Tip: How to use a multiple frames with one photo
Hi! Irene here with a little tip again!
I’ve been asked how I got one photo into multiple frames, like on this layout where I used Artsy Layered Template 99 and ArtPlay Palette Ocean Cove by Anna Aspnes:
In fact, it’s very simple! I first placed the photo on top of the frames, to see where I had to place it. When I was satisfied with the placement I moved it a couple of layers below, on the first photo mat in the template and hit Ctrl+G (in CS: Ctrl+Alt+G). Then I copied the photo 3 times and linked them. It’s very important you link them, because when you are dragging one of the photos around on your layout, you are sure the other ones are coming with that layer. They have to keep exactly on top of each other.
Then I dragged one of the copies to another photo mat in the template and hit Ctrl+G (in CS: Ctrl+Alt+G). Then I dragged the second copy to the last photo mat and also hit Ctrl+G (in CS: Ctrl+Alt+G). Still one copy left. I dragged it below the drop shadow layer of the lowest photo mat. I changed the blending mode to Hard Light and I added a layer mask to soften the borders of the photo.
This part of my layer palette looked like this:
Then I added the other photo, the one of the walking girl. Because the template has many layers with texture, it always gives a nice effect if you change the blending mode of your photo. In that way the texture will be visible through your photo. I changed the blending mode to Hard Light again and I also added a layer mask to soften the borders of this photo also.
The photos already had the golden glow of the low sun on the beach in Winter. But I also used a Lomo action to deepen those warm tones.
I hope you find this a helpful little tip and try it for yourself to use just one photo for 3 frames instead of 3 different photos.
This is brilliant! Thanks for The tip on how to do this!
Great tutorial! And i ♥ the outcome!
This is a great reminder of the multiple uses of all our great Anna supplies. Sometimes I think I don’t have the correct clipping mask for a project, then I remember my templates. Anna’s templates are so generously endowed with loops and glows and other embellishments (as well as great clipping masks) that can be pulled out and used in other ways.
