Art Journaling ~ Are You Resolved?

Art Journaling ~ Are You Resolved?
Today we begin our April Challenges over at Oscraps, and our theme for this month is {RESOLVE}. There are so many ways that you can take your art journal pages with this topic, so each week we will be doing a different bent on the theme. You can read the entire challenge HERE, but I will copy and paste some of it here for a taste to hopefully get you over there!!
“This month, we invite you to explore the theme of “Resolve” in your art journal. Resolve is about determination, commitment, and the strength to move forward, even in the face of challenges. Through this challenge, take the opportunity to reflect on what drives you, what you are committed to, and how you stay resilient in your journey.
How can you explore “Resolve” in your art journal?
- Reflect on a time when your determination helped you overcome an obstacle. How did it shape you?
- Create pages that symbolize inner strength and perseverance. What colors, textures, or imagery represent your personal resolve?
- Journal about a goal or commitment you’ve made—how do you stay focused and motivated?
- Use this as a chance to embrace growth, persistence, and unwavering dedication to your dreams.
Tips for your creative process:
- Don’t be afraid to express struggle and triumph—both are part of resolve.
- Experiment with bold colors, strong lines, and layered textures to symbolize determination.
- Include words, affirmations, or quotes that reinforce your commitment to your goals.

Rachel Jefferies Lynn Grieveson | Begin Mixed Media Project Kit
I was having a really tough time with my page this week and I just couldn’t find my MOJO. I knew I wanted to talk about my health journey, but I didn’t know how I wanted to scrap it. I kept browsing some Art Journaling galleries to see if something clicked with me, and then I saw Marilyn’s page that she did with Rachel Jefferies and Lynn Grieveson’s “Begin Mixed Media Project Kit”!
One thing that I am NOT shy about is scraplifting. Back in the early 2000’s I ran a scraplift blog called “Lifts with a Twist” and the idea behind it was to challenge anyone who wanted to join in to scraplift a page I had chosen. I had a designer of the week and there would be prizes for everyone just for playing, and a gift certificate for the winner chosen by random draw. It was a lot of fun!
Anyway, Marilyn’s page really touched me and I LOVED the half photo in sepia tones, and it fit so well with the kit by Rachel and Lynn that I HAD to lift it. I hope it’s definitely giving homage to Marilyn’s page as well as making it my own.
One of my most challenging areas in my life is dealing with my weight. I have tried it all, and have always gained my weight back – mainly because I looked at it as something I was ON or when I reached my goal – OFF. I never got to maintenance with the attitude that my entire life around food had to change – emotionally, physically, choices I make, portions, types of food, etc…
Now I am RESOLVED to make this a life change! I’m almost there…and then the rest of my life to maintain it starts – and it all began with RESOLVE.
Here’s one of the pages that have been posted in the challenge from Char:
