but I probably won't end up getting it.

I love love love (did I say love?) my android phone!!! I've got the Samsung Infuse and I love it - so much better than my iphone 4, my Blackberry Torch and anything else I've had. It's fast as heck, the interface is beautiful, it doesn't have all the proprietary architecture that Apple has (you can plug it into your MAC/PC and your phone looks like it's an EHD - you have folders for music, books, apps, etc - you put on whatever you want - no itunes garbage to deal with).

Clara - there are "Droid" phones (actual name of the phone) and then there are "android" (google based) operating systems so I'm guessing you are talking about the phone Droid?

Not a sales pitch or anything here but the Infuse just had the price drop to $99 (it was $199) because the new Samsung Galaxy S just came out. It's got a 8MP camera front and rear facing as well as it being bigger than the iphone (this phone is beautiful and it's 4.5in super AMOLED Plus display on it) and it's soooo thin. Again, as I said - it IS on the 4g network and the iphone4s is not. So if you aren't a die hard iphone person, it's really worth checking into.

My husband is a diehard iphone guy and when we compare our phones mine always wins ;) I'm a MAC fan girl (iMac and macbook pro) and as compatible as it is, I still wouldn't use the iphone again - not when the android is out there.

Hope that helps anyone who wanted more info or was looking for some other options to the iphone.

PS - the prices I mention are AT&T in the US.

Interesting Suzee. I may just wait and see what the reviews are like. Afterall the 5 will likely be just around the corner...

I use "gizmobies" skins on my phone....they are stickers that look are a highgloss thin padded sticker. They are very thin and have them designed for all types of phones.

I've dropped my iphone umpteen times and still works and looks like new. The great thing about gizmobies is you can get decorative ones. Mine is black front/back...but next time I am getting two...one decorative one for the back and one black one for the front.
